Thyatire (Apocalypse 2.18) était en Lydie, dans l'Asie Mineure.

Bien que Lydie fût un nom de femme assez fréquent, il est possible que celle-ci fut ainsi appelée d'après son pays natal.

Cette contrée partageait avec la Phénicie l'industrie des étoffes de pourpre, dont Lydie faisait commerce.

Ces mots : qui craignait Dieu, montrent qu'elle était née païenne, mais prosélyte Juive.

Ses besoins religieux n'étaient pourtant pas encore satisfaits, c'est pourquoi elle écoutait.

Mais pour être attentive à la parole divine, (Actes 8.6) pour qu'elle la comprit et la reçût, il fallut que le Seigneur lui ouvrît le cœur. (Luc 24.45)
