      1 Or ce sont ici les enfants de David, qui lui naquirent à Hébron. Le premier-né fut Amnon, fils d'Ahinoham de Jizréhel ; le second Daniel, d'Abigaïl du mont Carmel.
      2 Le troisième Absalom fils de Mahaca, fille de Talmaï Roi de Guésur ; le quatrième Adonija, fils de Hagguith ;
      3 Le cinquième Sephatia, d'Abital ; le sixième Jithréham, d'Hégla sa femme.
      4 Ces six lui naquirent à Hébron, où il régna sept ans et six mois ; puis il régna trente-trois ans à Jérusalem.
      5 Et ceux-ci lui naquirent à Jérusalem, Simha, Sobab, Nathan, et Salomon, [tous] quatre de Bathsuah, fille d'Hammiël ;
      6 Et Jibhar, Elisamah, Eliphelet,
      7 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhiah,
      8 Elisamah, Eliadah, et Eliphelet, qui sont neuf.
      9 Tous enfants de David, outre les enfants des concubines, et Tamar leur soeur.
      10 Le fils de Salomon fut Roboam ; duquel fut fils Abija ; duquel fut fils Asa ; duquel fut fils Josaphat ;
      11 Duquel fut fils Joram ; duquel fut fils Achazia ; duquel fut fils Joas ;
      12 Duquel fut fils Amatsia ; duquel fut fils Hazaria ; duquel fut fils Jotham ;
      13 Duquel fut fils Achaz ; duquel fut fils Ezéchias ; duquel fut fils Manassé ;
      14 Duquel fut fils Amon ; duquel fut fils Josias.
      15 Et les enfants de Josias furent Johanan son premier-né, le second Jéhojakim, le troisième Sédécias, le quatrième Sallum.
      16 Et les enfants de Jéhojakim furent Jéchonias son fils, qui eut pour fils Sédécias.
      17 Et quant aux enfants de Jéchonias qui fut emmené en captivité, Salathiël fut son fils ;
      18 Dont les fils furent Malkiram, Pédaja, Senatsar, Jékamia, Hosamah, et Nédabia.
      19 Et les enfants de Pédaja furent Zorobabel, et Simhi ; et les enfants de Zorobabel furent Mésullam, Hanania, et Sélomith leur soeur.
      20 Et de [Mésullam] Hasuba, Ohel, Bérécia, Hasadia, et Jusab-hesed, [en tout] cinq.
      21 Et les enfants de Hanania furent Pelatia, et Esaïe. Les enfants de Réphaja, les enfants d'Arnan, les enfants de Hobadia, [et] les enfants de Sécania.
      22 Et les enfants de Sécania, Sémahja ; et les enfants de Sémahja, Hattus, Jiguéal, Bariah, Neharia, Saphat, [en tout] six.
      23 Et les enfants de Neharia furent ces trois Eliohenaï, Ezéchias, et Hazrikam.
      24 Et les enfants d'Eliohenaï furent ces sept Hodaivahu, Eliasib, Pélaïa, Hakkub, Johanan, Delaja, et Hanani.

