World English Bible "Assemble yourselves and come. Draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations. Those have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can't save.

Les païens sont invités à se rendre attentifs aux prophéties de Jéhova, qui déjà s'accomplissent (verset 21), et à reconnaître le néant de leurs idoles. Esaïe se place en esprit, au moment où l'œuvre de Cyrus qu'il annonce, sera réalisée.

Les restes des Gentils : tous les païens qui échapperont au jugement dont les idolâtres ont été menacés (verset 16) et qui seront disposés à recevoir la parole de Dieu. Ce reste du monde païen correspond au reste d'Israël (10.21-22 et ailleurs).

Dans ce texte, les nations sont exhortées à se rapprocher de l'Éternel. Aucun autre que ce Dernier n'est vraiment capable de les aider ; Il est le Rédempteur, qui peut sauver quiconque, sans aide extérieure, le Seul « chemin », qui mène au salut.

Si le cœur obéit à Christ, tout notre être se plaira à suivre Ses commandements. Les hommes de toutes nations se tourneront vers Lui pour bénéficier de Ses bénédictions ; tous ceux qui haïssent Sa cause seront remplis de honte ; quant aux croyants, ils se réjouiront en Lui, leur véritable Ami et Sauveur. Tout être doit venir à Jésus : puissions-nous dès maintenant, nous approcher de Lui, le Seigneur de Droiture, en marchant selon Ses commandements.
