Les jours viennent : formule, usitée dans la bouche des prophètes (2Rois 20.17 ; Amos 4.2 ; 8.11, etc.).

Le bras, symbole de la force. Il n'y aura plus dans ta race de force vitale suffisante pour produire des hommes capables d'atteindre la vieillesse. Cet état misérable de ta descendance contrastera avec l'abondance dont jouira tout le peuple.

La maison de ton père. S'il s'agit de la maison d'Aaron en général, on doit penser à la substitution de Samuel à Eli, ou au remplacement d'Aaron et de sa famille par le sacerdoce du Messie. Mais si l'on applique cette menace à la substitution de Tsadok à la famille d'Eli, le terme la maison de ton père, doit être pris dans le sens restreint de la maison d'Ithamar.
