  16 et l'Arvadien, et le Tsemarien, et le Hamathien.
  
  17 Les fils de Sem : Élam, et Assur, et Arpacshad, et Lud, et Aram, et Uts, et Hul, et Guéther, et Méshec.
  
  18 -Et Arpacshad engendra Shélakh, et Shélakh engendra Héber.
  
  19 Et il naquit à Héber deux fils : le nom de l'un fut Péleg, car en ses jours la terre fut partagée ; et le nom de son frère fut Joktan.
  
  20 Et Joktan engendra Almodad, et Shéleph, et Hatsarmaveth, et Jérakh,
  
  21 et Hadoram, et Uzal, et Dikla,
  
  22 et Ébal, et Abimaël, et Sheba, et Ophir, et Havila, et Jobab :
  
  23 tous ceux-là sont fils de Joktan.

  25 Héber, Péleg, Rehu,
  
  26 Serug, Nakhor, Térakh,
  
  27 Abram, qui est Abraham.
  
  28 Les fils d'Abraham : Isaac et Ismaël.
  
  29 -Ce sont ici leurs générations : le premier-né d'Ismaël, Nebaïoth ; et Kédar, et Adbeël, et Mibsam ;

  31 Jetur, Naphish, et Kedma : ce sont là les fils d'Ismaël.
  
  32 -Et les fils de Ketura, concubine d'Abraham : elle enfanta Zimran, et Jokshan, et Medan, et Madian, et Jishbak, et Shuakh. Et les fils de Jokshan : Sheba et Dedan.
  
  33 Et les fils de Madian : Épha, et Épher, et Hénoc, et Abida, et Eldaa. Tous ceux-là étaient fils de Ketura.
  
  34 Et Abraham engendra Isaac. Les fils d'Isaac : Ésaü et Israël.
  
  35 -Les fils d'Ésaü : Éliphaz, Rehuel, et Jehush, et Jahlam, et Coré.
  
  36 -Les fils d'Éliphaz : Théman, et Omar, Tsephi, et Gahtam ; Kenaz, et Thimna, et Amalek.
  
  37 -Les fils de Rehuel : Nakhath, Zérakh, Shamma, et Mizza.
  
  38 Et les fils de Séhir : Lotan, et Shobal, et Tsibhon, et Ana, et Dishon, et Etser, et Dishan.
  
  39 -Et les fils de Lotan : Hori et Homam ; et la soeur de Lotan : Thimna.
  
  40 -Les fils de Shobal : Alian, et Manakhath, et Ébal, Shephi, et Onam. -Et les fils de Tsibhon : Aïa et Ana.
  
  41 -Les fils d'Ana : Dishon. -Et les fils de Dishon ; Hamran, et Eshban, et Jithran, et Keran.
  
  42 -Les fils d'Etser : Bilhan, et Zaavan, et Jaakan. -Les fils de Dishan : Uts et Aran.
  
  43 Et ce sont ici les rois qui régnèrent dans le pays d'Édom, avant qu'un roi régnât sur les fils d'Israël : Béla, fils de Béor ; et le nom de sa ville était Dinhaba.
  
  44 -Et Béla mourut ; et Jobab, fils de Zérakh, de Botsra, régna à sa place.
  
  45 -Et Jobab mourut ; et Husham, du pays des Thémanites régna à sa place.
  
  46 -Et Husham mourut ; et à sa place régna Hadad, fils de Bedad, qui frappa Madian dans les champs de Moab ; et le nom de sa ville était Avith.
  
  47 Et Hadad mourut ; et Samla, de Masréka, régna à sa place.
  
  48 Et Samla mourut ; et Saül, de Rehoboth sur le fleuve, régna à sa place.
  
  49 -Et Saül mourut ; et Baal-Hanan, fils d'Acbor, régna à sa place.
  
  50 -Et Baal-Hanan mourut ; et Hadad régna à sa place ; et le nom de sa ville était Pahi ; et le nom de sa femme, Mehétabeël, fille de Matred, fille de Mézahab.
  
  51 Et Hadad mourut. Et il y eut des chefs d'Édom : le chef Thimna, le chef Alia, le chef Jetheth,
  
  52 le chef Oholibama, le chef Éla, le chef Pinon,
  
  53 le chef Kenaz, le chef Théman, le chef Mibtsar,
  
  54 le chef Magdiel, le chef Iram. Ce sont là les chefs d'Édom.

