Je ferai des chefs de Juda... Les conducteurs de l'Israël croyant sont remplis d'une puissance merveilleuse, en vertu de laquelle il leur est donné d'exercer une action énergique au sein des nations païennes. Les expressions de brasier ardent, de torche enflammée, sont sans doute des images de destruction ; mais elles peuvent, comme toute la scène, être interprétées dans un sens spirituel, conformément au caractère essentiellement religieux de cette lutte. Ce ne sont pas les païens eux-mêmes, c'est leur paganisme qui est consumé par les chefs de Juda.

Et Jérusalem restera encore... Et ainsi Israël, menacé de périr dans cette crise, demeurera intact, en vue des grandes destinées qui l'attendent encore. L'expression employée signifie que la population de Jérusalem continuera à demeurer à Jérusalem dont il semblait qu'elle allait être chassée, c'est-à-dire qu'Israël sortira sain et sauf de cette crise qui semblait devoir le perdre, et cela grâce à Juda, qui aura pris en main sa défense.
