L'homme spirituel, celui qui est éclairé et régénéré par l'Esprit qui sonde toutes choses, (verset 10) ne peut rester dans l'ignorance sur aucun point essentiel de la science du salut ; tout ce qui est nécessaire à la délivrance et à la sanctification de son âme lui est dévoilé par degrés, selon le besoin qu'il en a ; car ici connaître est un acte de la vie, de l'amour, plus encore que de l'intelligence.

De là aussi le discernement qui lui est donné pour juger des choses contraires. Par la même raison, il ne peut, lui, être jugé ni dans ses principes, ni dans sa vie par aucun homme non éclairé du même Esprit. Seulement, il faut bien remarquer que cet Esprit agit et éclaire par la Parole de Dieu, source et juge suprême de la vérité, et que, par conséquent, ce serait dans un homme le plus dangereux aveuglement que de vouloir suivre ses propres voies, ses propres inspirations, sous prétexte qu'il est spirituel et que nul ne peut juger de lui.

Il n'y a rien dans la Bible qui justifie ce faux spiritualisme, source de beaucoup d'erreurs, et souvent aliment de l'orgueil.
