- 2 Samuel 19
  
  1 Et on rapporta à Joab : Voici, le roi pleure et mène deuil sur Absalom.
  
  2 Et la victoire fut changée en deuil pour tout le peuple, ce jour-là, car le peuple entendit ce jour-là qu'on disait : Le roi est affligé à cause de son fils.
  
  3 Et le peuple entra, ce jour-là, dans la ville à la dérobée, comme s'en irait à la dérobée un peuple honteux d'avoir pris la fuite dans la bataille.
  
  4 Et le roi avait couvert son visage, et le roi criait à haute voix : Mon fils Absalom ! Absalom, mon fils, mon fils !
  
  5 Et Joab vint vers le roi dans la maison, et dit : Tu as aujourd'hui rendu honteuse la face de tous tes serviteurs, qui ont aujourd'hui sauvé ta vie, et la vie de tes fils et de tes filles, et la vie de tes femmes, et la vie de tes concubines,
  
  6 en ce que tu aimes ceux qui te haïssent, et que tu hais ceux qui t'aiment ; car tu as montré aujourd'hui que tes chefs et tes serviteurs ne te sont rien ; et je sais aujourd'hui que, si Absalom vivait et que, nous tous, nous fussions morts aujourd'hui, alors cela serait bon à tes yeux.
  
  7 Et maintenant, lève-toi, sors, et parle au coeur de tes serviteurs ; car je jure par l'Éternel que si tu ne sors, pas un homme ne demeurera cette nuit avec toi ; et ceci sera pire pour toi que tout le mal qui t'est arrivé depuis ta jeunesse jusqu'à maintenant.
  
  8 Et le roi se leva, et s'assit dans la porte ; et on rapporta à tout le peuple, en disant : Voici, le roi est assis dans la porte. Et tout le peuple vint devant le roi. Et Israël s'était enfui, chacun à sa tente.
  
  9 Et tout le peuple était à se disputer dans toutes les tribus d'Israël, disant : Le roi nous a délivrés de la main de nos ennemis, et c'est lui qui nous a sauvé de la main des Philistins, et maintenant il s'est enfui du pays à cause d'Absalom ;
  
  10 et Absalom, que nous avions oint sur nous, est mort dans la bataille ; et maintenant, pourquoi gardez-vous le silence pour ce qui est de ramener le roi ?
  
  11 Et le roi David envoya à Tsadok et à Abiathar, les sacrificateurs, disant : Parlez aux anciens de Juda, en disant : Pourquoi êtes-vous les derniers pour ramener le roi dans sa maison, alors que la parole de tout Israël est venue au roi dans sa maison ?
  
  12 Vous êtes mes frères, vous êtes mon os et ma chair ; et pourquoi êtes-vous les derniers pour ramener le roi ?
  
  13 Et dites à Amasa : N'es-tu pas mon os et ma chair ? Que Dieu me fasse ainsi, et ainsi y ajoute, si tu n'es chef de l'armée devant moi, pour toujours, à la place de Joab !
  
  14 Et il inclina le coeur de tous les hommes de Juda comme un seul homme, et ils envoyèrent dire au roi : Reviens, toi et tous tes serviteurs.
  
  15 Et le roi s'en retourna, et vint jusqu'au Jourdain ; et Juda vint à Guilgal pour aller à la rencontre du roi, pour faire passer au roi le Jourdain.
  
  16 Shimhi, fils de Guéra, le Benjaminite, qui était de Bakhurim, se hâta et descendit avec les hommes de Juda à la rencontre du roi David,
  
  17 et, avec lui, mille hommes de Benjamin, et Tsiba, serviteur de la maison de Saül, et ses quinze fils et ses vingt serviteurs avec lui ; et ils traversèrent le Jourdain devant le roi.
  
  18 Et un bac passa pour faire passer la maison du roi, et faire ce qui était bon à ses yeux. Et Shimhi, fils de Guéra, tomba devant le roi comme il allait passer le Jourdain,
  
  19 et il dit au roi : Ne m'impute pas d'iniquité, mon seigneur, et ne te souviens pas de l'iniquité commise par ton serviteur au jour que le roi, mon seigneur, sortit de Jérusalem, en sorte que le roi le prenne à coeur.
  
  20 Car moi, ton serviteur, je sais que j'ai péché ; et voici, je suis venu aujourd'hui le premier de toute la maison de Joseph, pour descendre à la rencontre du roi, mon seigneur.
  
  21 Et Abishaï, fils de Tseruïa, répondit et dit : Ne fera-t-on pas mourir Shimhi pour cela, car il a maudit l'oint de l'Éternel ?
  
  22 Et David dit : Qu'ai-je à faire avec vous, fils de Tseruïa ? car vous êtes aujourd'hui des adversaires pour moi. Ferait-on mourir aujourd'hui un homme en Israël ? car ne sais-je pas que je suis aujourd'hui roi sur Israël ?
  
  23 Et le roi dit à Shimhi : Tu ne mourras point. Et le roi le lui jura.
  
  24 Et Mephibosheth, fils de Saül, descendit à la rencontre du roi ; et il n'avait pas soigné ses pieds, et n'avait pas fait sa barbe, et n'avait pas lavé ses vêtements, depuis le jour que le roi s'en était allé, jusqu'au jour où il revint en paix.
  
  25 Et lorsque Jérusalem vint à la rencontre du roi, le roi lui dit : Pourquoi n'es-tu pas allé avec moi, Mephibosheth ?
  
  26 Et il dit : O roi, mon seigneur ! mon serviteur m'a trompé ; car ton serviteur disait : Je sellerai mon âne, et je monterai dessus, et j'irai avec le roi, car ton serviteur est boiteux ;
  
  27 et il a calomnié ton serviteur auprès du roi, mon seigneur ; mais le roi, mon seigneur, est comme un ange de Dieu : fais donc ce qui est bon à tes yeux.
  
  28 Car toute la maison de mon père n'était que des hommes morts devant le roi, mon seigneur ; et tu as mis ton serviteur parmi ceux qui mangent à ta table ; et quel droit ai-je encore ? et pour quel sujet crierai-je encore au roi ?
  
  29 Et le roi lui dit : Pourquoi me parles-tu encore de tes affaires ? Je l'ai dit : Toi et Tsiba, partagez les champs.
  
  30 Et Mephibosheth dit au roi : Qu'il prenne même le tout, puisque le roi, mon seigneur, est revenu en paix dans sa maison.
  
