L'un des siens : conformément à l'ordre naturel (Deutéronome 17.15).

Je le ferai venir. Ce dominateur aura, comme le souverain sacrificateur, le droit de s'approcher de Dieu (Nombres 16.5). Cette concentration de l'autorité politique et religieuse sur une seule tête ne s'était pas encore vue en Israël. Mais David l'avait déjà contemplée en vision prophétique dans la personne de ce Fils qui est son Seigneur, à la fois roi des nations et sacrificateur à la façon de Melchisédek (Psaumes 2 et 110). Zacharie annonce la même chose (Zacharie 6.12-13). C'est ici l'un des traits saillants de la révélation de l'Ancien Testament.

Car quel est l'homme... qui se rendrait par lui-même apte à s'approcher de moi sans mettre en danger sa vie ? Nul homme ne peut voir Dieu et vivre, est-il dit souvent (Exode 19.21 ; 33.20 ; 34.3). Il faut donc, pour pouvoir s'approcher de Dieu, en avoir expressément reçu le droit, comme Aaron et ses descendants ; comparez ce qui est dit du Messie Hébreux 5.4.
