Ces quatre manifestations de la vérité divine sont intimement liées l'une à l'autre, mais diverses dans leur mode de communication à l'homme.

Elles forment deux lignes parallèles :

une révélation, source de la prophétie ; une connaissance, source de la doctrine.

Amener les hommes à Dieu par tous ces dons de l'Esprit, tel était le but de l'Evangile ; tels aussi les moyens d'action des apôtres : s'ils avaient voulu convertir les peuples et fonder et édifier des Eglises en parlant des langues, quels eussent été les résultats ?

C'est là la question pleinement concluante que pose l'apôtre et que les deux comparaisons suivantes rendront plus frappante encore. (versets 7-11)

Même un apôtre ne peut pas édifier l’assemblée, s'il ne parle pas de façon à être compris par ses auditeurs. Il est complètement vain de prononcer des paroles qui n’ont aucune signification pour ceux qui les reçoivent. On ne peut donner d’avis critique à un discours, si ce dernier n'est pas compris : il n’y a alors aucune communication utile entre l’orateur et les auditeurs.

Dans les assemblées chrétiennes, les services religieux doivent se dérouler de telle manière, que tous puissent y participer spirituellement, pour en tirer profit. On doit employer un langage clair et facilement compréhensible, lors d’un culte ou autre réunions de ce genre.

Chaque véritable disciple de Christ recherchera prioritairement le bien des autres, avant le sien.