  1 Ce sont ici les fils d'Israël : Ruben, Siméon, Lévi et Juda ; Issacar et Zabulon ;
  
  2 Dan, Joseph et Benjamin ; Nephthali, Gad et Aser.
  
  3 Les fils de Juda : Er, et Onan, et Shéla ; ces trois lui naquirent de la fille de Shua, la Cananéenne. Et Er, premier-né de Juda, fut méchant aux yeux de l'Éternel ; et il le fit mourir.
  
  4 Et Tamar, sa belle-fille, lui enfanta Pérets et Zérakh. Tous les fils de Juda : cinq.
  
  5 -Les fils de Pérets : Hetsron et Hamul.
  
  6 -Et les fils Zérakh : Zimri, et Éthan, et Héman, et Calcol, et Dara : cinq en tout.
  
  7 -Et les fils de Carmi : Acar, qui troubla Israël et qui pécha au sujet de l'exécration.
  
  8 -Et les fils d'Éthan : Azaria.
  
  9 Et les fils qui naquirent à Hetsron : Jerakhmeël, et Ram, et Kelubaï.
  
  10 Et Ram engendra Amminadab ; et Amminadab engendra Nakhshon, prince des fils de Juda ;
  
  11 et Nakhshon, engendra Salma ; et Salma engendra Boaz ;
  
  12 et Boaz engendra Obed ; et Obed engendra Isaï.
  
  13 Et Isaï engendra son premier-né, Éliab, et Abinadab, le second, et Shimha, le troisième ;
  
  14 Nethaneël, le quatrième ; Raddaï, le cinquième ;
  
  15 Otsem, le sixième ;
  
  16 David, le septième ; et leurs soeurs : Tseruïa et Abigaïl. -Et les fils de Tseruïa : Abishaï, et Joab, et Asçaël, trois.
  
  17 -Et Abigaïl enfanta Amasa ; et le père d'Amasa fut Jéther, Ismaélite.
  
  18 Et Caleb, fils de Hetsron, eut des enfants d'Azuba, sa femme, et de Jerioth dont voici les fils : Jésher, et Shobab, et Ardon.
  
  19 -Et Azuba mourut, et Caleb prit pour femme Éphrath, et elle lui enfanta Hur ;
  
  20 et Hur engendra Uri, et Uri engendra Betsaleël.
  
  21 -Et après cela, Hetsron vint vers la fille de Makir, père de Galaad, et la prit, lui étant âgé de soixante ans ; et elle lui enfanta Segub ;
  
  22 et Segub engendra Jaïr, et il eut vingt-trois villes dans le pays de Galaad.
  
  23 Et Gueshur et Aram leur prirent les bourgs de Jaïr, et Kenath, et les villes de son ressort, soixante villes. -Tous ceux-là furent fils de Makir, père de Galaad.
  
  24 Et après la mort de Hetsron, à Caleb-Éphratha, Abija, la femme de Hetsron, lui enfanta encore Ashkhur, père de Thekoa.
  
  25 Et les fils de Jerakhmeël, premier-né de Hetsron, furent Ram, le premier-né, et Buna, et Oren, et Otsem, d'Akhija.
  
  26 Et Jerakhmeël eut une autre femme, nommée Atara : elle fut mère d'Onam.
  
  27 -Et les fils de Ram, premier-né de Jerakhmeël furent Maats, et Jamin, et Éker.
  
  28 Et les fils d'Onam furent Shammaï et Jada ; et les fils de Shammaï : Nadab et Abishur.
  
  29 Et le nom de la femme d'Abishur était Abikhaïl ; et elle lui enfanta Akhban et Molid.
  
  30 -Et les fils de Nadab : Séled et Appaïm ; et Séled mourut sans fils.
  
  31 Et les fils d'Appaïm : Jishi ; et les fils de Jishi : Shéshan ; et les fils de Shéshan : Akhlaï.
  
  32 -Et les fils de Jada, frère de Shammaï : Jéther et Jonathan ; et Jéther mourut sans fils.
  
