Oui, tu es vraiment juste. Tu as porté un jugement juste quand tu nous a envoyé tous ces malheurs, à nous et à Jérusalem, la ville sainte de nos ancêtres. Tu nous as traités avec vérité et justice à cause de nos péchés.

28 à 30 L'impression produite par cet événement sur Nébucadnetsar.

Il y a loin du défi qu'il jetait à ce Dieu au verset 15 : Quel est le Dieu qui vous délivrera de mes mains ? à l'admiration qu'il professe maintenant pour lui.

Son ange ; voir au verset 25. Le langage des trois jeunes gens peut avoir influé sur la manière de parler du roi.

Ce que Dieu a fait pour ses serviteurs, dans ce texte, devrait aider les juifs à rester fidèles à leur religion, alors qu'ils sont en captivité, et devrait tendre à les garder de toute idolâtrie.

Le miracle accompli dans la fournaise a convaincu profondément Nebucadnetsar, mais aucun changement n'est survenu dans sa conduite. Celui qui a préservé ces juifs pieux dans la fournaise ardente, est capable de nous soutenir lors de la tentation, et de nous garder du péché !
