Plus le prophète constatait la désolation d’Israël, plus il en était affligé.

Tant que le peuple continuait à pleurer, il était encore en vie, attendant sa délivrance : c’était sa seule espérance ; il ne pouvait s’attendre à aucun soulagement ni secours en dehors de celui que pouvait accorder l’Éternel.