  33 Et les fils de Jonathan : Péleth et Zaza : ce furent là les fils de Jerakhmeël.
  
  34 Et Shéshan n'eut point de fils, mais des filles ; et Shéshan avait un serviteur égyptien nommé Jarkha ;
  
  35 et Shéshan donna sa fille pour femme à Jarkha, son serviteur, et elle lui enfanta Atthaï ;
  
  36 et Atthaï engendra Nathan, et Nathan engendra Zabad,
  
  37 et Zabad engendra Éphlal, et Éphlal engendra Obed,
  
  38 et Obed engendra Jéhu, et Jéhu engendra Azaria,
  
  39 et Azaria engendra Hélets, et Hélets engendra Elhasça,
  
  40 et Elhasça engendra Sismaï, et Sismaï engendra Shallum,
  
  41 et Shallum engendra Jekamia, et Jekamia engendra Elishama.
  
  42 Et les fils de Caleb, frère de Jerakhmeël : Mésha, son premier-né (lui est le père de Ziph), et les fils de Marésha, père de Hébron.
  
  43 Et les fils de Hébron : Coré, et Thappuakh, et Rékem, et Shéma.
  
  44 Et Shéma engendra Rakham, père de Jorkeam. Et Rékem engendra Shammaï ;
  
  45 et le fils de Shammaï fut Maon ; et Maon fut père de Beth-Tsur.
  
  46 Et Épha, concubine de Caleb, enfanta Haran, et Motsa, et Gazez ; et Haran engendra Gazez.
  
  47 -Et les fils de Jehdaï : Réguem, et Jotham, et Guéshan, et Péleth, et Épha, et Shaaph.
  
  48 -La concubine de Caleb, Maaca, enfanta Shéber et Tirkhana ;
  
  49 et elle enfanta Shaaph, père de Madmanna, Sheva, père de Macbéna et père de Guibha ; et la fille de Caleb fut Acsa.
  
  50 Ce sont ici les fils de Caleb : les fils de Hur, premier-né d'Éphratha : Shobal, père de Kiriath-Jéarim ;
  
  51 Salma, père de Bethléhem ; Hareph, père de Beth-Gader.
  
  52 -Et Shobal, père de Kiriath-Jéarim, eut des fils : Haroé, Hatsi-Hammenukhoth.
  
  53 Et les familles de Kiriath-Jéarim furent : les Jéthriens, et les Puthiens, et les Shumathiens, et les Mishraïens ; de ceux-ci sont sortis les Tsorhathiens et les Eshtaoliens.
  
  54 -Les fils de Salma : Bethléhem, et les Netophathites, Atroth-Beth-Joab, et les Hatsi-Manakhthiens, les Tsorhiens ;
  
  55 et les familles des scribes, habitant Jahbets : les Tirhathiens, les Shimhathiens, les Sucathiens. Ceux-là sont les Kéniens, qui sont sortis de Hammath, père de la maison de Récab.

  18 Arpakchad fut le père de Chélah, et Chélah fut le père d’Héber.
  
  19 Héber eut deux fils : l’un s’appelait Péleg (Partage) parce que de son temps la terre fut partagée, et son frère s’appelait Yoqtân.
  
  20 Yoqtân fut le père d’Almodad, Chéléph, Hatsarmaveth, Yérah,
  
  21 Hadoram, Ouzal, Diqla,
  
  22 Obal, Abimaël, Saba, Ophir, Havila et Yobab.
  
  23 Tous ceux-là étaient des descendants de Yoqtân.
  
  24 Sem, Arpakchad, Chélah,
  
  25 Héber, Péleg, Reou,
  
  26 Seroug, Nahor, Térah,
  
  27 Abram, c’est-à-dire Abraham.
  
  28 Abraham eut pour fils : Isaac et Ismaël.
  
  29 Voici leur postérité : le fils aîné d’Ismaël s’appelait Nebayoth, puis viennent Qédar, Adbeél, Mibsam,
  
  30 Michma, Douma, Massa, Hadad, Téma,
  
  31 Yetour, Nappich et Qedma. Tels sont les fils d’Ismaël.
  
  32 Qetoura, épouse de second rang d’Abraham, donna naissance à Zimrân, Yoqchân, Medân, Madian, Yichbaq et Chouah. Fils de Yoqchân : Saba et Dedân.
  
