L'Eternel dit... : Que l'Eternel... Nous avons déjà vu dans le chapitre précédent (versets 8 et 9) l'Eternel distingué de l'ange qui agit et parle comme l'Eternel ; il en est de même ici. C'est l'Eternel, c'est-à-dire l'ange de l'Eternel, qui parle ; et il en appelle à l'Eternel comme à celui qui doit reprendre l'Adversaire.

Te tance (comparez Jude 1.9) : te réprimande. Il y avait une singulière audace à chercher la ruine d'un homme qui venait d'être l'objet de la grâce de l'Eternel, quand il l'avait tiré de la fournaise de la captivité ; et ce n'était pas seulement, ni même essentiellement, à Jéhosua qu'en voulait Satan, c'était au peuple entier ; c'est pourquoi l'ange rappelle à Satan l'élection de Jérusalem, avant même de lui parler de la faveur accordée à Jéhosua.
