22 et 23 Les déportés, échappés au massacre de Jérusalem, en arrivant en Babylonie, y fourniront par leur inconduite la démonstration convaincante de la justice de Dieu qui a frappé les restes du peuple et de la nécessité de ce châtiment suprême. Et il y aura là une consolation pour les anciens captifs ; car, au lieu de s'irriter de la conduite de Dieu, ils devront y donner leur approbation. Or une dispensation à laquelle on adhère perd aussitôt son amertume et produit ce fruit paisible de justice, qui console par sa douceur intime celui qui est éprouvé de la sorte (Hébreux 12.11).
