Il indique que Jésus, après les exhortations qui précèdent et auxquelles a donné lieu la parabole du semeur, reprend son enseignement par d'autres paraboles, ainsi que le prouve le verset 33. (Comparer verset 2, note.)

Celle que nous trouvons ici nous a été conservée par Marc seul. Elle a quelque ressemblance avec la suivante, versets 30-32. Mais il faut beaucoup d'imagination pour prétendre qu'elle n'est qu'une reproduction abrégée de la parabole de l'ivraie, (Matthieu 13.24 et suivants) et que, par conséquent, elle ne saurait avoir été prononcée en cette place. Il faut s'appliquer d'abord à saisir les détails du récit, avant d'en exposer la signification religieuse.
