- Josué 20
  
  1 Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,
  
  2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses,
  
  3 that the manslayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be to you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.
  
  4 He shall flee to one of those cities, and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city. They shall take him into the city with them, and give him a place, that he may live among them.
  
  5 If the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver up the manslayer into his hand; because he struck his neighbor unintentionally, and didn't hate him before.
  
  6 He shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days. Then the manslayer shall return, and come to his own city, and to his own house, to the city he fled from.'"
  
  7 They set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (the same is Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.
  
  8 Beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness in the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
  
  9 These were the appointed cities for all the children of Israel, and for the alien who lives among them, that whoever kills any person unintentionally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stands before the congregation.

  1 Then the heads of fathers' houses of the Levites came near to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel.
  
  2 They spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, "Yahweh commanded Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for our livestock."
  
  3 The children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the commandment of Yahweh, these cities with their suburbs.
  
  4 The lot came out for the families of the Kohathites. The children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, had thirteen cities by lot out of the tribe of Judah, out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin.
  
  5 The rest of the children of Kohath had ten cities by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh.
  
  6 The children of Gershon had thirteen cities by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, out of the tribe of Asher, out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.
  
  7 The children of Merari according to their families had twelve cities out of the tribe of Reuben, out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun.
  
  8 The children of Israel gave these cities with their suburbs by lot to the Levites, as Yahweh commanded by Moses.
  
  9 They gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are mentioned by name:
  
  10 and they were for the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi; for theirs was the first lot.
  
  11 They gave them Kiriath Arba, named after the father of Anak (the same is Hebron), in the hill country of Judah, with its suburbs around it.
  
  12 But they gave the fields of the city and its villages to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
  
  13 To the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Libnah with its suburbs,
  
  14 Jattir with its suburbs, Eshtemoa with its suburbs,
  
  15 Holon with its suburbs, Debir with its suburbs,
  
  16 Ain with its suburbs, Juttah with its suburbs, and Beth Shemesh with its suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.
  
  17 Out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its suburbs, Geba with its suburbs,
  
  18 Anathoth with its suburbs, and Almon with its suburbs; four cities.
  
  19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
  
  20 The families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, even the rest of the children of Kohath, had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
  
  21 They gave them Shechem with its suburbs in the hill country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer with its suburbs,
  
  22 Kibzaim with its suburbs, and Beth Horon with its suburbs; four cities.
  
  23 Out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its suburbs, Gibbethon with its suburbs,
  
  24 Aijalon with its suburbs, Gath Rimmon with its suburbs; four cities.
  
  25 Out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its suburbs, and Gath Rimmon with its suburbs; two cities.
  
  26 All the cities of the families of the rest of the children of Kohath were ten with their suburbs.
  
  27 They gave to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Be Eshterah with its suburbs; two cities.
  
  28 Out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its suburbs, Daberath with its suburbs,
  
  29 Jarmuth with its suburbs, En Gannim with its suburbs; four cities.
  
  30 Out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs,
  
  31 Helkath with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs; four cities.
  
  32 Out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Hammothdor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs; three cities.
  
  33 All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
  
  34 To the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its suburbs, Kartah with its suburbs,
  
  35 Dimnah with its suburbs, and Nahalal with its suburbs; four cities.
  
  36 Out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its suburbs, Jahaz with its suburbs,
  
  37 Kedemoth with its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs; four cities.
  
  38 Out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim with its suburbs,
  
  39 Heshbon with its suburbs, Jazer with its suburbs; four cities in all.
  
  40 All these were the cities of the children of Merari according to their families, even the rest of the families of the Levites. Their lot was twelve cities.
  
  41 All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty-eight cities with their suburbs.
  
  42 Each of these cities included their suburbs around them. It was this way with all these cities.
  
  43 So Yahweh gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers. They possessed it, and lived in it.
  
  44 Yahweh gave them rest all around, according to all that he swore to their fathers. Not a man of all their enemies stood before them. Yahweh delivered all their enemies into their hand.
  
