World English Bible He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.

Ce jeune homme riche et libre dans la maison paternelle, le voilà dans l'indigence et la servitude ; ce fils d'une famille honorable, le voilà faisant paître des pourceaux, ce qui, outre l'abjection du métier, était un objet d'horreur pour un Juif.

Le verbe de l'original : il s'attacha (littér. il se colla), que nos versions affaiblissent en le traduisant par : il se mit au service de, relève encore ce qu'il y avait d'abject dans cette dépendance à l'égard d'un maître païen.

Il y a, dans le monde moral, des suites du péché plus dégradantes encore.