  33 Fils de Madian : Epha, Epher, Hénok, Abida et Eldaa. Tous ceux-là sont les descendants de Qetoura.
  
  34 Abraham eut pour fils Isaac qui eut pour fils : Esaü et Israël.
  
  35 Fils d’Esaü : Eliphaz, Reouel, Yeouch, Yaelam et Qorah.

  46 Après la mort de Houcham, Hadad, fils de Bedad, régna à sa place. Il battit les Madianites dans la campagne de Moab ; il venait de la ville d’Avith.
  
  47 Après la mort de Hadad, Samla, de Masréqa, régna à sa place.
  
  48 Puis après la mort de Samla, Saül, de Rehoboth sur le fleuve, régna à sa place.
  
  49 Après la mort de Saül, Baal-Hanân, fils d’Akbor, régna à sa place.
  
  50 Après la mort de Baal-Hanân, Hadad régna à sa place. Sa ville s’appelait Paou, le nom de sa femme était Mehétabeél, fille de Matréd, et petite-fille de Mézahab.
  
  51 Après la mort de Hadad, des chefs de familles gouvernèrent Edom. Ce furent les chefs Timna, Alva, Yetéth,
  
  52 Oholibama, Ela, Pinôn,
  
  53 Qenaz, Témân, Mibtsar,
  
  54 Magdiel et Iram. Tels sont les chefs d’Edom.

  1 Voici la liste des fils d’Israël. Ruben, Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issacar, Zabulon,
  
  2 Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Nephtali, Gad et Aser.
  
  3 Juda eut trois fils, de sa femme cananéenne, la fille de Choua : Er, Onân, Chéla. Er, le fils aîné de Juda, était jugé mauvais par l’Eternel qui le fit mourir.
  
  4 Tamar, la belle-fille de Juda, lui donna Pérets et Zérah. Juda eut donc en tout cinq fils.
  
  5 Fils de Pérets : Hetsrôn et Hamoul.
  
  6 Fils de Zérah : Zimri, Etân, Hémân, Kalkol et Darda, cinq en tout.
  
  7 Fils de Karmi : Akar (Trouble), qui fut cause de désordre en Israël lorsqu’il commit une infidélité à l’égard de ce qui était *voué à l’Eternel.
  
  8 Fils d’Etân : Azaria.
  
  9 Fils de Hetsrôn : Yerahmeél, Ram et Keloubaï.
  
  10 Ram eut pour fils Amminadab, qui eut pour fils Nahchôn, chef des descendants de Juda.
  
  11 Nahchôn eut pour fils Salma, qui eut pour fils Booz,
  
  12 qui eut pour fils Obed, qui eut pour fils Isaï.
  
  13 Isaï eut pour fils : Eliab, son aîné, Abinadab, son deuxième, Chimea, son troisième.
  
  14 Netaneél, son quatrième, Raddaï, son cinquième,
  
  15 Otsem son sixième, et David son septième.
  
  16 Leurs sœurs étaient Tserouya et Abigaïl. Tserouya eut trois fils : Abchaï, Joab et Asaël.
  
  17 Abigaïl eut un fils, Amasa, de Yétér, l’Ismaélite.
  
  18 Caleb, fils de Hetsrôn, eut de sa femme Azouba une fille, Yerioth, et trois fils, Yécher, Chobab et Ardôn.
  
  19 Azouba mourut, et Caleb prit pour femme Ephrath, qui lui donna Hour.
  
  20 Hour eut pour fils Ouri, et Ouri Betsaleél.
  
  21 Ensuite, alors qu’il avait soixante ans, Hetsrôn s’unit à la fille de Makir, le père de Galaad, et l’épousa. Elle lui donna Ségoub.
  
  22 Ségoub eut pour fils Yaïr, qui posséda vingt-trois villes dans le pays de Galaad.
  
  23 Mais les Guéchouriens et les Syriens prirent de ses descendants les bourgs de Yaïr ainsi que la ville de Qenath et les villes qui en dépendaient, ce qui faisait en tout soixante villes. Tous ceux qui y habitaient étaient des descendants de Makir, le père de Galaad.
  
