A vous, Juifs, premièrement, il fallait ; tel était le conseil de Dieu envers son peuple. (Matthieu 10.6 ; Romains 1.16 ; comparez ci-dessus verset 5, note.)

Mais en rejetant la parole de Dieu, ces Juifs se jugeaient eux-mêmes indignes de la vie éternelle.

Il y a quelque chose de tragique dans cette destinée volontairement choisie.

Maintenant les apôtres se tournent vers les païens. C'était l'accomplissement de la parole de Jésus. (Matthieu 21.43)