  31 Et Barzillaï, le Galaadite, descendit de Roguelim, et passa le Jourdain avec le roi, pour l'accompagner au delà du Jourdain.
  
  32 Et Barzillaï était très-vieux, âgé de quatre-vingt ans, et il avait entretenu le roi pendant qu'il habitait à Mahanaïm, car il était un homme très-riche.
  
  33 Et le roi dit à Barzillaï : Passe avec moi, et je t'entretiendrai auprès de moi à Jérusalem.
  
  34 Et Barzillaï dit au roi : Combien seront les jours des années de ma vie, pour que je monte avec le roi à Jérusalem ?
  
  35 Je suis aujourd'hui âgé de quatre-vingt ans ; puis-je distinguer ce qui est bon de ce qui est mauvais ? Ton serviteur peut-il savourer ce que je mange et ce que je bois ? Puis-je encore entendre la voix des chanteurs et des chanteuses ? Et pourquoi ton serviteur serait-il encore à charge au roi, mon seigneur ?
  
  36 Ton serviteur passera pour peu de temps le Jourdain avec le roi ; et pourquoi le roi me donnerait-il cette récompense ?
  
  37 Que ton serviteur, je te prie, s'en retourne, afin que je meure dans ma ville, auprès du sépulcre de mon père et de ma mère ; et voici ton serviteur Kimham, il passera avec le roi, mon seigneur : fais-lui ce qui sera bon à tes yeux.
  
  38 Et le roi dit : Kimham passera avec moi, et je lui ferai ce qui sera bon à tes yeux ; et tout ce que tu voudras de moi, je te le ferai.
  
  39 Et tout le peuple passa le Jourdain, et le roi passa. Et le roi baisa Barzillaï, et le bénit ; et Barzillaï s'en retourna en son lieu.
  
  40 Et le roi passa à Guilgal, et Kimham passa avec lui ; et tout le peuple de Juda, et aussi la moitié du peuple d'Israël, firent passer le roi.
  
  41 Et voici, tous les hommes d'Israël vinrent vers le roi, et dirent au roi : Pourquoi nos frères, les hommes de Juda, t'ont-ils enlevé et ont-ils fait passer le Jourdain au roi, et à sa maison, et à tous les hommes de David avec lui ?
  
  42 Et tous les hommes de Juda répondirent aux hommes d'Israël : Parce que le roi m'est proche ; et pourquoi y a-t-il chez toi cette colère à cause de cela ? Avons-nous mangé quelque chose qui vînt du roi, ou nous a-t-il fait des présents ?
  
  43 Et les hommes d'Israël répondirent aux hommes de Juda, et dirent : J'ai dix parts au roi, et aussi en David j'ai plus que toi ; et pourquoi m'as-tu méprisé ? Et ma parole n'a-t-elle pas été la première pour ramener mon roi ? Et la parole des hommes de Juda fut plus dure que le parole des hommes d'Israël.
  
  Ezéchiel 26
  
  1 Et il arriva, la onzième année, le premier jour du mois, que la parole de l'Éternel vint à moi, disant :
  
  2 Fils d'homme, parce que Tyr a dit touchant Jérusalem : Ha ha ! elle est brisée, la porte des peuples ! elle est tournée vers moi ; je serai remplie ; elle a été rendue déserte ;...
  
  3 à cause de cela, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Voici, j'en veux à toi, Tyr ! et je ferai monter contre toi des nations nombreuses, comme la mer fait monter ses flots.
  
  4 Et elles détruiront les murs de Tyr et renverseront ses tours ; et je balayerai d'elle sa poussière, et je ferai d'elle un rocher nu.
  
  5 Elle sera un lieu pour étendre les filets, au milieu de la mer ; car j'ai parlé, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel ; et elle deviendra la proie des nations ;
  
  6 et ses filles qui sont dans la campagne seront tuées par l'épée ; et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.
  
  7 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Voici, je fais venir du nord, contre Tyr, Nebucadretsar, roi de Babylone, le roi des rois, avec des chevaux, et des chars, et des cavaliers, et un rassemblement et un peuple nombreux.
  
  8 Tes filles qui sont dans la campagne, il les tuera par l'épée ; et il établira contre toi des tours ; et il élèvera contre toi des terrasses ; et il lèvera le bouclier contre toi ;
  
  9 et il placera ses machines de siège contre tes murailles, et démolira tes tours avec ses pointes de fer.
  
  10 A cause de la multitude de ses chevaux, leur poussière te couvrira ; tes murailles trembleront au bruit de la cavalerie, et des roues et des chars, quand il entrera par tes portes comme on entre dans une ville ouverte par la brèche.
  
  11 Sous le sabot de ses chevaux il foulera toutes tes rues ; il tuera ton peuple par l'épée, et les colonnes de ta force tomberont par terre.
  
  12 Et ils feront une proie de tes richesses, et pilleront tes biens, et renverseront tes murs, et abattront tes maisons de plaisance ; et ils mettront tes pierres, et ton bois, et ta poussière, au milieu des eaux.
  
  13 Et je ferai cesser le bruit de tes chansons, et le son de tes harpes ne sera plus entendu.
  
  14 Et je ferai de toi un rocher nu ; tu seras un lieu pour étendre les filets ; et tu ne seras plus bâtie ; car moi, l'Éternel, j'ai parlé, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  15 Ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, à Tyr : Les îles ne trembleront-elles pas au bruit de ta chute, au gémissement de tes blessés à mort, quand le carnage se fera au milieu de toi ?
  
  16 Et tous les princes de la mer descendront de leurs trônes, et ôteront leurs robes, et dépouilleront leurs vêtements de broderie ; ils se revêtiront de frayeur, ils s'assiéront sur la terre, et ils trembleront à tout moment et seront dans la stupeur à cause de toi.
  
  17 Et ils élèveront une complainte sur toi, et te diront : Comment as-tu péri, toi qui étais habitée par ceux qui venaient des mers, ville célèbre qui était puissante sur la mer, toi et tes habitants qui répandiez votre terreur sur tous ceux qui habitent en elle ?
  
  18 Maintenant les îles tremblent au jour de ta chute, et les îles qui sont dans la mer seront troublées à cause de l'issue de ta voie.
  
  19 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Quand je ferai de toi une ville déserte, comme sont les villes qui ne sont pas habitées ; quand je ferai monter sur toi l'abîme, et que les grandes eaux te couvriront,
  
  20 alors je te ferai descendre avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse, vers le peuple d'autrefois, et je te ferai habiter dans les lieux bas de la terre, dans les lieux désolés de tout temps, avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse, afin que tu ne sois plus habitée, et que je mette la gloire dans la terre des vivants.
  