  24 Après la mort de Hetsrôn à Caleb-Ephrata, Abiya, sa femme, donna encore naissance à un fils de lui : Achhour, le père de Teqoa.
  
  25 Les fils de Yerahmeél, premier-né de Hetsrôn, furent : Ram, l’aîné, Bouna, Orên, Otsem, et Ahiya.
  
  26 Yerahmeél eut une autre femme, Atara, qui lui donna Onam.
  
  27 Les fils de Ram, le premier-né de Yerahmeél, furent : Maats, Yamîn et Eqer.
  
  28 Les fils d’Onam furent : Chammaï et Yada. Fils de Chammaï : Nadab et Abichour.
  
  29 La femme d’Abichour s’appelait Abihaïl, elle lui donna Ahbân et Molid.
  
  30 Fils de Nadab : Séled et Appaïm. Séled mourut sans enfant.
  
  31 Fils d’Appaïm : Yischeï qui fut le père de Chéchân. Chéchân fut le père de Ahlaï.
  
  32 Fils de Yada, frère de Chammaï : Yéter et Jonathan. Yéter mourut sans enfant.
  
  33 Fils de Jonathan : Péleth et Zaza. Ce sont là les descendants de Yérahmeél.
  
  34 Chéchân n’avait pas de fils, il n’avait que des filles. Il avait un esclave égyptien nommé Yarha
  
  35 à qui il donna l’une de ses filles pour femme ; celle-ci lui donna Attaï.
  
  36 Attaï fut le père de Nathan, Nathan celui de Zabad,
  
  37 Zabad d’Ephlal, Ephlal d’Obed,
  
  38 Obed de Jéhu, Jéhu d’Azaria,
  
  39 Azaria de Hélets, Hélets d’Elasa,
  
  40 Elasa de Sismaï, Sismaï de Challoum,
  
  41 Challoum de Yeqamya, Yeqamya d’Elichama.
  
  42 Fils de Caleb, le frère de Yerahmeél : Mécha, son premier-né, qui fut le père de Ziph, et Marécha, le père d’Hébron.
  
  43 Fils d’Hébron : Qorah, Tappouah, Réqem et Chema.
  
  44 Chema fut le père de Raham, et Raham le père de Yorqeam. Réqem fut le père de Chammaï.
  
  45 Chammaï eut pour fils Maôn, le père de Beth-Tsour.
  
  46 Epha, épouse de second rang de Caleb, lui donna Harân, Motsa et Gazez. Harân fut le père de Gazez.
  
  47 Fils de Yahdaï : Réguém, Yotam, Guéchân, Péleth, Epha, et Chaaph.
  
  48 Maaka, une autre épouse de second rang de Caleb, lui donna Chébér et Tirhana.
  
  49 Plus tard, elle donna encore naissance à Chaaph, le père de Madmanna, et à Cheva, le père de Makbéna et de Guibéa. De plus, Caleb avait une fille nommée Aksa.
  
  50 Tels furent les descendants de Caleb. Fils de Hour : le premier-né de son épouse Ephrata, Chobal, père de Qiryath-Yearim,
  
  51 Salma, père de Bethléhem et Hareph, celui de Beth-Gadér.
  
  52 Chobal, le père de Qiryath-Yearim eut des fils : Haroé et Hatsi-Hammenouhoth.
  
  53 Les familles de Qiryath-Yearim furent : les Yétériens, les Pouriens, les Choumatiens et les Michraïens ; de celles-là sont sortis les Tsoreatiens et les Echtaoliens.
  
  54 Descendants de Salma : les habitants de Bethléhem, de Netopha, d’Arroth-Beth-Joab, d’Hatsi-Hammanahti et de Tsoreïa
  
  55 ainsi que les familles des gens instruits habitant à Yaebets, les Tireatiens, les Chimeatiens et les Soukkatiens. Ce sont les Qéniens, issus de Hamath, ancêtre du groupe familial de Rékab.

  23 Geshur and Aram took the towns of Jair from them, with Kenath, and its villages, even sixty cities. All these were the sons of Machir the father of Gilead.
  
  24 After that Hezron was dead in Caleb Ephrathah, then Abijah Hezron's wife bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.
  
  25 The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron were Ram the firstborn, and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem, Ahijah.
  
  26 Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.
