La prière est le moyen approprié pour obtenir ce don nous avons besoin. Priez ; priez souvent ; que cela puisse être une véritable « vocation », faites-le avec sérieux, avec ferveur. Demandez, comme le ferait un mendiant, faisant l’aumône, ou un voyageur, demandant son chemin. Cherchez, comme si vous aviez perdu quelque chose de valeur, comme un marchand cherchant des perles précieuses.

Frappez, comme le fait à la porte, celui qui désire entrer dans la maison. Le péché a fermé et verrouillé la « porte » spirituelle, devant nous ; par la prière nous frappons à cette porte pour demander d’entrer !

Quel que soit le sujet que vous abordiez par la prière, selon la promesse divine, il vous sera répondu favorablement, si Dieu constate que cela vous convient parfaitement ; que voulez-vous avoir de plus ?

Ces recommandations s'appliquent à tous ceux qui prient de tout cœur ; celui qui « demande », reçoit, qu'il soit Juif ou Gentil, jeune ou âgé, riche ou pauvre, haut placé ou de condition humble, maître ou serviteur, savant ou illettré, tous sont de la même façon, les bienvenus devant le trône de la Grâce, s'ils s’en approchent avec foi.

Ces vérités sont imagées par une comparaison avec des parents, montrant leur empressement à donner à leurs enfants ce qu'ils demandent. Certains parents, par sottise, sont souvent trop indulgents, mais Dieu, quant à Lui, est parfaitement sage ! Il sait ce dont nous avons besoin, ce que nous désirons, et ce qui nous convient parfaitement.

Puissions-nous ne jamais supposer que notre Père céleste nous propose de prier, en refusant de nous entendre, ou qu'Il puisse nous octroyer, ce qui pourrait nous être nuisible.
