Ezéchiel 18.7

Les suivants sont des offenses à la personne du prochain.

S'il n'opprime personne : comme on le ferait, par exemple, en profitant de la nécessité de celui qui vend ou achète pour élever ou abaisser outre mesure le prix de l'objet.

Son gage : Dieu avait interdit aux créancier de lever des gages sur son débiteur d'une manière contraire à l'humanité ; par exemple, il ne devait pas lui prendre la meule nécessaire pour faire son pain, et, s'il s'emparait de son vêtement de dessus, il devait le lui rendre pour la nuit (Exode 22.26-27 ; Deutéronome 24.6,10-13). Ce n'étaient là que des exemples donnés par la loi et que l'Israélite fidèle devait retenir et appliquer dans leur esprit.

De rapines : comparez Exode 22.5 (faire le dégât dans un champ) ; Deutéronome 19.14 ; Proverbes 22.28 (déplacer les bornes).

      22 "You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.
      23 If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;
      24 and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

      8 but you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, which he lacks.
      9 Beware that there not be a base thought in your heart, saying, "The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand"; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cry to Yahweh against you, and it be sin to you.
      10 You shall surely give him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him; because that for this thing Yahweh your God will bless you in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to.
      11 For the poor will never cease out of the land: therefore I command you, saying, You shall surely open your hand to your brother, to your needy, and to your poor, in your land.

      Deutéronome 24

      12 If he be a poor man, you shall not sleep with his pledge;

      14 What then shall I do when God rises up? When he visits, what shall I answer him?
      15 Didn't he who made me in the womb make him? Didn't one fashion us in the womb?
      16 "If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,
      17 or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it
      18 (no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, her have I guided from my mother's womb);
      19 if I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or that the needy had no covering;
      20 if his heart hasn't blessed me, if he hasn't been warmed with my sheep's fleece;
      21 if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate,
      22 then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder blade, and my arm be broken from the bone.

      6 "Isn't this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
      7 Isn't it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?
      8 Then your light shall break forth as the morning, and your healing shall spring forth speedily; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Yahweh shall be your rear guard.
      9 Then you shall call, and Yahweh will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedly;

      39 When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?'

      42 for I was hungry, and you didn't give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;
      43 I was a stranger, and you didn't take me in; naked, and you didn't clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn't visit me.'
