Fils d'homme. Cette appellation, extrĂȘmement frĂ©quente chez EzĂ©chiel (80 fois) et qui ne se retrouve ailleurs qu'une seule fois (Daniel 8.17), fait ressortir le contraste entre la faiblesse totale et la toute puissance du Dieu qui lui parle, et qui veut se servir de lui comme agent ; elle lui rappelle que, s'il ne peut rien par lui-mĂȘme, il sera puissant nĂ©anmoins par JĂ©hova pour accomplir l'Ɠuvre qui lui est confiĂ©e. Il devient ainsi l'exemple vivant de la puissance que Dieu se prĂ©pare Ă  dĂ©ployer en faveur de son peuple abaissĂ© et humiliĂ©.

Et je te parlerai. C'Ă©tait en vue de l'appel du prophĂšte que Dieu lui Ă©tait apparu (chapitre 1). Avant d'entendre cet appel, il doit ĂȘtre rappelĂ© Ă  lui-mĂȘme par l'action intĂ©rieure de la force divine.

L’Éternel donne Ses directives au prophĂšte. (EzĂ©chiel 2:1-5)
ÉzĂ©chiel est encouragĂ© Ă  ĂȘtre rĂ©solu et fidĂšle Ă  sa tĂąche, tout en restant dĂ©vouĂ© Ă  Dieu. (EzĂ©chiel 2:6-10)

De peur qu'ÉzĂ©chiel ne s’enorgueillisse, par l’abondance des rĂ©vĂ©lations que lui fit l’Éternel, ce Dernier lui rappelle qu'il reste toujours « un fils de l'homme », une crĂ©ature vulnĂ©rable et mortelle.

Christ Ă©tant Ă©galement et habituellement appelĂ© le « Fils de l'homme », c'Ă©tait pour le prophĂšte, une distinction honorable. L’attitude d'ÉzĂ©chiel rĂ©vĂ©lait sa rĂ©vĂ©rence envers Dieu, mais par sa position privilĂ©giĂ©e, compte tenu des rĂ©vĂ©lations qu’il reçut, il se devait de manifester le plus grand zĂšle dans l’exercice de son ministĂšre.

Dieu nous parle toujours, dĂšs que nous nous sommes disposĂ©s Ă  accomplir ce qu'Il nous commande. Comme ÉzĂ©chiel n’était pas dotĂ© d’une force particuliĂšre, l'Esprit divin entra en lui. Dieu Ă©prouve du plaisir Ă  Ɠuvrer en nous, quand nous devons accomplir Ses tĂąches. Le Saint-Esprit nous dresse alors sur nos pieds, en nous incitant Ă  accomplir notre devoir. Ainsi, quand le Seigneur invite le pĂ©cheur Ă  se rĂ©veiller spirituellement, Ă  s'occuper des problĂšmes et des soucis de son Ăąme, l'Esprit de vie et la GrĂące accompagnent ce rĂ©veil.

ÉzĂ©chiel est envoyĂ© vers les enfants d’IsraĂ«l, Ă©tant chargĂ© de leur transmettre un message. Beaucoup d’entre eux ont dĂ» traiter cet avertissement avec un certain mĂ©pris, bien qu’ils aient pu constater qu'un prophĂšte leur avait Ă©tĂ© envoyĂ© par le ciel.

Dieu sera finalement glorifié, et Sa Parole honorée : Son message transmettra bien le « chemin » qui mÚne à la vie, ou celui qui conduit à la mort.
