- Deutéronome 11
  
  1 Therefore you shall love Yahweh your God, and keep his instructions, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, always.
  
  2 Know this day: for I don't speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm,
  
  3 and his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land;
  
  4 and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Yahweh has destroyed them to this day;
  
  5 and what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came to this place;
  
  6 and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel:
  
  7 but your eyes have seen all the great work of Yahweh which he did.
  
  8 Therefore you shall keep all the commandment which I command you this day, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land, where you go over to possess it;
  
  9 and that you may prolong your days in the land, which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give to them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.
  
  10 For the land, where you go in to possess it, isn't as the land of Egypt, that you came out from, where you sowed your seed, and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs;
  
  11 but the land, where you go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water of the rain of the sky,
  
  12 a land which Yahweh your God cares for: the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.
  
  13 It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
  
  14 that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your new wine, and your oil.
  
  15 I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.
  
  16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
  
  17 and the anger of Yahweh be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky, so that there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which Yahweh gives you.
  
  18 Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes.
  
  19 You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
  
  20 You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates;
  
  21 that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.
  
  22 For if you shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him;
  
  23 then will Yahweh drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.
  
  24 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the hinder sea shall be your border.
  
  25 No man shall be able to stand before you: Yahweh your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you shall tread on, as he has spoken to you.
  
  26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:
  
  27 the blessing, if you shall listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I command you this day;
  
  28 and the curse, if you shall not listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known.
  
  29 It shall happen, when Yahweh your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal.
  
  30 Aren't they beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah, over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
  
  31 For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and you shall possess it, and dwell therein.
  
  32 You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.
  
  Psaumes 95
  
  1 Oh come, let's sing to Yahweh. Let's shout aloud to the rock of our salvation!
  
  2 Let's come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let's extol him with songs!
  
  3 For Yahweh is a great God, a great King above all gods.
  
  4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his.
  
  5 The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land.
  
  6 Oh come, let's worship and bow down. Let's kneel before Yahweh, our Maker,
  
  7 for he is our God. We are the people of his pasture, and the sheep in his care. Today, oh that you would hear his voice!
  
  8 Don't harden your heart, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
  
  9 when your fathers tempted me, tested me, and saw my work.
  
  10 Forty long years I was grieved with that generation, and said, "It is a people that errs in their heart. They have not known my ways."
  
  11 Therefore I swore in my wrath, "They won't enter into my rest."
  
  Psaumes 96
  
  1 Sing to Yahweh a new song! Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
  
  2 Sing to Yahweh! Bless his name! Proclaim his salvation from day to day!
  
  3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.
  
  4 For great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised! He is to be feared above all gods.
  
  5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.
  
  6 Honor and majesty are before him. Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
  
  7 Ascribe to Yahweh, you families of nations, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
  
  8 Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts.
  
  9 Worship Yahweh in holy array. Tremble before him, all the earth.
  
  10 Say among the nations, "Yahweh reigns." The world is also established. It can't be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity.
  
  11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice. Let the sea roar, and its fullness!
  
  12 Let the field and all that is in it exult! Then all the trees of the woods shall sing for joy
  
  13 before Yahweh; for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, the peoples with his truth.
  
  Esaïe 39
  
  1 At that time, Merodach Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he heard that he had been sick, and had recovered.
  
  2 Hezekiah was pleased with them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn't show them.
  
  3 Then Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah, and asked him, "What did these men say? Where did they come from to you?" Hezekiah said, "They have come from a country far from me, even from Babylon."
  
  4 Then he asked, "What have they seen in your house?" Hezekiah answered, "They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them."
  
  5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of Yahweh of Armies:
  
  6 'Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,' says Yahweh.
  
  7 'They will take away your sons who will issue from you, whom you shall father, and they will be eunuchs in the king of Babylon's palace.'"
  
  8 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "Yahweh's word which you have spoken is good." He said moreover, "For there will be peace and truth in my days."

