- 2 Samuel 24
  
  1 Et la colère de l'Éternel s'embrasa de nouveau contre Israël ; et il incita David contre eux, disant : Va, dénombre Israël et Juda.
  
  2 Et le roi dit à Joab, chef de l'armée, qui était avec lui : Parcours, je te prie, toutes les tribus d'Israël depuis Dan jusqu'à Beër-Shéba, et qu'on dénombre le peuple, afin que je sache le nombre du peuple.
  
  3 Et Joab dit au roi : Que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, ajoute au peuple cent fois autant qu'il y en a, et que les yeux du roi, mon seigneur, le voient ! Mais pourquoi le roi, mon seigneur, prend-il plaisir à cela ?
  
  4 Mais la parole du roi prévalut sur Joab, et sur les chefs de l'armée ; et Joab et les chefs de l'armée sortirent de devant le roi pour dénombrer le peuple, Israël.
  
  5 Et ils passèrent le Jourdain et campèrent à Aroër, à droite de la ville qui est au milieu du torrent de Gad, et vers Jahzer.
  
  6 Et ils vinrent en Galaad, et dans le bas pays de Hodshi, et vinrent à Dan-Jaan, et dans les environs de Sidon.
  
  7 Et ils vinrent à la ville forte de Tyr, et dans toutes les villes des Héviens et des Cananéens, et sortirent au midi de Juda, à Beër-Shéba.
  
  8 Et ils parcoururent tout le pays, et revinrent à Jérusalem au bout de neuf mois et vingt jours.
  
  9 Et Joab donna au roi le chiffre du recensement du peuple ; et il y avait d'Israël huit cent mille hommes de guerre tirant l'épée, et des hommes de Juda, cinq cent mille hommes.
  
  10 Et le coeur de David le reprit, après qu'il eut dénombré le peuple ; et David dit à l'Éternel : J'ai grandement péché dans ce que j'ai fait ; maintenant, ô Éternel, fais passer, je te prie, l'iniquité de ton serviteur, car j'ai agi très-follement.
  
  11 Et le matin, quand David se leva, la parole de l'Éternel vint à Gad, le prophète, le voyant de David, disant :
  
  12 Va, et parle à David : Ainsi dit l'Éternel : Je t'impose l'une de ces trois choses ; choisis-en une, et je te la ferai.
  
  13 Et Gad vint vers David, et lui rapporta cela, et lui dit : La famine viendra-t-elle sur toi sept ans dans ton pays ; ou veux-tu fuir trois mois devant tes ennemis, et qu'ils te poursuivent ; ou y aura-t-il trois jours de peste dans ton pays ? Sache maintenant, et vois quelle parole je rapporterai à celui qui m'a envoyé.
  
  14 Et David dit à Gad : Je suis dans une grande détresse. Que nous tombions, je te prie, dans les mains de l'Éternel, car ses compassions sont grandes ; et que je ne tombe point dans la main des hommes.
  
  15 Et l'Éternel envoya la peste en Israël depuis le matin jusqu'au temps assigné ; et il mourut du peuple, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beër-Shéba, soixante-dix mille hommes.
  
  16 Et l'ange étendit sa main sur Jérusalem pour la détruire ; et l'Éternel se repentit de ce mal, et dit à l'ange qui détruisait parmi le peuple : Assez ! Retire maintenant ta main. Or l'ange de l'Éternel était près de l'aire d'Arauna, le Jébusien.
  
  17 Et David, quand il vit l'ange qui frappait parmi le peuple, parla à l'Éternel, et dit : Voici, moi j'ai péché, et moi j'ai commis l'iniquité ; mais ces brebis, qu'ont-elles fait ? Que ta main, je te prie, soit sur moi et sur la maison de mon père.
  
  18 Et Gad vint vers David, ce jour-là, et lui dit : Monte, dresse un autel à l'Éternel dans l'aire d'Arauna, le Jébusien.
  
  19 Et David monta selon la parole de Gad, comme l'Éternel l'avait commandé.
  
  20 Et Arauna regarda, et il vit le roi et ses serviteurs qui passaient vers lui ; et Arauna sortit, et se prosterna devant le roi, le visage contre terre.
  
  21 Et Arauna dit : Pourquoi le roi, mon seigneur, vient-il vers son serviteur ? Et David dit : Pour acheter de toi l'aire, pour bâtir un autel à l'Éternel, afin que la plaie soit arrêtée de dessus le peuple.
  
  22 Et Arauna dit à David : Que le roi, mon seigneur, prenne et offre ce qui est bon à ses yeux. Vois, les boeufs seront pour l'holocauste, et les traîneaux à fouler et l'attirail des boeufs, pour le bois.
  
  23 Tout cela, ô roi ! Arauna le donne au roi. Et Arauna dit au roi : L'Éternel, ton Dieu, veuille t'avoir pour agréable !
  
  24 Et le roi dit à Arauna : Non, car certainement j'achèterai de toi pour un prix, et je n'offrirai pas à l'Éternel, mon Dieu, des holocaustes qui ne coûtent rien. Et David acheta l'aire et les boeufs pour cinquante sicles d'argent.
  
