World English Bible For I am Yahweh your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

Cyrus, en prenant Babylone, acquiert, des droits sur Israël, qui y est captif ; mais bien loin d'en user avec rigueur, il congédie ce peuple ; Dieu le dédommage et le récompense pour cet acte volontaire d'émancipation en ajoutant à l'empire perse l'Egypte, Cus (l'Ethiopie, ici spécialement l'Ethiopie méridionale) et Séba (Méroé, la métropole éthiopienne, située dans la partie septentrionale du pays). Ces pays furent effectivement conquis par Cambyse, fils de Cyrus. Comparez Ezéchiel 29.18-20 où l'Egypte est donnée à Nébucadnetsar en échange du peu de profit qu'il a retiré de son expédition contre Tyr.
