En fait, il est essentiel, pour notre joie spirituelle, que nous croyons en Lui, que nous nous repentions du péché, que nous vivions une vie sainte et que nous nous aimions les uns les autres.

C’est là, la volonté du Seigneur, Il désire notre sanctification. Prenons bien soin de ne pas nous contenter des privilèges spirituels que l’on peut rencontrer ici-bas et des œuvres que nous pourrions accomplir pour Lui, de peur de nous tromper ou de nous mentir à nous-mêmes, et de périr pour l'éternité, là où va le monde...

Que tous ceux qui invoquent le Nom de Christ, s’écartent de tout péché. Pour les autres, leur « piété » ne repose que sur ce qu’ils ont vainement entendu, ils ne vont pas plus loin ; ils n’ont acquis que de vagues notions stériles.

Ces deux catégories d'auditeurs du message de l’évangile, sont représentées, sous forme imagée, par deux constructeurs de maisons. Cette parabole nous enseigne à entendre et à mettre en pratique les paroles du Seigneur Jésus : certaines peuvent paraître dures, pour ce qui concerne notre vie ici-bas, mais elles doivent être écoutées et mises en pratique. Christ représente « Le » fondement, et tout élément hors de Sa Personne, n’est que du « sable ».

Certains bâtissent leurs espoirs sur la prospérité du monde ; d'autres sur une manifestation extérieure de leur religion. Ils « s'aventurent » dans ce type de manifestations ; en fait, tout cela n’est que du « sable », trop fragile pour supporter une solide structure, telle que notre espérance d’aller au ciel.

Une « tempête » viendra inexorablement éprouver les œuvres de chacun. Quand Dieu sépare l'âme du corps, où demeure l'espoir de l'hypocrite ? Sa maison est tombée sous la tempête, alors que ce bâtisseur avait le plus besoin d'elle, espérant qu'elle serait pour lui un refuge. Elle est tombée et il était trop tard pour en construire une autre...

Puisse le Seigneur faire de nous de sages « bâtisseurs » pour l'éternité. Rien ne nous séparera alors de l'Amour de Jésus-Christ !

Les multitudes étaient étonnées par la Sagesse et par la Puissance de l’enseignement du Seigneur. Aussi souvent que nous lirons Ses Paroles, elles resteront pour nous, toujours nouvelles. Chacune révèle que son Auteur est Divin !

Soyons de plus en plus décidés et appliqués à faire de chacun de ces enseignements bénis et ces grâces spirituelles, le sujet principal de nos pensées, pendant des semaines entières. N’errons pas dans de vains désirs confus, par lesquels nous touchons à tout, mais qui ne nous apportent rien !
