L'expression : célébrer le culte du Seigneur est appliquée par les Septante, aux fonctions des sacrificateurs. Ici elle désigne le culte chrétien.

Ce jour-là le culte était accompagné de jeûne.

C'est donc au sein d'une assemblée solennelle que l'Eglise reçut de l'Esprit, peut-être par l'intermédiaire d'un des prophètes l'ordre de mettre à part Barnabas et Saul, pour l'œuvre à laquelle ce même Esprit les avait déjà appelés intérieurement.

La vocation vient de Dieu, et c'est l'Eglise qui reçoit l'ordre de conférer la charge.

- Il y a, avec l'impératif mettre à part, (Romains 1.1 ; Galates 1.15) une particule qui accentue l'ordre et indique qu'il doit être exécuté immédiatement. (Luc 2.15)