  45 Nothing failed of any good thing which Yahweh had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.
  
  Jérémie 10
  
  1 Hear the word which Yahweh speaks to you, house of Israel!
  
  2 Thus says Yahweh, "Don't learn the way of the nations, and don't be dismayed at the signs of the sky; for the nations are dismayed at them.
  
  3 For the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the axe.
  
  4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it not move.
  
  5 They are like a palm tree, of turned work, and don't speak: they must be carried, because they can't go. Don't be afraid of them; for they can't do evil, neither is it in them to do good."
  
  6 There is none like you, Yahweh; you are great, and your name is great in might.
  
  7 Who should not fear you, King of the nations? For it appertains to you; because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is none like you.
  
  8 But they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of idols! it is but a stock.
  
  9 There is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the artificer and of the hands of the goldsmith; blue and purple for their clothing; they are all the work of skillful men.
  
  10 But Yahweh is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the nations are not able to withstand his indignation.
  
  11 You shall say this to them: The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.
  
  12 He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out the heavens:
  
  13 when he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightnings for the rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasuries.
  
  14 Every man has become brutish and without knowledge; every goldsmith is disappointed by his engraved image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
  
  15 They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
  
  16 The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: Yahweh of Armies is his name.
  
  17 Gather up your wares out of the land, you who live under siege.
  
  18 For thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and will distress them, that they may feel it.
  
  19 Woe is me because of my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is my grief, and I must bear it.
  
  20 My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth from me, and they are no more: there is none to spread my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
  
  21 For the shepherds are become brutish, and have not inquired of Yahweh: therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered.
  
  22 The voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.
  
  23 Yahweh, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.
  
  24 Yahweh, correct me, but in measure: not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.
  
  25 Pour out your wrath on the nations that don't know you, and on the families that don't call on your name: for they have devoured Jacob, yes, they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.
  
  Actes 1
  
  1 The first book I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,
  
  2 until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.
  
  3 To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God's Kingdom.
  
  4 Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, "Don't depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.
  
  5 For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
  
  6 Therefore when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?"
  
  7 He said to them, "It isn't for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.
  
  8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth."
  
  9 When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
  
  10 While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing,
  
  11 who also said, "You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky."
  
  12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away.
  
  13 When they had come in, they went up into the upper room, where they were staying; that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
  
  14 All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
  
  15 In these days, Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (and the number of names was about one hundred twenty), and said,
  
  16 "Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.
  
  17 For he was numbered with us, and received his portion in this ministry.
  
  18 Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.
  
  19 It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their language that field was called 'Akeldama,' that is, 'The field of blood.'
  
  20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, 'Let his habitation be made desolate. Let no one dwell therein;' and, 'Let another take his office.'
  
  21 "Of the men therefore who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
  
  22 beginning from the baptism of John, to the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of his resurrection."
  
  23 They put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
  
  24 They prayed, and said, "You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you have chosen
  
  25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place."
  
  26 They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

  La loi relative aux villes refuge. (Josué 20:1-6)
  Les villes sélectionnées pour servir de « refuge ». (Josué 20:7-9)
  Quand les Israélites furent installés dans le pays qui leur avait été promis, ils se souvinrent qu'ils devaient y établir des villes refuge, dont le rôle bien précis est détaillé en Nombres 35:1-34;De 19:1-21.
  « L'Israël spirituel », l'enfant de Dieu, a et trouvera en Jésus Christ, non seulement le repos, mais aussi le refuge qui permet d'être protégé de toute agression.
  Le rôle de ces villes rappelle la sécurité que peut offrir l'évangile aux pécheurs repentants, vis-à-vis des malédictions annoncées par la Loi, et de la colère divine : c'est en Jésus, notre Seigneur, que les croyants trouvent refuge, Heb 6:18.
  