  21 Je ferai de toi une terreur, et tu ne seras plus ; et on te cherchera, et on ne te trouvera plus, à jamais, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  2 Corinthiens 12
  
  1 Il est vrai qu'il est sans profit pour moi de me glorifier, car j'en viendrai à des visions et à des révélations du Seigneur.
  
  2 Je connais un homme en Christ, qui, il y a quatorze ans (si ce fut dans le corps, je ne sais ; si ce fut hors du corps, je ne sais : Dieu le sait), je connais un tel homme qui a été ravi jusqu'au troisième ciel.
  
  3 Et je connais un tel homme, (si ce fut dans le corps, si ce fut hors du corps, je ne sais, Dieu le sait,)
  
  4 -qu'il a été ravi dans le paradis, et a entendu des paroles ineffables qu'il n'est pas permis à l'homme d'exprimer.
  
  5 Je me glorifierai d'un tel homme, mais je ne me glorifierai pas de moi-même, si ce n'est dans mes infirmités.
  
  6 Car quand je voudrais me glorifier, je ne serais pas insensé, car je dirais la vérité ; mais je m'en abstiens, de peur que quelqu'un ne m'estime au-dessus de ce qu'il me voit être ou de ce qu'il a pu entendre dire de moi.
  
  7 Et afin que je ne m'enorgueillisse pas à cause de l'extraordinaire des révélations, il m'a été donné une écharde pour la chair, un ange de Satan pour me souffleter, afin que je ne m'enorgueillisse pas.
  
  8 A ce sujet j'ai supplié trois fois le Seigneur, afin qu'elle se retirât de moi ;
  
  9 et il m'a dit : Ma grâce te suffit, car ma puissance s'accomplit dans l'infirmité. Je me glorifierai donc très-volontiers plutôt dans mes infirmités, afin que la puissance du Christ demeure sur moi.
  
  10 C'est pourquoi je prends plaisir dans les infirmités, dans les outrages, dans les nécessités, dans les persécutions, dans les détresses pour Christ : car quand je suis faible, alors je suis fort.
  
  11 Je suis devenu insensé : vous m'y avez contraint ; car moi, j'aurais dû être recommandé par vous ; car je n'ai été en rien moindre que les plus excellents apôtres, quoique je ne sois rien.
  
  12 Certainement les signes d'un apôtre ont été opérés au milieu de vous avec toute patience, par signes, et des prodiges, et des miracles.
  
  13 Car en quoi avez-vous été inférieurs aux autres assemblées, sinon en ce que moi-même je ne vous ai pas été à charge ? Pardonnez-moi ce tort.
  
  14 Voici, cette troisième fois, je suis prêt à aller auprès de vous ; et je ne vous serai pas à charge, car je ne cherche pas vos biens, mais vous-mêmes ; car ce ne sont pas les enfants qui doivent amasser pour leurs parents, mais les parents pour leurs enfants.
  
  15 Or moi, très-volontiers je dépenserai et je serai entièrement dépensé pour vos âmes, si même, vous aimant beaucoup plus, je devais être moins aimé.
  
  16 Mais soit ! moi, je ne vous ai pas été à charge, mais, étant rusé, je vous ai pris par finesse.
  
  17 Me suis-je enrichi à vos dépens par aucun de ceux que je vous ai envoyés ?
  
  18 J'ai prié Tite et j'ai envoyé le frère avec lui. Tite s'est-il enrichi à vos dépens ? N'avons-nous pas marché dans le même esprit ? N'avons-nous pas marché sur les mêmes traces ?
  
  19 Vous avez longtemps pensé que nous nous justifions auprès de vous. Nous parlons devant Dieu en Christ, et toutes choses, bien-aimés, pour votre édification.
  
  20 Car je crains que, quand j'arriverai, je ne vous trouve pas tels que je voudrais, et que moi je ne sois trouvé par vous tel que vous ne voudriez pas, et qu'il n'y ait des querelles, des jalousies, des colères, des intrigues, des médisances, des insinuations, des enflures d'orgueil,
  
  21 des désordres, et qu'étant de nouveau revenu au milieu de vous, mon Dieu ne m'humilie quant à vous, et que je ne sois affligé à l'occasion de plusieurs de ceux qui ont péché auparavant et qui ne se sont pas repentis de l'impureté et de la fornication et de l'impudicité qu'ils ont commises.

  1 It was told Joab, "Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom."
  
  2 The victory that day was turned into mourning to all the people; for the people heard it said that day, "The king grieves for his son."
  
  3 The people sneaked into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.
  
  4 The king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, "My son Absalom, Absalom, my son, my son!"
  
  5 Joab came into the house to the king, and said, "You have shamed this day the faces of all your servants, who this day have saved your life, and the lives of your sons and of your daughters, and the lives of your wives, and the lives of your concubines;
  
  6 in that you love those who hate you, and hate those who love you. For you have declared this day, that princes and servants are nothing to you. For today I perceive that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it would have pleased you well.
  
  7 Now therefore arise, go out, and speak to comfort your servants; for I swear by Yahweh, if you don't go out, not a man will stay with you this night. That would be worse to you than all the evil that has happened to you from your youth until now."
  
  8 Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. They told to all the people, saying, "Behold, the king is sitting in the gate." All the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.
  
  9 All the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he has fled out of the land from Absalom.
  
  10 Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why don't you speak a word of bringing the king back?"
  
  11 King David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, "Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, 'Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house? Since the speech of all Israel has come to the king, to return him to his house.
  
  12 You are my brothers, you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring back the king?'
  
  13 Say to Amasa, 'Aren't you my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if you aren't captain of the army before me continually in the room of Joab.'"
  
  14 He bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as one man; so that they sent to the king, saying, "Return, you and all your servants."
  
  15 So the king returned, and came to the Jordan. Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Jordan.
  
  16 Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, who was of Bahurim, hurried and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.
  
  17 There were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went through the Jordan in the presence of the king.
  
  18 A ferry boat went to bring over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, when he had come over the Jordan.
  
  19 He said to the king, "Don't let my lord impute iniquity to me, nor remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.
  
  20 For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore behold, I have come this day the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king."
  
  21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered, "Shall Shimei not be put to death for this, because he cursed Yahweh's anointed?"
  
  22 David said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be adversaries to me? Shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? For don't I know that I am this day king over Israel?"
  