      1 Les enfants de Juda furent Pharez, Hetsron, Carmi, Hur, et Sobal.
      2 Et Reaja fils de Sobal engendra Jahath, et Jahath engendra Ahumaï, et Ladad. Ce sont là les familles des Tsorhathiens.
      3 Et ceux-ci sont du père de Hétham, Jizréhel, Jisma, et Jidbas, et le nom de leur soeur était Hatselelponi.
      4 Et Penuël père de Guédor, et Hézer père de Husa ; ce sont là les enfants de Hur, premier-né d'Ephrat père de Bethléhem.
      5 Et Ashur, père de Tékoah, eut deux femmes, Héléa, et Nahara.
      6 Et Nahara lui enfanta Ahuzam, Hepher, Témeni, et Hahastari : ce [sont] là les enfants de Nahara.
      7 Et les enfants de Héléa furent Tséreth, Jetsohar, et Etnan.
      8 Et Kots engendra Hanub, et Tsobeba, et les familles d'Ahathel, fils de Harum ;
      9 Entre lesquelles il y eut Jahbets plus distingué que ses frères ; et sa mère lui avait donné le nom de Jahbets, parce que, dit-elle, je l'ai enfanté avec travail.
      10 Or Jahbets invoqua le Dieu d'Israël, en disant : Ô ! Si tu me bénissais abondamment, et que tu étendisses mes limites, et que ta main fût avec moi, et que tu me garantisses tellement du mal, que je fusse sans douleur. Et Dieu lui accorda ce qu'il avait demandé.
      11 Et Kélub frère de Suha engendra Méhir, qui [fut] père d'Eston.
      12 Et Eston engendra Beth-rapha, Paséah, et Téhinna, père d'Hirnahas ; ce sont là les gens de Réca.
      13 Et les enfants de Kénaz furent, Hothniel et Séraja. Et les enfants de Hothniel, Hathath.
      14 Et Méhonothaï engendra Hophra ; et Séraja engendra Joab père de la vallée des ouvriers ; car ils étaient ouvriers.
      15 Et les enfants de Caleb, fils de Jéphunné, furent, Hiru, Ela, et Naham. Et les enfants d'Ela, Kénaz.
      16 Et les enfants de Jehallelel furent, Ziph, Zipha, Tiria, et Asarel.
      17 Et les enfants d'Esdras furent, Jéther, Méred, Hépher, et Jalon ; et [la femme de Méred] enfanta Marie, Sammaï, et Jisbah père d'Estemoah.
      18 Et sa femme Jéhudija enfanta Jéred père de Guédor, et Héber père de Soco, et Jékuthiel père de Zanoah. Mais ceux-là [sont] les enfants de Bithia fille de Pharaon, que Méred prit [pour femme].
      19 Et les enfants de la femme de Hodija, soeur de Naham, furent le père de Kéhila Garmien, et Estemoah Mahacatien.
      20 Et les enfants de Simmon [furent], Amnon, Rinna, Ben-hanan, et Tilon. Et les enfants de Jishi furent, Zoheth, et Ben-zoheth.
      21 Les enfants de Séla fils de Juda, [furent], Hel père de Léca, et Lahda père de Marésa, et les familles de la maison de l'ouvrage du fin lin, qui sont de la maison d'Absbéath.
