Il frappe de ses sabots le sol de la vallée. Plein d’une force joyeuse, il s’élance au-devant de l’armée ennemie.

Elle se rit du cheval. Cet oiseau ne s'envole pas, mais court, et court plus vite que le meilleur cheval.

C'est ainsi que le poète la fait sortir de la scène, en même temps qu'il prépare ce qui suit. Il y a dans cette description des trésors de poésie, et dans cette transition un art consommé.