  25 Et David bâtit là un autel à l'Éternel, et offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices de prospérités. Et l'Éternel fut propice au pays ; et la plaie fut arrêtée de dessus Israël.
  
  Ezéchiel 31
  
  1 Et il arriva, la onzième année, au troisième mois, le premier jour du mois, que la parole de l'Éternel vint à moi, disant :
  
  2 Fils d'homme, dis au Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, et à sa multitude : A qui es-tu semblable dans ta grandeur ?
  
  3 Voici, Assur était un cèdre sur le Liban, beau par sa ramure, et touffu, donnant de l'ombre, et de haute taille, et sa cime était au milieu des rameaux feuillus.
  
  4 Les eaux l'ont fait grandir, l'abîme l'a élevé en hauteur ; ses rivières coulaient autour de ses plants, et il envoyait ses canaux à tous les arbres des champs.
  
  5 C'est pourquoi sa hauteur s'éleva par-dessus tous les arbres des champs, et ses branches se multiplièrent et ses rameaux s'allongèrent, parce qu'il poussait à cause des grandes eaux.
  
  6 Tous les oiseaux des cieux faisaient leurs nids dans ses rameaux, et toutes les bêtes des champs faisaient leurs petits sous ses branches, et toutes les nations nombreuses habitaient sous son ombre.
  
  7 Et il était beau dans sa grandeur et dans la longueur de ses branches, parce que sa racine était auprès de grandes eaux.
  
  8 Les cèdres dans le jardin de Dieu ne le cachaient pas, les cyprès n'égalaient point ses rameaux, et les érables n'étaient pas comme ses branches ; aucun arbre dans le jardin de Dieu ne lui était semblable en beauté.
  
  9 Je l'avais fait beau dans la multitude de ses branches, et tous les arbres d'Éden, qui étaient dans le jardin de Dieu, lui portaient envie.
  
  10 C'est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Parce que tu t'es élevé en hauteur..., et qu'il a dressé sa cime au milieu des rameaux feuillus et que son coeur s'est élevé dans sa hauteur,
  
  11 je l'ai livré en la main du puissant des nations ; il l'a traité à son gré. Je l'ai chassé à cause de son iniquité.
  
  12 Et des étrangers, les terribles d'entre les nations, l'on coupé et l'ont laissé là ; ses branches sont tombées sur les montagnes et dans toutes les vallées, et ses rameaux ont été brisés dans tous les ravins de la terre ; et tous les peuples de la terre se sont retirés de dessous son ombre et l'ont laissé là.
  
  13 Tous les oiseaux des cieux demeurent sur son tronc renversé, et toutes les bêtes des champs sont sur ses branches ;
  
  14 afin qu'aucun des arbres plantés près des eaux ne s'élève dans sa hauteur, et ne dresse sa cime au milieu des rameaux feuillus, et qu'aucun de ceux qui boivent des eaux ne se soutienne par lui-même dans sa hauteur ; car eux tous sont livrés à la mort, pour s'en aller dans les lieux bas de la terre, au milieu des fils des hommes, vers ceux qui descendent dans la fosse.
  
  15 Ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Au jour de sa descente au shéol, je fis mener deuil ; à cause de lui, je couvris l'abîme et j'en retins les fleuves, et les grandes eaux furent arrêtées ; et à cause de lui, je mis en deuil le Liban, et tous les arbres des champs défaillirent à cause de lui.
  
  16 Du bruit de sa chute je fis trembler les nations, quand je le fis descendre dans le shéol avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse ; et tous les arbres d'Éden, l'élite et le meilleur du Liban, tous ceux qui buvaient des eaux, furent consolés dans les lieux bas de la terre.
  
  17 Ceux-là aussi sont descendus avec lui dans le shéol, vers ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée, et qui, étant son bras, habitaient sous son ombre au milieu des nations.
  
  18 -A qui es-tu semblable ainsi, en gloire et en grandeur, parmi les arbres d'Éden ? Ainsi tu seras abaissé avec les arbres d'Éden jusque dans les lieux bas de la terre ; tu seras couché, au milieu des incirconcis, avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée. C'est là le Pharaon et toute sa multitude, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  Galates 4
  
  1 Or je dis qu'aussi longtemps que l'héritier est en bas âge, il ne diffère en rien d'un esclave, quoiqu'il soit seigneur de tous ;
  
  2 mais il est sous des tuteurs et des curateurs jusqu'à l'époque fixée par le père.
  
  3 Ainsi aussi nous, lorsque nous étions en bas âge, nous étions asservis sous les éléments du monde ;
  
  4 mais, quand l'accomplissement du temps est venu, Dieu a envoyé son Fils né de femme, né sous la loi,
  
  5 afin qu'il rachetât ceux qui étaient sous la loi, afin que vous reçussions l'adoption.
  
  6 Et, parce que vous êtes fils, Dieu a envoyé l'Esprit de son Fils dans nos coeurs, criant : Abba, Père :
  
  7 de sorte que tu n'es plus esclave, mais fils : et, si fils, héritier aussi par Dieu.
  
