10 à 14 S'abstenir de manger du sang.

Quelque sang que ce soit. Le sang est pour l'autel. Il est absolument défendu d'en faire un aliment. On comprend par cette défense l'ordre du verset 6 de répandre le sang des bêtes immolées sur l'autel. L'accomplissement de cette prescription avait pour effet d'empêcher la violation de la défense renfermée dans ces versets.

Je tournerai ma face. Cette expression est prise ici dans le sens défavorable.

Je retrancherai. Ces mots indiquent évidemment un châtiment exécuté par Dieu lui-même et impliquent en tous cas la privation des privilèges théocratiques.

Nous avons dans ce passage une confirmation de la loi interdisant de consommer du sang. Les Israélites devaient s'en abstenir. Cette loi, impérative à cette époque, n'est plus en vigueur de nos jours ; la venue d'un nouveau sacrifice parfait allait en effet abroger cette directive : le sang des bêtes ne sert plus de rançon, seul celui de Christ a de la valeur ; il n'y a donc maintenant aucune raison de s'abstenir du sang des animaux. Il est permis d'en consommer pour nous nourrir ; le sang des animaux ne peut en effet servir d'expiation pour notre âme.

Aujourd'hui, seul celui de Christ nous sauve réellement : ayons pour ce Sang le plus grand respect : ne le considérons pas avec indifférence !
