Grec : reçoit un prophète en nom de prophète, un juste en nom de juste, c'est-à-dire en considération de ce qu'impliqua ce nom, ou, comme nous traduisons, en qualité de.

Ces paroles expliquent et généralisent celles qui précèdent, sans que Jésus cesse de les appliquer à ses disciples, car ils étaient à la fois des prophètes en tant que chargés d'un message divin, et des justes par leur communion avec le Sauveur. Ceux donc qui les recevront en cette qualité leur sont assimilés à l'égard de la récompense, (comparez Matthieu 6.1,2, notes) parce qu'ils se montrent animés du même esprit qu'eux, du même amour pour le Maître qui les a envoyés.