  7 Ces villes refuge, comme celles situées de l'autre côté du Jourdain, permettaient à quiconque, d'être atteintes en une demi-journée, quel que soit l'endroit où l'on se trouvait. Dieu est le Refuge que l'on peut atteindre à tous moments. Ces villes étaient occupées par les Lévites. Elles accueillaient le fugitif, quand ce dernier ne pouvait pas se rendre dans la maison du souverain sacrificateur, pour y rencontrer les serviteurs de Dieu et trouver ainsi le soutien dans la prière, l'instruction, et l'aide nécessaires à sa situation. Certaines personnes estiment que les noms de ces villes ont une signification qui nous rappelle Christ, notre « Refuge ».
  Kédesch signifie « saint » : notre Refuge est Christ, Celui qui est Saint.
  Sichem veut dire « épaule » : le gouvernement repose sur Son épaule.
  Hébron, est synonyme d'amitié : tous les croyants sont appelés à bénéficier de l'amitié de Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur.
  Betser, « une fortification » : Christ est fort et puissant, Il soutient tous ceux qui se confient en Lui.
  Ramoth, « haut » ou « exalté » : Dieu, de Sa main droite, a magnifié Christ.
  Golan, « joie » ou « exultation » : en Christ, tous les saints sont justifiés et seront glorifiés !
  
  Josué 21
  
  1
  Les villes des Lévites. (Josué 21:1-8)
  Les villes prévues pour les Lévites. (Josué 21:9-42)
  Dieu, selon Sa promesse, donne le pays et le repos aux Israélites. (Josué 21:43-45)
  Les Lévites attendirent que les autres tribus soient installées, avant d'aller porter leur requête devant Josué.
  Le fait de demander des villes pour y demeurer, était tout à fait légitime ; ni leur conduite, ni leur service ne pouvaient justifier cette possession, c'était en fait, une directive divine. Le soutien des serviteurs de Dieu n'est pas laissé au bon vouloir du peuple, qui pourrait ainsi les laisser mourir de faim ; ceux qui prêchent l'évangile, doivent pouvoir vivre de leur ministère et ce, confortablement.
  
  9 En introduisant les Lévites dans les autres tribus, tous les Israélites pouvaient ainsi observer s'ils se conduisaient conformément aux règles de leur ministère spirituel. Chaque tribu d'Israël avait des villes pour accueillir les Lévites. L'Éternel pouvait ainsi maintenir un certain niveau de piété parmi le peuple : tous les hébreux pouvaient avoir accès à la Parole, n'importe où dans le pays.
  Béni soit Dieu pour la grande diffusion de l'évangile aujourd'hui !
  
  43 Dieu avait promis de donner à la descendance d'Abraham, le pays de Canaan : maintenant les enfants d'Israël possédaient cette terre promise et ils y demeuraient. La promesse de l'obtention de la « Canaan céleste » est tout aussi certaine, pour les enfants de Dieu, qui sont en quelque sorte, « l'Israël spirituel » ; toutes ces prophéties annoncées par Dieu, Celui qui ne peut mentir, se sont accomplies.
  Aucun homme n'a pu les contrecarrer. Si les Cananéens purent, à certains moments des combats avec Israël, prendre le dessus, ce fut à cause du manque de confiance de ce dernier, envers Dieu, et de ses penchants vers les idoles et les abominations païennes.
  Les Hébreux furent fautifs de ne pas obéir aux commandements de l'Éternel, tous excellents. Toutes ces promesses divines s'accomplirent en temps voulu ; à la fin de cette conquête, le peuple devait bien reconnaître que l'Éternel avait exaucé ses prières, au delà de toute espérance : les enfants d'Israël étaient maintenant plus que de simples conquérants, ils étaient vainqueurs et pouvaient enfin prendre du repos.
  
  Jérémie 10
  
  1
  L'absurdité de l'idolâtrie. (Jérémie 10:1-16)
  La destruction de Jérusalem est annoncée. (Jérémie 10:17-25)
  Le prophète montre la gloire du Dieu d'Israël, il expose également la folie des idolâtres. Les enchantements et autres tentatives, destinés à obtenir de l'aide surnaturelle pour connaître l'avenir, proviennent des mauvaises coutumes des païens.
  Tenons-nous dans une crainte respectueuse, n'essayons pas de provoquer Dieu, en glorifiant d'autres divinités, Lui seul doit recevoir nos louanges. Il est prêt à pardonner et sauver tous ceux qui se repentent et qui croient au Nom de son Fils Jésus-Christ.
  La foi tire toutes ces merveilleuses vérités, de la Parole de Dieu ; toute connaissance qui ne provient pas de cette Source, ne mène qu'aux fausses doctrines.
  
