Dans la soirée, littéralement : entre les deux soirs (Lévitique 23.5 ; Nombres 9.3,5) ou, comme il est dit Deutéronome 16.6 : le soir, vers le coucher du soleil.

Probablement, le premier soir désigne les heures qui précèdent le coucher du soleil et le second celles qui le suivent (ainsi : de 3 heures à 7 heures). D'après d'autres, les deux soirs désigneraient l'un le moment du coucher du soleil, l'autre celui de la nuit close. La pratique des Samaritains et des Caraïtes est conforme à cette seconde interprétation. La première est soutenue par plusieurs célèbres rabbins juifs. Elle paraît préférable, parce que, selon l'autre, il n'y aurait pas eu le temps nécessaire pour préparer l'agneau et manger le repas, qui devait être terminé à minuit.

La totalité de l'assemblée : chaque père de famille, pour sa maison, à la même heure que tous les autres. Plus tard, ce furent les Lévites qui immolèrent l'agneau dans le sanctuaire (2Chroniques 30.15-17).