  23 The king said to Shimei, "You shall not die." The king swore to him.
  
  24 Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither groomed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.
  
  25 It happened, when he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, "Why didn't you go with me, Mephibosheth?"
  
  26 He answered, "My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, I will saddle me a donkey, that I may ride thereon, and go with the king; because your servant is lame.
  
  27 He has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Do therefore what is good in your eyes.
  
  28 For all my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should cry any more to the king?"
  
  29 The king said to him, "Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land."
  
  30 Mephibosheth said to the king, "Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house."
  
  31 Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim; and he went over the Jordan with the king, to conduct him over the Jordan.
  
  32 Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even eighty years old: and he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.
  
  33 The king said to Barzillai, "Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem."
  
  34 Barzillai said to the king, "How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?
  
  35 I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king?
  
  36 Your servant would but just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?
  
  37 Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But behold, your servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you."
  
  38 The king answered, "Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you require of me, that I will do for you."
  
  39 All the people went over the Jordan, and the king went over. Then the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his own place.
  
  40 So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him. All the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.
  
  41 Behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, "Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king, and his household, over the Jordan, and all David's men with him?"
  
  42 All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, "Because the king is a close relative to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king's cost? Or has he given us any gift?"
  
  43 The men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, "We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more claim to David than you. Why then did you despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king?" The words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
  
  Ezéchiel 26
  
  1 It happened in the eleventh year, in the first [day] of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
  
  2 Son of man, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken: the gate of the peoples; she is turned to me; I shall be replenished, now that she is laid waste:
  
  3 therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh, Behold, I am against you, Tyre, and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes its waves to come up.
  
  4 They shall destroy the walls of Tyre, and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her a bare rock.
  
  5 She shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea; for I have spoken it, says the Lord Yahweh; and she shall become a spoil to the nations.
  
  6 Her daughters who are in the field shall be slain with the sword: and they shall know that I am Yahweh.
  
  7 For thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will bring on Tyre Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and a company, and many people.
  
  8 He shall kill your daughters in the field with the sword; and he shall make forts against you, and cast up a mound against you, and raise up the buckler against you.
  
  9 He shall set his battering engines against your walls, and with his axes he shall break down your towers.
  
  10 By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover you: your walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wagons, and of the chariots, when he shall enter into your gates, as men enter into a city in which is made a breach.
  
  11 With the hoofs of his horses shall he tread down all your streets; he shall kill your people with the sword; and the pillars of your strength shall go down to the ground.
  
  12 They shall make a spoil of your riches, and make a prey of your merchandise; and they shall break down your walls, and destroy your pleasant houses; and they shall lay your stones and your timber and your dust in the midst of the waters.
  
  13 I will cause the noise of your songs to cease; and the sound of your harps shall be no more heard.
  
  14 I will make you a bare rock; you shall be a place for the spreading of nets; you shall be built no more: for I Yahweh have spoken it, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  15 Thus says the Lord Yahweh to Tyre: shall not the islands shake at the sound of your fall, when the wounded groan, when the slaughter is made in the midst of you?
  
  16 Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay aside their robes, and strip off their embroidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit on the ground, and shall tremble every moment, and be astonished at you.
  
  17 They shall take up a lamentation over you, and tell you, How you are destroyed, who were inhabited by seafaring men, the renowned city, who was strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, who caused their terror to be on all who lived there!
  
  18 Now shall the islands tremble in the day of your fall; yes, the islands that are in the sea shall be dismayed at your departure.
  
  19 For thus says the Lord Yahweh: When I shall make you a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep on you, and the great waters shall cover you;
  
  20 then will I bring you down with those who descend into the pit, to the people of old time, and will make you to dwell in the lower parts of the earth, in the places that are desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit, that you be not inhabited; and I will set glory in the land of the living:
  
  21 I will make you a terror, and you shall no more have any being; though you are sought for, yet you will never be found again, says the Lord Yahweh.

  1 It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. For I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
  
  2 I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I don't know, or whether out of the body, I don't know; God knows), such a one caught up into the third heaven.
  
  3 I know such a man (whether in the body, or outside of the body, I don't know; God knows),
  
  4 how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
  
  5 On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in my weaknesses.
  
  6 For if I would desire to boast, I will not be foolish; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, so that no man may think more of me than that which he sees in me, or hears from me.
  
  7 By reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted excessively, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively.
  
  8 Concerning this thing, I begged the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
  
  9 He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
  
  10 Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.
  
  11 I have become foolish in boasting. You compelled me, for I ought to have been commended by you, for in nothing was I inferior to the very best apostles, though I am nothing.
  
  12 Truly the signs of an apostle were worked among you in all patience, in signs and wonders and mighty works.
  
  13 For what is there in which you were made inferior to the rest of the assemblies, unless it is that I myself was not a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong.
  
  14 Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I seek not your possessions, but you. For the children ought not to save up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
  
  15 I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more abundantly, am I loved the less?
  
  16 But be it so, I did not myself burden you. But, being crafty, I caught you with deception.
  
  17 Did I take advantage of you by anyone of them whom I have sent to you?
  
  18 I exhorted Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Did Titus take any advantage of you? Didn't we walk in the same spirit? Didn't we walk in the same steps?
  
  19 Again, do you think that we are excusing ourselves to you? In the sight of God we speak in Christ. But all things, beloved, are for your edifying.
  
  20 For I am afraid that by any means, when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and that I might be found by you as you don't desire; that by any means there would be strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud thoughts, riots;
  
  21 that again when I come my God would humble me before you, and I would mourn for many of those who have sinned before now, and not repented of the uncleanness and sexual immorality and lustfulness which they committed.

