Je me repens... Ce mot ne signifie pas que Dieu change de dessein, mais que Saül ne répond plus à son dessein. Voir Genèse 6.6, note.

Et Samuel fût fâché. La douleur de Samuel montre combien il aimait Saül, malgré le déplaisir que lui avait causé au premier moment son avènement à la royauté ; comparez verset 35.
