C'est ici le cri de Sion, qui monte à l'Eternel en réponse à l'invitation que vient de lui adresser le prophète (verset 19).

Des femmes... Jérémie fait allusion à des faits qui se sont passés pendant le siége. Des atrocités semblables s'étaient déjà produites au siège de Samarie (2Rois 6.28) et devaient se répéter plus tard lors de la ruine de Jérusalem par les Romains (Josèphe, Guerre des Juifs, Livre VI, chapitre 21) ; comparez 2Rois 25.3 et les prédictions Lévitique 26.29 ; Deutéronome 28.53,56.

Dans le sanctuaire. Le meurtre des sacrificateurs dans le temple est un autre fait contre nature.