  Les grandes choses que l'Éternel a faites pour Israël. (Deutéronome 11:1-7)
  Les promesses divines et les châtiments. (Deutéronome 11:8-17)
  Il est demandé au peuple, d'étudier soigneusement les commandements divins. (Deutéronome 11:18-25)
  Bénédictions et afflictions. (Deutéronome 11:26-32)
  Remarquez l'association de ces deux directives : la première, « tu aimeras ton Dieu », et la deuxième, « tu observeras toujours Ses préceptes, Ses lois, Ses ordonnances et Ses commandements ».
  L'amour s'exerce conjointement à l'obéissance, cette dernière provenant naturellement de ce premier sentiment, 1Jean 5:3. Moïse rappelle aux enfants d'Israël, les grandes choses que l'Éternel a accomplies en leur faveur.
  Certains Israélites les virent d'ailleurs de leurs propres yeux, pendant leur traversée du désert, alors que les autres étaient déjà morts. Ce que nos yeux ont pu voir tout au long de notre vie, surtout quand nous étions jeunes, devrait nous faire réfléchir et nous inciter à cheminer vers la sanctification !
  
  8 Moïse dicte aux enfants d'Israël, la conduite qu'ils doivent tenir à l'avenir : ils doivent choisir entre la vie et la mort, la bénédiction et la malédiction, selon leur vœu d'obéissance aux commandements divins. Le péché tend à écourter la vie de chaque être humain et à dégrader la prospérité des peuples. Dieu était prêt à bénir abondamment la nation d'Israël, si toutefois cette dernière Lui portait tout son amour et consentait à Le servir.
  L'impie ne peut compter que sur les vaines promesses du temps présent, mais le Seigneur, quant à Lui, inonde le cœur des croyants de Sa plénitude, bien plus que ne pourraient le faire les richesses de ce monde. Ceux qui se révoltent contre Dieu, pour se tourner vers les idoles, courent certainement à leur ruine.
  Veillez donc particulièrement à ne pas gâcher votre vie. Tous ceux qui abandonnent Dieu, pour porter leur inclination vers les créatures, courent à leur anéantissement. Le côté le plus dramatique de cette situation, consiste principalement en cet abandon divin.
  
  18 Nous devrions nous soumettre aux trois règles énoncées ci-dessous : - Que notre cœur soit rempli de la Parole de Dieu. Nous pouvons en effet, avoir une vie paraissant tout à fait saine, sans avoir dans le cœur, de bonnes pensées, de bonnes affections et de bons principes. - Que nos yeux soient rivés sur les ordonnances divines : nous devons avoir constamment le regard porté sur elles, elles doivent être notre guide et notre règle de conduite, Psaume 119:30. - Que notre langue soit soumise aux préceptes de la Parole.
  Rien ne pourra alors mieux nous conduire vers la prospérité, tout en préservant une bonne piété au sein de la nation où nous vivons. Nos enfants recevront alors une excellente éducation.
  
  26 Moïse résume ici l'obéissance en deux mots : la bénédiction et la malédiction. Le patriarche plaçait le peuple devant ce choix, tout en faisant une déclaration publique et solennelle : il proclamait que les deux montagnes, de Garizim et d'Ébal, représentaient, de manière imagée cette bénédiction et cette malédiction. Pécheurs par nature, nous avons désobéi aux commandements de la loi originelle, et nous ne pouvons échapper à la malédiction que cela entraîne. Aujourd'hui, au temps de la grâce, l'évangile nous place encore face à ce choix : être bénis ou maudits.
  La bénédiction, si nous répondons à l'appel de la repentance, par la foi en Christ, ayant en Lui, le cœur et la vie renouvelés, mais aussi, la malédiction, si nous négligeons l'opportunité d'un si grand salut.
  Acceptons donc cette merveilleuse nouvelle de l'évangile, ce qui sera pour nous un sujet de grande joie ! N'endurcissons pas nos cœurs, mais écoutons plutôt la voix de Dieu, qui dans Sa Grâce, nous appelle encore aujourd'hui. Ayons la sagesse de répondre à cet appel, pour le salut de notre âme !
  
