2 à 7 Amour et confiance de l'apôtre.

Le verbe grec signifie comprendre, contenir, faire place, accueillir ; ainsi Matthieu 19.11 "Faites-nous accueil dans vos âmes, à nous et à la vérité ; élargissez vos cœurs pour que nous y ayons place." (2Corinthiens 6.11-13) Cette prière de l'apôtre a surtout rapport à ce qui va suivre.

Grec : "Tiré du profit de personne." Ce sont là, sans doute, des réponses aux accusations des adversaires qui disaient de Paul "Il est injuste envers plusieurs, il leur fait tort, il les offense ; il en conduit d'autres à leur ruine par trop de sévérité (par exemple 1Corinthiens 5) ; enfin il cherche envers tous des avantages terrestres." Avec quelle douceur il repousse ces indignes reproches, toujours animé de l'esprit de son Maître "au milieu de la bonne et de la mauvaise réputation !" (2Corinthiens 6.8)
