לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה הִנְנִ֥י עָלַ֖יִךְ צֹ֑ר וְהַעֲלֵיתִ֤י עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֔ים כְּהַעֲל֥וֹת הַיָּ֖ם לְגַלָּֽיו׃

Il semble qu'il y ait une ironie dans ce verset : Tu veux des visiteurs, tu en auras !

La comparaison des peuples ennemis avec les flots de la mer est tirée de la situation particulière de Tyr au milieu des eaux. En effet, il ne s'agit pas ici de l'ancienne ville de Tyr, située sur le continent, qui manquait d'un port convenable et qu'avait autrefois prise Salmanasar ; Ezéchiel décrit la nouvelle Tyr, bâtie sur une petite île, à douze cents pas en avant dans la mer, et qui possédait deux excellents ports, l'un du côté du nord, l'autre du côté du sud (Esaïe 23.2, note).
