La récompense, qui n'affaiblit en rien la vérité du salut par grâce, par la foi Romains 4.4,5 est grande en proportion de la fidélité et de l'amour avec lesquels les disciples de Jésus auront souffert pour son nom. Toutefois, nul chrétien ne cherche cette récompense en dehors de Dieu et du bonheur de le servir, sans cela, il perdrait ce qui en fait la grandeur et la douceur. (Matthieu 20.1 et suivants)

- Le Sauveur montre à ses disciples persécutés un sujet de joie dans la pensée (car) qu'ils ont ce trait de ressemblance avec les prophètes qui les ont précédés. (1Rois 18.22 ; Jérémie 26.11 et suivants ; Jérémie 37.15 et suivants ; Jérémie 38.4 et suivants Hébreux 11.36 et suivants)