  17 Les juifs qui continuaient à séjourner dans le pays d'Israël, se sentaient en sécurité.
  Tôt ou tard, les pécheurs pourront constater que tout se déroule conformément aux déclarations de la Parole de Dieu, et que toutes ses menaces ne sont pas vaines. La soumission du croyant à cette Parole, le soutiendra dans toutes ses peines ; mais comment ceux qui tombent désespérément sous le coup de la vengeance divine, pourront-ils la supporter ? Comment ceux qui ne marchent pas avec Dieu dans toutes ses voies, par la foi et dans la prière, pourraient-ils compter prospérer ?
  L'annonce de l'approche de l'ennemi d'Israël était vraiment redoutable. Cependant, les concepts de pseudo sécurité, ancrés profondément dans le cœur de ses habitants, allaient être bientôt réduits à néant.
  Les événements se déroulent souvent selon des plans contraires à ce que nous avions prévu ou escompté. Si le Seigneur a dirigé nos pas dans les voies de la paix et de la droiture, sachons L'implorer, afin qu'Il nous rende capables d'y marcher. Il ne faut pas dire : « Seigneur, ne me corrige pas » ; mais plutôt : « Seigneur, ne me corrige pas, dans Ta colère ». Nous pouvons supporter la verge du châtiment de Dieu, mais nous ne pouvons pas soutenir le poids de sa colère.
  Ceux qui minimisent leur temps de prière, montrent qu'ils ne connaissent pas Dieu : en effet, ceux qui Le connaissent, Le recherchent, et tentent d'obtenir sans cesse Sa faveur.
  Si de sévères corrections divines amènent les pécheurs à la conviction d'existence de saines vérités, elles seront finalement l'objet, de leur part, d'une abondante gratitude envers le ciel : ils finiront alors par s'humilier devant le Seigneur.
  
  Actes 1
  
  1
  Le livre des Actes est un lien entre les Évangiles et les Épîtres. Il contient de nombreux détails concernant les apôtres Pierre et Paul, ainsi que l'église naissante, depuis l'ascension de notre Sauveur, jusqu'à l'arrivée de Paul à Rome ; cela couvre une période d'environ trente ans.
  C’est Luc qui écrit le livre des Actes ; il était présent lors de nombreux événements qu'il retrace, et il a assisté Paul à Rome. Cette narration ne relate pas toutefois l’histoire complète de l'église durant cette période, ni même la vie de l’apôtre Paul.
  On considère que le livre des Actes a pour objet : - De raconter de quelle manière les dons du Saint-Esprit ont été communiqués au jour de la Pentecôte, et les miracles qui ont été opérés par les apôtres, pour confirmer la vérité du Christianisme, en exposant que les déclarations de Christ ont été réellement accomplies. - D’attester que les Païens désiraient être admis dans l'église de Christ. Ceci est révélé en de nombreux passages du livre.
  Une grande partie des Actes est consacrée aux discours et aux sermons de diverses personnes, de langue et d’origine diverses, avec toutes les particularités que cela peut engendrer. Il semble que la plupart de ces sermons ne soit qu’un condensé de ce qui a été annoncé réellement. Ils affirment néanmoins complètement que Jésus est le Christ, le Messie, l’Oint.
  * Preuves de la résurrection de Christ. (Actes 1:1-5) L'ascension de Christ. (Actes 1:6-11) Les apôtres s'unissent dans la prière. (Actes 1:12-14) Matthias choisi pour remplacer Judas. (Actes 1:15-26)
  Actes 1:1-5 Notre Seigneur annonça aux disciples le ministère qu'ils allaient devoir entamer. Les apôtres se sont réunis à Jérusalem ; Christ leur avait ordonné de ne pas s’éloigner de là, mais d'attendre l'effusion du Saint-Esprit. Ce baptême du Saint-Esprit, allait leur donner le pouvoir d'accomplir des miracles, d'éclairer et de sanctifier leur âme.
  Ce que nous avons entendu au sujet de Christ, confirme la promesse divine, et nous encourage à en dépendre : en Lui toutes les promesses de Dieu sont « Oui » et « Amen » !
  