  3 וַתְּהִ֨י הַתְּשֻׁעָ֜ה בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֛וּא לְאֵ֖בֶל לְכָל־הָעָ֑ם כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֣ע הָעָ֗ם בַּיּ֤וֹם הַהוּא֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר נֶעֱצַ֥ב הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עַל־בְּנֽוֹ׃
  
  4 וַיִּתְגַּנֵּ֥ב הָעָ֛ם בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא לָב֣וֹא הָעִ֑יר כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר יִתְגַּנֵּ֗ב הָעָם֙ הַנִּכְלָמִ֔ים בְּנוּסָ֖ם בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
  
  5 וְהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לָאַ֣ט אֶת־פָּנָ֔יו וַיִּזְעַ֥ק הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ ק֣וֹל גָּד֑וֹל בְּנִי֙ אַבְשָׁל֔וֹם אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם בְּנִ֥י בְנִֽי׃

  9 וַיָּ֥קָם הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב בַּשָּׁ֑עַר וּֽלְכָל־הָעָ֞ם הִגִּ֣ידוּ לֵאמֹ֗ר הִנֵּ֤ה הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בַּשַּׁ֔עַר וַיָּבֹ֤א כָל־הָעָם֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל נָ֖ס אִ֥ישׁ לְאֹהָלָֽיו׃
  
  10 וַיְהִ֤י כָל־הָעָם֙ נָד֔וֹן בְּכָל־שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ הִצִּילָ֣נוּ ׀ מִכַּ֣ף אֹיְבֵ֗ינוּ וְה֤וּא מִלְּטָ֙נוּ֙ מִכַּ֣ף פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וְעַתָּ֛ה בָּרַ֥ח מִן־הָאָ֖רֶץ מֵעַ֥ל אַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃
  
  11 וְאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָשַׁ֣חְנוּ עָלֵ֔ינוּ מֵ֖ת בַּמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וְעַתָּ֗ה לָמָ֥ה אַתֶּ֛ם מַחֲרִשִׁ֖ים לְהָשִׁ֥יב אֶת־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  12 וְהַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד שָׁ֠לַח אֶל־צָד֨וֹק וְאֶל־אֶבְיָתָ֥ר הַכֹּהֲנִים֮ לֵאמֹר֒ דַּבְּר֞וּ אֶל־זִקְנֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לָ֤מָּה תִֽהְיוּ֙ אַֽחֲרֹנִ֔ים לְהָשִׁ֥יב אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־בֵּית֑וֹ וּדְבַר֙ כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בָּ֥א אֶל־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־בֵּיתֽוֹ׃

  14 וְלַֽעֲמָשָׂא֙ תֹּֽמְר֔וּ הֲל֛וֹא עַצְמִ֥י וּבְשָׂרִ֖י אָ֑תָּה כֹּ֣ה יַֽעֲשֶׂה־לִּ֤י אֱלֹהִים֙ וְכֹ֣ה יוֹסִ֔יף אִם־לֹ֠א שַׂר־צָבָ֞א תִּהְיֶ֧ה לְפָנַ֛י כָּל־הַיָּמִ֖ים תַּ֥חַת יוֹאָֽב׃
  
  15 וַיַּ֛ט אֶת־לְבַ֥ב כָּל־אִישׁ־יְהוּדָ֖ה כְּאִ֣ישׁ אֶחָ֑ד וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ שׁ֥וּב אַתָּ֖ה וְכָל־עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃
  
  16 וַיָּ֣שָׁב הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַיָּבֹ֖א עַד־הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן וִיהוּדָ֞ה בָּ֣א הַגִּלְגָּ֗לָה לָלֶ֙כֶת֙ לִקְרַ֣את הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לְהַעֲבִ֥יר אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
  
  17 וַיְמַהֵ֗ר שִׁמְעִ֤י בֶן־גֵּרָא֙ בֶּן־הַיְמִינִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֖ר מִבַּֽחוּרִ֑ים וַיֵּ֙רֶד֙ עִם־אִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה לִקְרַ֖את הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִֽד׃
  
  18 וְאֶ֨לֶף אִ֣ישׁ עִמּוֹ֮ מִבִּנְיָמִן֒ וְצִיבָ֗א נַ֚עַר בֵּ֣ית שָׁא֔וּל וַחֲמֵ֨שֶׁת עָשָׂ֥ר בָּנָ֛יו וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים עֲבָדָ֖יו אִתּ֑וֹ וְצָלְח֥וּ הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  19 וְעָבְרָ֣ה הָעֲבָרָ֗ה לַֽעֲבִיר֙ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְלַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הַטּ֖וֹב *בעינו **בְּעֵינָ֑יו וְשִׁמְעִ֣י בֶן־גֵּרָ֗א נָפַל֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ בְּעָבְר֖וֹ בַּיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
  
  20 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ אַל־יַחֲשָׁב־לִ֣י אֲדֹנִי֮ עָוֺן֒ וְאַל־תִּזְכֹּ֗ר אֵ֚ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶעֱוָ֣ה עַבְדְּךָ֔ בַּיּ֕וֹם אֲשֶׁר־יָׄצָ֥ׄאׄ אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ מִירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם לָשׂ֥וּם הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־לִבּֽוֹ׃

  23 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֗ד מַה־לִּ֤י וְלָכֶם֙ בְּנֵ֣י צְרוּיָ֔ה כִּי־תִֽהְיוּ־לִ֥י הַיּ֖וֹם לְשָׂטָ֑ן הַיּ֗וֹם י֤וּמַת אִישׁ֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֚י הֲל֣וֹא יָדַ֔עְתִּי כִּ֥י הַיּ֖וֹם אֲנִי־מֶ֥לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
  
  24 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ אֶל־שִׁמְעִ֖י לֹ֣א תָמ֑וּת וַיִּשָּׁ֥בַֽע ל֖וֹ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  25 וּמְפִבֹ֙שֶׁת֙ בֶּן־שָׁא֔וּל יָרַ֖ד לִקְרַ֣את הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְלֹא־עָשָׂ֨ה רַגְלָ֜יו וְלֹא־עָשָׂ֣ה שְׂפָמ֗וֹ וְאֶת־בְּגָדָיו֙ לֹ֣א כִבֵּ֔ס לְמִן־הַיּוֹם֙ לֶ֣כֶת הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ עַד־הַיּ֖וֹם אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֥א בְשָׁלֽוֹם׃
  
  26 וַיְהִ֛י כִּי־בָ֥א יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם לִקְרַ֣את הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לָ֛מָּה לֹא־הָלַ֥כְתָּ עִמִּ֖י מְפִיבֹֽשֶׁת׃
  
  27 וַיֹּאמַ֕ר אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עַבְדִּ֣י רִמָּ֑נִי כִּֽי־אָמַ֨ר עַבְדְּךָ֜ אֶחְבְּשָׁה־לִּי֩ הַחֲמ֨וֹר וְאֶרְכַּ֤ב עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ וְאֵלֵ֣ךְ אֶת־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כִּ֥י פִסֵּ֖חַ עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃
  
