Grec : "Les mains droites de communion." Tous, en leur donnant la main d'association, les reconnurent solennellement comme étant leurs compagnons d'œuvre et travaillant dans la même communion fraternelle, qui procède de l'union de chaque membre avec le Sauveur. (Comparer Actes 15) Le récit de Luc se trouve ainsi complété par ces paroles de Paul.

Si les apôtres eux-mêmes mettaient tant d'importance à être reconnus par leurs condisciples dans la communion de l'Eglise, combien plus les autres serviteurs de Dieu doivent-ils y tenir, dans l'intérêt de l'unité et de la charité ! S'isoler, se fractionner à l'infini, ne vouloir que des églises et oublier l'Eglise, n'est point un fruit de l'Esprit de Dieu.
