Après cette onction, David fut persécuté, sans que personne ne puisse d'ailleurs en tirer un quelconque avantage.Bien que tout cela ne soit qu'un faible reflet des souffrances endurées par Christ, de Sa gloire, Son autorité, toutes les prédictions annoncées à Son égard se sont pleinement accomplies. Il est le Dieu tout puissant. Il est notre Rédempteur, Le seul capable d'accomplir ce qu'il fallait pour notre salut. Recherchons tous les avantages de Ses bénédictions, manifestées par le Saint-Esprit dans notre cœur.De même que le Seigneur a sanctionné la postérité de David pour ses transgressions, ainsi fera-t-il pour Son peuple à cause de ses péchés. Il ne s'agit là que d'une verge et non d'une épée ; ce n'est qu'une correction et non une destruction. C'est une verge dans la main de Dieu, un Dieu plein de sagesse qui sait exactement ce qu'il fait ; un Dieu plein de grâce et qui ne veut faire que du bien. C'est une verge qui ne fait pas souffrir mais dont on a vraiment besoin. De même que le soleil et la lune demeurent dans les cieux, quels que soient les changements de leur apparence, ils sont toujours là, au temps voulu, en chaque saison ; il en est ainsi de la promesse de grâce faite par Christ, quels que soient les évènements, elle ne sera jamais remise en question.
