L'image employée ici par le Seigneur est la même que celle dont se servaient orgueilleusement les habitants de Jérusalem (11.3) pour affirmer l'impossibilité de leur ruine. L'Eternel la retourne maintenant contre eux ; ils vont périr dans cette chaudière dans laquelle ils se croyaient en sûreté, dans Jérusalem même, et la chaudière aussi sera détruite, après avoir été vidée de tout ce qu'elle renfermait.
