Des eaux vives découleront. Vu le manque de pluie durant la plus grande partie de l'année, les sources ont, en Orient, un rôle beaucoup plus important que dans nos contrées. Comparez les descriptions analogues Joël 3.18 ; Ezéchiel 47.1-2.

Des eaux vives : des eaux de source.

En été comme en hiver. Les cours d'eau en Palestine tarissent d'ordinaire durant l'été.

Certains exégètes pensent que les eaux vives qui sortent de la ville de Jérusalem (verset huit,) font référence à l'Évangile, qui commencera à être diffusé ouvertement.

Ni l'Évangile, ni la Grâce, ni les bénédictions de l'Esprit qui règnent dans le cœur des croyants, ne peuvent être vains, quelle que soit la force des persécutions éventuelles, des tempêtes ou des calamités spirituelles.

Ce texte annonce de terribles jugements ; ils seront envoyés sur ceux qui voudraient s'opposer à l'établissement des Juifs sur leur propre terre. Jusqu'où peut-on les interpréter littéralement ? Seuls les événements futurs le détermineront...

La colère acharnée et la méchanceté qui dressent les hommes les uns contre les autres sont les tristes manifestations de l'hostilité qui règne parmi ceux vivent délibérément dans le péché.

Mêmes les anges ou d’autres créatures similaires, souffrent également du péché de l'homme, avec tous les tourments que cela engendre. C'est la raison pour laquelle Dieu a manifesté de tout temps, et même dans le futur, Sa haine envers le péché.
