Le roi tient sa promesse (verset 6).

Autorité sur la province de Babylone. Daniel est fait gouverneur de cette province. D'après 3.1, l'empire était divisé en provinces dont chacune avait son gouverneur.

En chef sur tous les sages de Babylone. Cette nomination était convenable, puisque Daniel s'était montré supérieur à tous et leur avait sauvé la vie.
