Chanta... avec Barak. Il est naturel de supposer, surtout quand on pense aux mœurs de l'Orient, que ce fut dans le jour de fête où l'on célébra cette victoire, que Débora et Barak chantèrent ce cantique devant le peuple assemblé pour cette solennité. Peut-être cette déclamation était-elle accompagnée de musique et même d'une représentation scénique, comme dans la célébration populaire récente de la bataille de Sempach. Cet hymne triomphal comprend trois tableaux, de dix versets chacun :

  • celui de la sécurité et de la paix, fruit de la victoire : versets 2 à 11
  • celui de la victoire elle-même : versets 12 à 21
  • celui de la mort tragique du chef ennemi : versets 22 à 31.
On peut remarquer un certain rythme, rigoureusement observé dans les deux premières, d'après lequel chaque partie contient, à la suite du premier verset qui lui sert d'introduction, trois strophes de trois versets chacune.

Aucune grâce ni bénédiction ne doivent être omises, quand nous remercions le Seigneur pour tout ce qu'Il fait ; Il acceptera nos louanges avec grand plaisir, si ces dernières viennent vraiment du fond de notre cœur. Par une telle attitude, l'amour et la gratitude seront plus profonds et efficacement ancrés chez les croyants.

Tous ces évènements et ces victoires d'Israël devaient être gravés dans la mémoire du peuple. Quels que soient les actes accomplis par Débora, Barak et toute l'armée, l'Éternel devait être glorifié avant tout. La motivation, l'efficacité et le succès dans les différentes opérations, ne dépendent en fait que de Lui !