  28 וַיְרַגֵּ֣ל בְּעַבְדְּךָ֔ אֶל־אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַאדֹנִ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ כְּמַלְאַ֣ךְ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וַעֲשֵׂ֥ה הַטּ֖וֹב בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃
  
  29 כִּי֩ לֹ֨א הָיָ֜ה כָּל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֗י כִּ֤י אִם־אַנְשֵׁי־מָ֙וֶת֙ לַאדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַתָּ֙שֶׁת֙ אֶֽת־עַבְדְּךָ֔ בְּאֹכְלֵ֖י שֻׁלְחָנֶ֑ךָ וּמַה־יֶּשׁ־לִ֥י עוֹד֙ צְדָקָ֔ה וְלִזְעֹ֥ק ע֖וֹד אֶל־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  30 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לָ֛מָּה תְּדַבֵּ֥ר ע֖וֹד דְּבָרֶ֑יךָ אָמַ֕רְתִּי אַתָּ֣ה וְצִיבָ֔א תַּחְלְק֖וּ אֶת־הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
  
  31 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מְפִיבֹ֙שֶׁת֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ גַּ֥ם אֶת־הַכֹּ֖ל יִקָּ֑ח אַ֠חֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֞א אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּ֛לֶך בְּשָׁל֖וֹם אֶל־בֵּיתֽוֹ׃
  
  32 וּבַרְזִלַּי֙ הַגִּלְעָדִ֔י יָרַ֖ד מֵרֹגְלִ֑ים וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר אֶת־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן לְשַׁלְּח֖וֹ אֶת־*בירדן **הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
  
  33 וּבַרְזִלַּי֙ זָקֵ֣ן מְאֹ֔ד בֶּן־שְׁמֹנִ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וְהֽוּא־כִלְכַּ֤ל אֶת־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ בְּשִׁיבָת֣וֹ בְמַחֲנַ֔יִם כִּֽי־אִ֛ישׁ גָּד֥וֹל ה֖וּא מְאֹֽד׃
  
  34 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־בַּרְזִלָּ֑י אַתָּה֙ עֲבֹ֣ר אִתִּ֔י וְכִלְכַּלְתִּ֥י אֹתְךָ֛ עִמָּדִ֖י בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
  
  35 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר בַּרְזִלַּ֖י אֶל־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ כַּמָּ֗ה יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיַּ֔י כִּי־אֶעֱלֶ֥ה אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
  
  36 בֶּן־שְׁמֹנִ֣ים שָׁנָה֩ אָנֹכִ֨י הַיּ֜וֹם הַאֵדַ֣ע ׀ בֵּין־ט֣וֹב לְרָ֗ע אִם־יִטְעַ֤ם עַבְדְּךָ֙ אֶת־אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֹכַל֙ וְאֶת־אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶשְׁתֶּ֔ה אִם־אֶשְׁמַ֣ע ע֔וֹד בְּק֖וֹל שָׁרִ֣ים וְשָׁר֑וֹת וְלָמָּה֩ יִֽהְיֶ֨ה עַבְדְּךָ֥ עוֹד֙ לְמַשָּׂ֔א אֶל־אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  37 כִּמְעַ֞ט יַעֲבֹ֧ר עַבְדְּךָ֛ אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן אֶת־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְלָ֙מָּה֙ יִגְמְלֵ֣נִי הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ הַגְּמוּלָ֖ה הַזֹּֽאת׃
  
  38 יָֽשָׁב־נָ֤א עַבְדְּךָ֙ וְאָמֻ֣ת בְּעִירִ֔י עִ֛ם קֶ֥בֶר אָבִ֖י וְאִמִּ֑י וְהִנֵּ֣ה ׀ עַבְדְּךָ֣ כִמְהָ֗ם יַֽעֲבֹר֙ עִם־אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַעֲשֵׂה־ל֕וֹ אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־ט֖וֹב בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃
  
  39 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ אִתִּי֙ יַעֲבֹ֣ר כִּמְהָ֔ם וַאֲנִי֙ אֶעֱשֶׂה־לּ֔וֹ אֶת־הַטּ֖וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ וְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־תִּבְחַ֥ר עָלַ֖י אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־לָּֽךְ׃
  
  40 וַיַּעֲבֹ֧ר כָּל־הָעָ֛ם אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן וְהַמֶּ֣לֶךְ עָבָ֑ר וַיִּשַּׁ֨ק הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ לְבַרְזִלַּי֙ וַיְבָ֣רֲכֵ֔הוּ וַיָּ֖שָׁב לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃
  
  41 וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַגִּלְגָּ֔לָה וְכִמְהָ֖ן עָבַ֣ר עִמּ֑וֹ וְכָל־עַ֤ם יְהוּדָה֙ *ויעברו **הֶעֱבִ֣ירוּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְגַ֕ם חֲצִ֖י עַ֥ם יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
  
  42 וְהִנֵּ֛ה כָּל־אִ֥ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בָּאִ֣ים אֶל־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל־הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ מַדּוּעַ֩ גְּנָב֨וּךָ אַחֵ֜ינוּ אִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֗ה וַיַּעֲבִ֨רוּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ וְאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ֙ אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וְכָל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י דָוִ֖ד עִמּֽוֹ׃

  1 וַיְהִ֛י בְּעַשְׁתֵּֽי־עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָ֖ה בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ הָיָ֥ה דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃
  
  2 בֶּן־אָדָ֗ם יַ֠עַן אֲשֶׁר־אָ֨מְרָה צֹּ֤ר עַל־יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ הֶאָ֔ח נִשְׁבְּרָ֛ה דַּלְת֥וֹת הָעַמִּ֖ים נָסֵ֣בָּה אֵלָ֑י אִמָּלְאָ֖ה הָחֳרָֽבָה׃
  
  3 לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה הִנְנִ֥י עָלַ֖יִךְ צֹ֑ר וְהַעֲלֵיתִ֤י עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֔ים כְּהַעֲל֥וֹת הַיָּ֖ם לְגַלָּֽיו׃
  
  4 וְשִׁחֲת֞וּ חֹמ֣וֹת צֹ֗ר וְהָֽרְסוּ֙ מִגְדָּלֶ֔יהָ וְסִֽחֵיתִ֥י עֲפָרָ֖הּ מִמֶּ֑נָּה וְנָתַתִּ֥י אוֹתָ֖הּ לִצְחִ֥יחַ סָֽלַע׃
  