      22 Et Jokim, et les gens de Cozeba, et Joas, et Saraph, qui dominèrent sur Moab, et Jasubiléhem ; mais ce sont là des choses anciennes).
      23 Ils furent potiers de terre, et gens qui se tenaient dans les vergers et dans les parcs, [et] qui habitaient là chez le Roi pour son ouvrage.
      24 Les enfants de Siméon furent, Némuël, Jamin, Jarib, Zérah, et Saül.
      25 Sallum son fils, Mibsam son fils, et Mismah son fils.
      26 Et les enfants de Mismah furent Hamuël son fils, Zacur son fils, et Simhi son fils.
      27 Et Simhi eut seize fils et six filles ; mais ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup d'enfants, et toute leur famille ne put être aussi nombreuse que celle des enfants de Juda.
      28 Et ils habitèrent à Béer-sebah, à Molada, à Hatsar-stuhal,
      29 A Bilha, à Hetsem, à Tholad,
      30 A Betuël, à Horma, à Tsiklag,
      31 A Beth-marcaboth, à Hatsarsusim, à Beth-birei, et à Saharajim. Ce furent là leurs villes jusqu'au temps que David fut Roi.
      32 Et leurs bourgades furent, Hétam, Hajin, Rimmon, Token, et Hassan, cinq villes ;
      33 Et tous leurs villages, qui étaient autour de ces villes-là, jusqu'à Bahal. Ce sont là leurs habitations, et leur généalogie.
      34 Or Mésobab, Jamlec, Josa fils d'Amatsia ;
      35 Joël, Jéhu fils de Josibia, fils de Séraja, fils de Hasiel ;
      36 Eliohenaï, Jahakoba, Jésahaja, Hasaïa, Hadiël, Jésimiël, Bénéja.
      37 Et Ziza, fils de Siphehi, fils d'Allon, fils de Jedaja, fils de Simri, fils de Semahja ;
      38 Etaient ceux qui avaient été nommés pour être les principaux dans leurs familles, lorsque les maisons de leurs pères multiplièrent beaucoup.
      39 Et ils partirent pour entrer dans Guédor, jusqu'à l'Orient de la vallée, cherchant des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
      40 Et ils trouvèrent des pâturages gras et bons, et un pays spacieux, paisible, et fertile ; car ceux qui avaient habité là auparavant étaient descendus de Cam.
      41 Ceux-ci donc qui ont été décrits par leurs noms, vinrent du temps d'Ezéchias Roi de Juda, et abattirent leurs tentes, et les habitations qui y furent trouvées, et les détruisirent à la façon de l'interdit, jusqu'à ce jour, et y habitèrent à leur place, car il y avait là des pâturages pour leurs brebis.
      42 Et cinq cents hommes d'entr'eux, [c'est-à-dire], des enfants de Siméon, s'en allèrent en la montagne de Séhir, et ils avaient pour leurs chefs Pelatia, Néharia, Rephaia, et Huziël, enfants de Jishi ;
      43 Et ils frappèrent le reste des réchappés des Hamalécites, et ils ont habité là jusqu'à aujourd'hui.

