Exode 14.20-27

Segond 21 Moïse tendit sa main sur la mer. Vers le matin, la mer reprit sa place. Les Egyptiens prirent la fuite à son approche, mais l'Eternel les précipita au milieu de la mer. A l'ordre de Moïse, les eaux refluent comme des torrents et ferment la retraite aux Egyptiens.

Il est probable que ce retour subit des eaux fut activé par un brusque changement du vent qui tourna tout à coup au Sud et accéléra le mouvement du flux.

      27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