  5 מִשְׁטַ֨ח חֲרָמִ֤ים תִּֽהְיֶה֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַיָּ֔ם כִּ֚י אֲנִ֣י דִבַּ֔רְתִּי נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה וְהָיְתָ֥ה לְבַ֖ז לַגּוֹיִֽם׃
  
  6 וּבְנוֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה בַּחֶ֖רֶב תֵּהָרַ֑גְנָה וְיָדְע֖וּ כִּי־אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
  
  7 כִּ֣י כֹ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה הִנְנִ֧י מֵבִ֣יא אֶל־צֹ֗ר נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֧ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֛ל מִצָּפ֖וֹן מֶ֣לֶךְ מְלָכִ֑ים בְּס֛וּס וּבְרֶ֥כֶב וּבְפָרָשִׁ֖ים וְקָהָ֥ל וְעַם־רָֽב׃
  
  8 בְּנוֹתַ֥יִךְ בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה בַּחֶ֣רֶב יַהֲרֹ֑ג וְנָתַ֨ן עָלַ֜יִךְ דָּיֵ֗ק וְשָׁפַ֤ךְ עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ סֹֽלְלָ֔ה וְהֵקִ֥ים עָלַ֖יִךְ צִנָּֽה׃
  
  9 וּמְחִ֣י קָֽבָלּ֔וֹ יִתֵּ֖ן בְּחֹֽמוֹתָ֑יִךְ וּמִ֨גְדְּלֹתַ֔יִךְ יִתֹּ֖ץ בְּחַרְבוֹתָֽיו׃
  
  10 מִשִּׁפְעַ֥ת סוּסָ֖יו יְכַסֵּ֣ךְ אֲבָקָ֑ם מִקּוֹל֩ פָּרַ֨שׁ וְגַלְגַּ֜ל וָרֶ֗כֶב תִּרְעַ֙שְׁנָה֙ חֽוֹמוֹתַ֔יִךְ בְּבֹאוֹ֙ בִּשְׁעָרַ֔יִךְ כִּמְבוֹאֵ֖י עִ֥יר מְבֻקָּעָֽה׃
  
  11 בְּפַרְס֣וֹת סוּסָ֔יו יִרְמֹ֖ס אֶת־כָּל־חֽוּצוֹתָ֑יִךְ עַמֵּךְ֙ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יַהֲרֹ֔ג וּמַצְּב֥וֹת עֻזֵּ֖ךְ לָאָ֥רֶץ תֵּרֵֽד׃
  
  12 וְשָׁלְל֣וּ חֵילֵ֗ךְ וּבָֽזְזוּ֙ רְכֻלָּתֵ֔ךְ וְהָֽרְסוּ֙ חוֹמוֹתַ֔יִךְ וּבָתֵּ֥י חֶמְדָּתֵ֖ךְ יִתֹּ֑צוּ וַאֲבָנַ֤יִךְ וְעֵצַ֙יִךְ֙ וַֽעֲפָרֵ֔ךְ בְּת֥וֹךְ מַ֖יִם יָשִֽׂימוּ׃
  
  13 וְהִשְׁבַּתִּ֖י הֲמ֣וֹן שִׁירָ֑יִךְ וְק֣וֹל כִּנּוֹרַ֔יִךְ לֹ֥א יִשָּׁמַ֖ע עֽוֹד׃
  
  14 וּנְתַתִּ֞יךְ לִצְחִ֣יחַ סֶ֗לַע מִשְׁטַ֤ח חֲרָמִים֙ תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה לֹ֥א תִבָּנֶ֖ה ע֑וֹד כִּ֣י אֲנִ֤י יְהוָה֙ דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃
  
  15 כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֛ר אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִ֖ה לְצ֑וֹר הֲלֹ֣א ׀ מִקּ֣וֹל מַפַּלְתֵּ֗ךְ בֶּאֱנֹ֨ק חָלָ֜ל בֵּהָ֤רֵֽג הֶ֙רֶג֙ בְּתוֹכֵ֔ךְ יִרְעֲשׁ֖וּ הָאִיִּֽים׃
  
  16 וְֽיָרְד֞וּ מֵעַ֣ל כִּסְאוֹתָ֗ם כֹּ֚ל נְשִׂיאֵ֣י הַיָּ֔ם וְהֵסִ֙ירוּ֙ אֶת־מְעִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔ם וְאֶת־בִּגְדֵ֥י רִקְמָתָ֖ם יִפְשֹׁ֑טוּ חֲרָד֤וֹת ׀ יִלְבָּ֙שׁוּ֙ עַל־הָאָ֣רֶץ יֵשֵׁ֔בוּ וְחָֽרְדוּ֙ לִרְגָעִ֔ים וְשָׁמְמ֖וּ עָלָֽיִךְ׃
  
  17 וְנָשְׂא֨וּ עָלַ֤יִךְ קִינָה֙ וְאָ֣מְרוּ לָ֔ךְ אֵ֣יךְ אָבַ֔דְתְּ נוֹשֶׁ֖בֶת מִיַּמִּ֑ים הָעִ֣יר הַהֻלָּ֗לָה אֲשֶׁר֩ הָיְתָ֨ה חֲזָקָ֤ה בַיָּם֙ הִ֣יא וְיֹשְׁבֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁר־נָתְנ֥וּ חִתִּיתָ֖ם לְכָל־יוֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃
  
  18 עַתָּה֙ יֶחְרְד֣וּ הָֽאִיִּ֔ן י֖וֹם מַפַּלְתֵּ֑ךְ וְנִבְהֲל֛וּ הָאִיִּ֥ים אֲשֶׁר־בַּיָּ֖ם מִצֵּאתֵֽךְ׃

  20 וְהוֹרַדְתִּיךְ֩ אֶת־י֨וֹרְדֵי ב֜וֹר אֶל־עַ֣ם עוֹלָ֗ם וְ֠הוֹשַׁבְתִּיךְ בְּאֶ֨רֶץ תַּחְתִּיּ֜וֹת כָּחֳרָב֤וֹת מֵֽעוֹלָם֙ אֶת־י֣וֹרְדֵי ב֔וֹר לְמַ֖עַן לֹ֣א תֵשֵׁ֑בִי וְנָתַתִּ֥י צְבִ֖י בְּאֶ֥רֶץ חַיִּֽים׃

  1 Καυχᾶσθαι δεῖ· οὐ συμφέρον μέν, ἐλεύσομαι δὲ εἰς ὀπτασίας καὶ ἀποκαλύψεις κυρίου.
  