      1 Or les enfants de Ruben, le premier-né d'Israël (car il était le premier-né ; mais après qu'il eut souillé le lit de son père, son droit d'aînesse fut donné aux enfants de Joseph fils d'Israël ; non cependant pour être [mis le premier] dans la généalogie selon le droit d'aînesse ;
      2 Car Juda fut le plus puissant entre ses frères, et de lui sont sortis les Conducteurs ; mais le droit d'aînesse fut donné à Joseph.)
      3 Les enfants, [dis-je], de Ruben premier-né d'Israël, furent, Hénoc, Pallu, Hetsron, et Carmi.
      4 Les enfants de Joël furent Sémaia son fils, Gog son fils, Simhi son fils.
      5 Mica son fils, Réaia son fils, Bahal son fils,
      6 Bééra son fils, qui fut transporté par Tiglat-Piletséer Roi des Assyriens ; c'est lui qui était le principal chef des Rubénites.
      7 Et ses frères selon leurs familles, quand ils furent mis dans la généalogie selon leurs parentages, avaient pour Chefs Jehiël, et Zécaria.
      8 Et Bélah fils de Hazaz, fils de Samah, fils de Johel, habitait depuis Haroher jusqu'à Necò et Bahal-méhon.
      9 Ensuite il habita du côté de l'Orient jusqu'à l'entrée du désert, depuis le fleuve d'Euphrate ; car son bétail s'était multiplié au pays de Galaad.
      10 Et du temps de Saül ils firent la guerre contre les Hagaréniens, qui moururent par leurs mains, et ils habitèrent dans leurs tentes, en tout le pays qui regarde vers l'Orient de Galaad.
      11 Et les enfants de Gad habitèrent près d'eux, au pays de Basan, jusqu'à Salca.
      12 Joël fut le premier Chef, et Saphan le second après lui, puis Jahnaï, puis Saphat en Basan.
      13 Et leurs frères selon la maison de leurs pères, [furent] sept, Micaël, Mesullam, Sébah, Joraï, Jahcan, Ziah, et Héber.
      14 Ceux-ci furent les enfants d'Abihaïl fils de Huri, fils de Jaroah, fils de Galaad, fils de Micaël, fils de Jésisaï, fils de Jahdo, fils de Buz.
      15 Ahi fils de Habdiël, fils de Guni, fut le Chef de la maison de leurs pères.
      16 Et ils habitèrent en Galaad, [et] en Basan, et dans les villes de son ressort, et dans tous les faubourgs de Saron, selon leurs limites.
      17 Tous ceux-ci furent mis dans la généalogie du temps de Jotham Roi de Juda, et du temps de Jéroboam Roi d'Israël.
      18 Il y eut des enfants de Ruben, et de ceux de Gad, et de la demi-Tribu de Manassé, d'entre les vaillants hommes, portant le bouclier et l'épée, tirant de l'arc, et propres à la guerre, quarante-quatre mille sept cent soixante, marchant en bataille ;
      19 Qui firent la guerre contre les Hagaréniens, contre Jéthur, Naphis, et Nodab.
      20 Et ils furent aidés contr'eux, de sorte que les Hagaréniens, et tous ceux qui étaient avec eux, furent livrés entre leurs mains, parce qu'ils crièrent à Dieu quand ils combattaient, et il fut fléchi par leurs prières, à cause qu'ils avaient mis leur espérance en lui.
      21 Ainsi ils prirent leur bétail, consistant en cinquante mille chameaux, deux cent cinquante mille brebis, deux mille ânes, et cent mille personnes.
      22 Et il en tomba morts un fort grand nombre, parce que la bataille venait de Dieu ; et ils habitèrent là en leur place, jusqu'au temps qu'ils furent transportés.
      23 Les enfants de la demi-Tribu de Manassé habitèrent aussi en ce pays-là, et s'étendirent depuis Basan jusqu'à Bahal-hermon et à Sénir, qui est la montagne de Hermon.
      24 Et ce sont ici les Chefs de la maison de leurs pères ; Hépher, Jisehi, Eliël, Hazriël, Jérémie, Hodavia, et Jacdiël, hommes forts et vaillants, gens de réputation, et Chefs de la maison de leurs pères.
      25 Mais ils péchèrent contre le Dieu de leurs pères, et paillardèrent après les dieux des peuples du pays, que l'Eternel avait détruits devant eux.
      26 Et le Dieu d'Israël émut l'esprit de Pul Roi des Assyriens, et l'esprit de Tiglath-Pilhéser Roi des Assyriens, qui transporta les Rubénites, et les Gadites, et la demi-Tribu de Manassé, et les emmena à Chalach, à Chabor, à Hara, et au fleuve de Gozan, [où ils sont demeurés] jusqu'à ce jour.

