World English Bible but declared first to them of Damascus, at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

En interpellant Agrippa par son nom, Paul s'adresse à la conscience du roi ; il invite celui-ci à suivre l'exemple qu'il lui a donné en ne résistant point à la vision céleste.

Grec : Je ne devins pas désobéissant à la vision céleste : cette expression marque "la liberté de l'homme en face de l'appel du Seigneur," comme dit M. Barde. (Comparer Jean 20.27, note.)

Dans la description qu'il fait de son activité parmi Juifs et païens, depuis le moment de sa conversion jusqu'à maintenant, Paul est forcé d'abréger, et de passer sous silence divers détails de ce qui eut lieu entre sa conversion et ses premières prédications, tant à Damas qu'à Jérusalem.

C'est donc à tort qu'on a voulu voir une contradiction entre ce rapide exposé et quelques passages de l'épître aux Galates. (Galates 1.21,22, comparez Actes 9.19,20, notes.)

- Dire à Agrippa que l'objet de sa prédication était la repentance et la conversion, c'était encore lui montrer le chemin du salut. Paul emploie ici quelques expressions qui rappellent la prédication de Jean-Baptiste. (Matthieu 3.8) Ce souvenir ne pouvait-il pas aussi faire sur le roi une sérieuse impression ?

      21 When they had preached the Good News to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,