  2 οἶδα ἄνθρωπον ἐν Χριστῷ πρὸ ἐτῶν δεκατεσσάρων—εἴτε ἐν σώματι οὐκ οἶδα, εἴτε ἐκτὸς τοῦ σώματος οὐκ οἶδα, ὁ θεὸς οἶδεν—ἁρπαγέντα τὸν τοιοῦτον ἕως τρίτου οὐρανοῦ.
  
  3 καὶ οἶδα τὸν τοιοῦτον ἄνθρωπον—εἴτε ἐν σώματι εἴτε χωρὶς τοῦ σώματος οὐκ οἶδα, ὁ θεὸς οἶδεν—
  
  4 ὅτι ἡρπάγη εἰς τὸν παράδεισον καὶ ἤκουσεν ἄρρητα ῥήματα ἃ οὐκ ἐξὸν ἀνθρώπῳ λαλῆσαι.
  
  5 ὑπὲρ τοῦ τοιούτου καυχήσομαι, ὑπὲρ δὲ ἐμαυτοῦ οὐ καυχήσομαι εἰ μὴ ἐν ταῖς ἀσθενείαις.
  
  6 ἐὰν γὰρ θελήσω καυχήσασθαι, οὐκ ἔσομαι ἄφρων, ἀλήθειαν γὰρ ἐρῶ· φείδομαι δέ, μή τις εἰς ἐμὲ λογίσηται ὑπὲρ ὃ βλέπει με ἢ ἀκούει τι ἐξ ἐμοῦ,
  
  7 καὶ τῇ ὑπερβολῇ τῶν ἀποκαλύψεων. διὸ ἵνα μὴ ὑπεραίρωμαι, ἐδόθη μοι σκόλοψ τῇ σαρκί, ἄγγελος Σατανᾶ, ἵνα με κολαφίζῃ, ἵνα μὴ ὑπεραίρωμαι.
  
  8 ὑπὲρ τούτου τρὶς τὸν κύριον παρεκάλεσα ἵνα ἀποστῇ ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ·
  
  9 καὶ εἴρηκέν μοι· Ἀρκεῖ σοι ἡ χάρις μου· ἡ γὰρ δύναμις ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ τελεῖται. ἥδιστα οὖν μᾶλλον καυχήσομαι ἐν ταῖς ἀσθενείαις μου, ἵνα ἐπισκηνώσῃ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἡ δύναμις τοῦ Χριστοῦ.
  
  10 διὸ εὐδοκῶ ἐν ἀσθενείαις, ἐν ὕβρεσιν, ἐν ἀνάγκαις, ἐν διωγμοῖς καὶ στενοχωρίαις, ὑπὲρ Χριστοῦ· ὅταν γὰρ ἀσθενῶ, τότε δυνατός εἰμι.
  
  11 Γέγονα ἄφρων· ὑμεῖς με ἠναγκάσατε· ἐγὼ γὰρ ὤφειλον ὑφ’ ὑμῶν συνίστασθαι. οὐδὲν γὰρ ὑστέρησα τῶν ὑπερλίαν ἀποστόλων, εἰ καὶ οὐδέν εἰμι·
  
  12 τὰ μὲν σημεῖα τοῦ ἀποστόλου κατειργάσθη ἐν ὑμῖν ἐν πάσῃ ὑπομονῇ, σημείοις τε καὶ τέρασιν καὶ δυνάμεσιν.
  
  13 τί γάρ ἐστιν ὃ ἡσσώθητε ὑπὲρ τὰς λοιπὰς ἐκκλησίας, εἰ μὴ ὅτι αὐτὸς ἐγὼ οὐ κατενάρκησα ὑμῶν; χαρίσασθέ μοι τὴν ἀδικίαν ταύτην.
  
  14 Ἰδοὺ τρίτον τοῦτο ἑτοίμως ἔχω ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ὑμᾶς, καὶ οὐ καταναρκήσω· οὐ γὰρ ζητῶ τὰ ὑμῶν ἀλλὰ ὑμᾶς, οὐ γὰρ ὀφείλει τὰ τέκνα τοῖς γονεῦσιν θησαυρίζειν, ἀλλὰ οἱ γονεῖς τοῖς τέκνοις.
  
  15 ἐγὼ δὲ ἥδιστα δαπανήσω καὶ ἐκδαπανηθήσομαι ὑπὲρ τῶν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν. εἰ περισσοτέρως ὑμᾶς ἀγαπῶν, ἧσσον ἀγαπῶμαι;
  
  16 ἔστω δέ, ἐγὼ οὐ κατεβάρησα ὑμᾶς· ἀλλὰ ὑπάρχων πανοῦργος δόλῳ ὑμᾶς ἔλαβον.
  
  17 μή τινα ὧν ἀπέσταλκα πρὸς ὑμᾶς, δι’ αὐτοῦ ἐπλεονέκτησα ὑμᾶς;
  
  18 παρεκάλεσα Τίτον καὶ συναπέστειλα τὸν ἀδελφόν· μήτι ἐπλεονέκτησεν ὑμᾶς Τίτος; οὐ τῷ αὐτῷ πνεύματι περιεπατήσαμεν; οὐ τοῖς αὐτοῖς ἴχνεσιν;
  
  19 Πάλαι δοκεῖτε ὅτι ὑμῖν ἀπολογούμεθα; κατέναντι θεοῦ ἐν Χριστῷ λαλοῦμεν. τὰ δὲ πάντα, ἀγαπητοί, ὑπὲρ τῆς ὑμῶν οἰκοδομῆς,
  
  20 φοβοῦμαι γὰρ μή πως ἐλθὼν οὐχ οἵους θέλω εὕρω ὑμᾶς, κἀγὼ εὑρεθῶ ὑμῖν οἷον οὐ θέλετε, μή πως ἔρις, ζῆλος, θυμοί, ἐριθεῖαι, καταλαλιαί, ψιθυρισμοί, φυσιώσεις, ἀκαταστασίαι·
  
  21 μὴ πάλιν ἐλθόντος μου ταπεινώσῃ με ὁ θεός μου πρὸς ὑμᾶς, καὶ πενθήσω πολλοὺς τῶν προημαρτηκότων καὶ μὴ μετανοησάντων ἐπὶ τῇ ἀκαθαρσίᾳ καὶ πορνείᾳ καὶ ἀσελγείᾳ ᾗ ἔπραξαν.