      18 et Malkiram, et Pedaïa, et Shenatsar, Jekamia, Hoshama, et Nedabia.
      19 -Et les fils de Pedaïa : Zorobabel et Shimhi. Et les fils de Zorobabel : Meshullam et Hanania, et Shelomith, leur soeur ;
      20 et Hashuba, et Ohel, et Bérékia, et Hasadia, et Jushab-Hésed, cinq.
      21 -Et les fils de Hanania : Pelatia et Ésaïe ; les fils de Rephaïa, les fils d'Arnan, les fils d'Abdias, les fils de Shecania.
      22 Et les fils de Shecania : Shemahia ; et les fils de Shemahia : Hattush, et Jighal, et Bariakh, et Nearia, et Shaphath, six.
      23 -Et les fils de Nearia : Elioénaï, et Ézéchias, et Azrikam, trois.
      24 -Et les fils d'Élioénaï : Hodavia, et Éliashib, et Pelaïa, et Akkub, et Jokhanan, et Delaïa, et Anani, sept.

      2 Et Reaïa, fils de Shobal, engendra Jakhath ; et Jakhath engendra Akhumaï et Lahad. Ce sont les familles des Tsorhathiens.
      3 -Et ceux-ci sont du père d'Étam : Jizreël, et Jishma, et Jidbash ; et le nom de leur soeur était Hatselelponi ;
      4 et Penuel, père de Guedor ; et Ézer, père de Husha : ce sont les fils de Hur, premier-né d'Éphratha, père de Bethléhem.
      5 -Et Ashkhur, père de Thekoa, eut deux femmes, Héléa et Naara.
      6 -Et Naara lui enfanta Akhuzzam, et Hépher, et Themni, et Akhashtari : ce sont les fils de Naara.
      7 -Et les fils de Hélea : Tséreth, et Tsokhar, et Ethnan.
      8 -Et Kots engendra Anub, et Tsobéba, et les familles d'Akharkhel, fils d'Harum.
      9 Jahbets fut plus honoré que ses frères ; et sa mère l'avait appelé du nom de Jahbets, disant : Je l'ai enfanté avec douleur.
      10 Et Jahbets invoqua le Dieu d'Israël, disant : Si tu me bénissais abondamment, et si tu étendais mes limites, et si ta main était avec moi, et si tu me mettais à l'abri du mal, en sorte que je fusse sans douleur ! Et Dieu fit arriver ce qu'il avait demandé.
      11 Et Kelub, frère de Shukha, engendra Mekhir ; il fut père d'Eshton.
      12 Et Eshton engendra Beth-Rapha, et Paséakh, et Thekhinna, père de la ville de Nakhash : ce sont les gens de Réca.
      13 -Et les fils de Kenaz : Othniel et Seraïa ; et les fils d'Othniel : Hathath.
      14 Méonothaï engendra Ophra ; et Seraïa engendra Joab, père de la vallée des artisans ; car ils étaient artisans.
      15 -Et les fils de Caleb, fils de Jephunné : Iru, Éla, et Naam ; et les fils d'Éla,... et Kenaz.
      16 -Et les fils de Jehalléleël : Ziph, et Zipha, Tiria, et Asçareël.
      17 -Et les fils d'Esdras : Jéther, et Méred, et Épher, et Jalon ; et elle conçut, et enfanta Miriam, et Shammaï, et Jishbakh, père d'Eshtemoa.
      18 Et sa femme, la Juive, enfanta Jéred, père de Guedor, et Héber, père de Soco, et Jekuthiel, père de Zanoakh. Et ceux-là sont les fils de Bithia, fille du Pharaon, que Méred prit pour femme.
      19 -Et les fils de la femme d'Hodija, soeur de Nakham : le père de Kehila, le Garmien, et Eshtemoa, le Maacathien.
      20 -Et les fils de Shimon : Amnon, et Rinna, Ben-Hanan, et Thilon. -Et les fils de Jishi : Zokheth et Ben-Zokheth.
      21 Les fils de Shéla, fils de Juda : Er, père de Léca, et Lahda, père de Marésha, et les familles de la maison des ouvriers en byssus de la maison d'Ashbéa,
      22 et Jokim, et les gens de Cozéba, et Joas, et Saraph, qui dominèrent en Moab, et Jashubi-Lékhem. Ce sont des choses anciennes.
      23 C'étaient les potiers, et les gens qui se tenaient dans les plantations et dans les enclos ; ils habitaient là, auprès du roi, pour ses travaux.
      24 Les fils de Siméon : Nemuel, et Jamin, Jarib, Zérakh, et Saül ;
      25 Shallum, son fils ; Mibsam, son fils ; Mishma, son fils.
      26 Et les fils de Mishma : Hammuel, son fils ; Zaccur, son fils ; Shimhi, son fils.
      27 Et Shimhi eut seize fils et six filles. Et ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup de fils, et toutes leurs familles ne se multiplièrent pas comme les fils de Juda.
      28 Et ils habitèrent à Beër-Sheba, et à Molada,
      29 et à Hatsar-Shual, et à Bilha, et à Etsem, et à Tholad,
      30 et à Bethuel, et à Horma, et à Tsiklag,
      31 et à Beth-Marcaboth, et à Hatsar-Susim, et à Beth-Biri, et à Shaaraïm. Ce furent leurs villes jusqu'au règne de David.
      32 Et leurs villages : Étam, et Aïn, Rimmon, et Thoken, et Ashan, cinq villes,
      33 et tous leurs villages qui étaient autour de ces villes, jusqu'à Baal. Ce sont là leurs habitations et leur registre généalogique.
      34 -Et Meshobab, et Jamlec, et Josha, fils d'Amatsia ;