  6 Les apôtres cherchaient sincèrement à connaître les prophéties sur le royaume d’Israël : en fait, leur Maître ne les avait jamais incités à rechercher de telles informations. Notre Seigneur savait que Son ascension et l'enseignement du Saint-Esprit mettraient bientôt fin à ce genre d’attente, Il leur fit donc une simple réprimande ; quelle que soit l’époque, l’église doit prendre garde de ne pas désirer connaître ce qui lui est encore caché...
  Jésus a donné à Ses disciples des directives pour accomplir leur ministère : d’une part avant Sa mort, et d’autre part, après Sa résurrection ; cette connaissance est tout à fait suffisante dans l’exercice de la vie chrétienne. Christ s’est engagé à donner aux croyants une force qui soit à la hauteur des épreuves qu’ils rencontrent pour Son service ; sous l'influence du Saint-Esprit ils peuvent ainsi, d'une manière ou d'une autre, être des témoins du Seigneur ici-bas, alors que dans le ciel, ce Dernier gère leurs inquiétudes avec une parfaite Sagesse, dans Sa Vérité et avec amour.
  Alors que nous portons évasivement notre regard vers le ciel, nous devrions penser à la seconde venue de notre Maître, afin de raviver notre espérance et de veiller ; quand nous traversons des moments difficiles, ces pensées, du retour de Christ, doivent nous consoler et nous encourager !
  Puissions-nous attendre le Seigneur avec ferveur, dans la joie, pour qu’Il nous trouve irréprochables, lors de Son retour !
  
  12 Dieu trouve toujours des lieux de retraite pour Son peuple. Les disciples se rassemblèrent pour prier. Tous les véritables enfants de Dieu sont enclins à la prière. Les disciples de Jésus allaient traverser maintenant une période de trouble et de danger ; si quelqu'un est affligé, qu'il prie : cela fera taire tous soucis et toutes craintes ! Les disciples avaient maintenant un grand ministère à entreprendre, et avant de l’aborder, ils priaient Dieu avec ferveur, pour demander Sa présence. Ils attendaient la venue de l'Esprit dans la prière.
  Ceux qui ont les meilleures chances de recevoir des bénédictions spirituelles sont ceux qui passent du temps dans la prière. Christ avait promis d'envoyer rapidement le Saint-Esprit ; cette promesse n'avait pas pour but de minimiser la prière, mais au contraire de la vivifier et de l'encourager. Un petit groupe, uni dans l'amour, exemplaire dans sa conduite, fervent dans la prière, et sagement zélé à promouvoir la cause de Christ, est appelé à croître rapidement !
  
  15 Le plus grand évènement que les apôtres devaient attester au monde était la résurrection de Christ : c'était en effet la preuve flagrante qu'Il était le Messie, sur Lequel toute notre espérance allait pouvoir se baser.
  Les apôtres n’étaient pas appelés à revêtir l’apparat des dignitaires de ce monde, avec toute leur autorité, mais ils devaient prêcher Christ et le pouvoir de Sa résurrection. Ils adressèrent cette prière à Dieu : « Seigneur, Toi qui connais le cœur de tous » ; nous sommes bien incapables d’en dire autant, ayant déjà du mal à nous connaître nous-mêmes !
  Il est parfaitement normal que Dieu choisisse Ses propres serviteurs et qu'Il puisse, par les dispositions de Sa Providence, ou les dons de Son Esprit, nous exposer qui Il a choisi ; nous devons alors nous plier à sa volonté.
  Remettons entre Ses mains toutes nos activités, en particulier quand les autres se fient à nous quant à l’exercice de notre devoir.
