De Derbe, Paul et Barnabas, revenant sur leurs pas, reprennent en sens inverse, à travers l'Asie Mineure, tout le voyage qu'ils avaient fait.

Ils n'hésitent pas à retourner dans ces villes de Lystre, d'Iconium et d'Antioche, où ils ont souffert la persécution et où ils retrouveront les mêmes ennemis. C'est que de grands devoirs les y appellent.

Partout ils ont laissé des âmes converties au Sauveur, et dans leur tendre sollicitude pour elles, ils éprouvent le besoin de les affermir au milieu des dangers qui les entourent, afin qu'elles persévèrent dans la foi.

Et pour que ces nouveaux disciples ne s'étonnent pas des souffrances qu'endurent les apôtres et auxquelles ils sont exposés eux mêmes, les missionnaires leur enseignent cette grande vérité que c'est par beaucoup d'afflictions qu'il nous faut entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.

Il faut, il n'y a pas d'autre chemin que celui qu'a suivi le Sauveur ; il nous faut, nous tous, sans exception, malgré la différence des temps. (1Thessaloniciens 3.2-4 ; 2Timothée 3.12)