      9 et il habita au levant jusqu'à l'entrée du désert, du côté du fleuve Euphrate, car leurs troupeaux s'étaient multipliés dans le pays de Galaad.
      10 aux jours de Saül, ils firent la guerre contre les Hagaréniens, et ceux-ci tombèrent par leur main ; et ils habitèrent dans leurs tentes, dans tout le pays à l'orient de Galaad.
      11 Et les fils de Gad habitèrent à côté d'eux dans le pays de Basan, jusqu'à Salca :
      12 Joël, le chef, et Shapham, le second ; et Jahnaï et Shaphath, en Basan.
      13 Et leurs frères, selon leurs maisons de pères : Micaël, et Meshullam, et Shéba, et Joraï, et Jahcan, et Zia, et Éber, sept.
      14 -Ceux-ci furent les fils d'Abikhaïl, fils de Huri, fils de Jaroakh, fils de Galaad, fils de Micaël, fils de Jeshishaï, fils de Jakhdo, fils de Buz :
      15 fils d'Abdiel, fils de Guni, chef de leur maison de pères.
      16 Et ils habitèrent en Galaad, en Basan, et dans les villages de leur ressort, et dans tous les pâturages de Saron jusqu'à leurs issues.

      18 Les fils de Ruben, et les Gadites, et la demi-tribu de Manassé, d'entre les vaillants, des hommes portant l'écu et l'épée, tirant de l'arc, et instruits pour la guerre : quarante-deux mille sept cent soixante, en état d'aller à l'armée.
      19 Ils firent la guerre contre les Hagaréniens, contre Jetur, et Naphish, et Nodab ;
      20 et ils furent aidés contre eux, et les Hagaréniens, et tous ceux qui étaient avec eux furent livrés en leur main ; car ils crièrent à Dieu dans la bataille, et il se rendit à leurs prières, car ils avaient mis leur confiance en lui.

      23 Et les fils de la demi-tribu de Manassé habitèrent dans le pays, depuis Basan jusqu'à Baal-Hermon, et à Senir, et à la montagne de l'Hermon : ils étaient nombreux.
      24 Et ce sont ici les chefs de leurs maisons de pères : Épher, et Jishi, et Éliel, et Azriel, et Jérémie, et Hodavia, et Jakhdiel, forts et vaillants hommes, gens de renom, chefs de leurs maisons de pères.
      25 Mais ils péchèrent contre le Dieu de leurs pères, et se prostituèrent après les dieux des peuples du pays, que Dieu avait détruits devant eux.
      26 Et le Dieu d'Israël réveilla l'esprit de Pul, roi d'Assyrie, et l'esprit de Tilgath-Pilnéser, roi d'Assyrie, et il transporta les Rubénites, et les Gadites, et la demi-tribu de Manassé, et les emmena à Khalakh, et à Khabor, et à Hara, et au fleuve de Gozan, où ils sont jusqu'à ce jour.

      11 Chelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
      12 Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These are the men of Recah.
      13 The sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath.
      14 Meonothai became the father of Ophrah: and Seraiah became the father of Joab the father of Ge Harashim; for they were craftsmen.
      15 The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah; and Kenaz.
      16 The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
      17 The sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she bore Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
      18 His wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. These are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.
      19 The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

      21 The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those who worked fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;
      22 and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. The records are ancient.
      23 These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: there they lived with the king for his work.
      24 The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;
      25 Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
      26 The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.
      27 Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers didn't have many children, neither did all their family multiply like the children of Judah.
      28 They lived at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,
      29 and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,
      30 and at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,
      31 and at Beth Marcaboth, and Hazar Susim, and at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities to the reign of David.
      32 Their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;
      33 and all their villages that were around the same cities, to Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy.
      34 Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,
      35 and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
      36 and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,
      37 and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah--
      38 these mentioned by name were princes in their families: and their fathers' houses increased greatly.
      39 They went to the entrance of Gedor, even to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
      40 They found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for those who lived there before were of Ham.
      41 These written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and struck their tents, and the Meunim who were found there, and destroyed them utterly to this day, and lived in their place; because there was pasture there for their flocks.
      42 Some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to Mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
      43 They struck the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

      20 They were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and he was entreated of them, because they put their trust in him.
      21 They took away their livestock; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand.
      22 For there fell many slain, because the war was of God. They lived in their place until the captivity.

      25 They trespassed against the God of their fathers, and played the prostitute after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
      26 The God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan, to this day.
