World English Bible He measured it on the four sides: it had a wall around it, the length five hundred, and the breadth five hundred, to make a separation between that which was holy and that which was common.

Le mur est le même (Figure 1,A) qu'Ezéchiel a aperçu en entrant, 40.5, et qu'il a désigné du nom de construction, à cause de sa largeur (six coudées) et des constructions qui y étaient adossées (comparez 42.1,3).

Longueur... cinq cents. Le but de cette répétition est de faire ressortir cette forme carrée et symbolique (Apocalypse 21.16), et d'indiquer en même temps que c'était là la muraille qui marquait l'enceinte du sanctuaire, et séparait le sacré du profane. Sur cette dernière expression, comparez 44.13.

      25 Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there),
      26 and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.
      27 There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.