  Psaumes 95
  
  1
  Une exhortation à louer Dieu. (Psaumes 95:1-7)
  Un avertissement à ne pas Le tenter. (Psaumes 95:7-11)
  À chaque fois que nous entrons dans la présence de Dieu, nous devons venir avec des pensées d'actions de grâce. Le Seigneur doit être adoré ; tous les sujets de louanges doivent être placés devant Lui ; quel grand Dieu nous avons, à qui la terre entière appartient, en toute plénitude ! Ce dieu qui dirige tout, dispose de tout ! Le Seigneur Jésus, que l'on doit également adorer, est un grand Dieu ; le Dieu « Tout Puissant » n'est qu'un de Ses titres et Il est par-dessus tout, le Dieu des bénédictions éternelles. Toute puissance Lui est donnée, à la fois dans les cieux comme sur terre. Il est notre Dieu et nous devons l'adorer. Il est notre Sauveur et l'Auteur de nos bénédictions. L'église de l'évangile est son troupeau, Christ est le grand, le bon Berger des croyants ; Il les recherche quand ils sont perdus et les ramène à son bercail.
  
  7 Christ appelle son peuple pour qu'il entende sa voix. Vous l'appelez Maître ou Seigneur ; soyez donc obéissants à Sa volonté. Écoutez la voix de Sa doctrine, de Sa loi et aussi de Son Esprit : écoutez et tenez-en compte ; écoutez et mettez en pratique. La voix de Christ doit être écoutée dès qu'elle se présente. Cette opportunité ne durera pas toujours ; saisissez-la dès aujourd'hui. Lorsqu'on entend la voix de Christ, il faut aussi croire.
  La dureté du cœur est à la base du manque de confiance dans le Seigneur. Les péchés des autres devraient nous mettre en garde de ne pas suivre leurs pas. Les murmures d'Israël nous ont été rapportés à titre d'avertissement. Dieu n'est pas soumis aux passions qui nous entourent ; mais Il éprouve de la colère vis-à-vis du péché et des pécheurs. Ces derniers subiront le jugement qui leur est dû ; Ses menaces sont aussi certaines que Ses promesses. Veillons au mal qui peut régner dans notre cœur, qui nous fait errer loin de notre Seigneur.
  Il y a un repos prévu pour les croyants, le repos qui vivifie éternellement, qui a commencé durant la vie ici-bas, et qui trouvera sa plénitude dans la vie à venir. C'est ce que Dieu appelle « Son repos ».
  
  Psaumes 96

  Un appel à tous pour adorer Dieu. (Psaumes 96:1-9)
  Le gouvernement et le jugement de Dieu. (Psaumes 96:10-13)
  Quand Christ eut terminé son œuvre sur terre et qu'Il fut reçu en gloire dans les cieux, l'église commença à Lui chanter un cantique nouveau et à bénir Son nom. Ses apôtres et évangélistes annoncèrent Son salut venant des cieux, Ses merveilles accomplies parmi tous les peuples. Toute la terre est ici convoquée pour adorer le Seigneur. Nous devons L'adorer pour Sa beauté, Sa sainteté, en tant que Dieu en Christ, réconciliant le monde avec Lui-même. Des choses glorieuses sont annoncées à Son sujet, d'une part pour nous motiver à le louer, et d'autre part comme sujet de louange.
  
  10 Nous devons à la fois espérer et prier pour l'avènement de Christ dans son règne de droiture sur toutes les nations. Il aura toute autorité sur le cœur des hommes, par la puissance de la vérité et l'Esprit de droiture. Il vient bientôt ; ce Roi, ce Juge se tient à la porte mais ne l'a pas encore franchie. Le Seigneur acceptera l'adoration de tous ceux qui recherchent l'avènement du royaume de Christ. Nous voyons les flots de la mer lorsqu'ils rugissent, mais comment les arbres de la forêt peuvent-ils montrer leur joie dans ce que nous ne connaissons pas ? Mais celui qui sonde le cœur sait ce qui anime l'Esprit et comprend toutes les paroles qui sont proférées, même les plus subtiles. Christ va venir pour juger la terre, pour exécuter une juste vengeance envers ses ennemis, et pour accomplir les grandes promesses faites à Son peuple.
  Que sommes nous donc réellement ? Voudrions-nous que ce jour annoncé soit le bienvenu ? Si cela n'est pas notre cas, commençons maintenant à nous préparer à rencontrer notre Dieu, en recherchant d'une part, le pardon de nos péchés et d'autre part, le renouvellement de nos âmes en sainteté.
