Et commencèrent à bâtir. Cependant ce commencement était une continuation, les fondements avaient été jetés (3.8-10) quatorze ou quinze ans auparavant.

Les prophètes de Dieu : nommés au verset 1. Aggée avait le premier prophétisé, le premier jour du sixième mois de la deuxième année de Darius, puis le vingt-et-unième jour du septième mois. Zacharie avait, au huitième mois de la même année, ajouté son témoignage au sien. Et depuis lors les prophéties s'étaient succédé de manière à ne pas laisser faiblir la foi du peuple.

Qui les assistaient. Voyez, par exemple, la belle promesse (Aggée 1.13) par laquelle est fortifiée l'impression produite sur les esprits par la première prophétie.