  8 Mais alors, ne connaissant pas Dieu, vous étiez asservis à ceux qui, par leur nature, ne sont pas dieux :
  
  9 mais maintenant, ayant connu Dieu, mais plutôt ayant été connus de Dieu, comment retournez-vous de nouveau aux faibles et misérables éléments auxquels vous voulez encore derechef être asservis ?
  
  10 Vous observez des jours, et des mois, et des temps, et des années.
  
  11 Je crains quant à vous, que peut-être je n'aie travaillé en vain pour vous.
  
  12 Soyez comme moi, car moi aussi je suis comme vous, frères ; je vous en prie. Vous ne m'avez fait aucun tort ;
  
  13 -et vous savez que dans l'infirmité de la chair je vous ai évangélisé au commencement ;
  
  14 et vous n'avez point méprisé, ni rejeté avec dégoût ma tentation qui était en ma chair ; mais vous m'avez reçu comme un ange de Dieu, comme le Christ Jésus.
  
  15 était donc votre bonheur ? Car je vous rends témoignage que, si cela eût été possible, arrachant vos propres yeux, vous me les eussiez donnés.
  
  16 Je suis donc devenu votre ennemi en vous disant la vérité ?
  
  17 Ils ne sont pas zélés à votre égard comme il faut, mais ils veulent vous exclure, afin que vous soyez zélés à leur égard.
  
  18 Mais il est bon d'être toujours zélé pour le bien, et de ne pas l'être seulement quand je suis présent avec vous.
  
  19 Mes enfants, pour l'enfantement desquels je travaille de nouveau jusqu'à ce que Christ ait été formé en vous,
  
  20 oui, je voudrais être maintenant auprès de vous et changer de langage, car je suis en perplexité à votre sujet.
  
  21 Dites-moi, vous qui voulez être sous la loi, n'écoutez-vous pas la loi ?
  
  22 Car il est écrit qu'Abraham a eu deux fils, l'un de la servante, et l'autre de la femme libre.
  
  23 Mais celui qui naquit de la servante naquit selon la chair, et celui qui naquit de la femme libre naquit par la promesse.
  
  24 Ces choses doivent être prises dans un sens allégorique : car ce sont deux alliances, l'une du mont Sinaï, enfantant pour la servitude, et c'est Agar.
  
  25 "Agar" est le mont Sina, en Arabie, et correspond à la Jérusalem de maintenant, car elle est dans la servitude avec ses enfants.
  
  26 Mais la Jérusalem d'en haut est la femme libre qui est notre mère.
  
  27 Car il est écrit : "Réjouis-toi, stérile qui n'enfantes point ; éclate de joie et pousse des cris, toi qui n'es point en travail d'enfant ; car les enfants de la délaissé sont plus nombreux que les enfants de celle qui a un mari".
  
  28 Or vous, frères, comme Isaac, vous êtes enfants de promesse.
  
  29 Mais, comme alors celui qui était né selon la chair persécutait celui qui était né selon l'Esprit, il en est de même aussi maintenant.
  
  30 Mais que dit l'écriture ? "Chasse la servante et son fils, car le fils de la servante n'héritera point avec le fils de la femme libre".
  
  31 Ainsi, frères, nous ne sommes pas enfants de la servante, mais de la femme libre.
- 2 Samuel 24
  
  1 Again the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, "Go, number Israel and Judah."
  
  2 The king said to Joab the captain of the army, who was with him, "Now go back and forth through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number the people, that I may know the sum of the people."
  
  3 Joab said to the king, "Now may Yahweh your God add to the people, however many they may be, one hundred times; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king delight in this thing?"
  
  4 Notwithstanding, the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the army. Joab and the captains of the army went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
  
  5 They passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and to Jazer:
  
  6 then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim Hodshi; and they came to Dan Jaan, and around to Sidon,
  
  7 and came to the stronghold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites; and they went out to the south of Judah, at Beersheba.
  
  8 So when they had gone back and forth through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
  
  9 Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people to the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men who drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
  
  10 David's heart struck him after that he had numbered the people. David said to Yahweh, "I have sinned greatly in that which I have done. But now, Yahweh, put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly."
  
  11 When David rose up in the morning, the word of Yahweh came to the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,
  
  12 "Go and speak to David, 'Thus says Yahweh, "I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you."'"
  
  13 So Gad came to David, and told him, and said to him, "Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days' pestilence in your land? Now answer, and consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me."
  
  14 David said to Gad, "I am in distress. Let us fall now into the hand of Yahweh; for his mercies are great. Let me not fall into the hand of man."
  
  15 So Yahweh sent a pestilence on Israel from the morning even to the appointed time; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.
  
  16 When the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Yahweh relented of the disaster, and said to the angel who destroyed the people, "It is enough. Now stay your hand." The angel of Yahweh was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
  
  17 David spoke to Yahweh when he saw the angel who struck the people, and said, "Behold, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be against me, and against my father's house."
  
  18 Gad came that day to David, and said to him, "Go up, build an altar to Yahweh on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite."
  
  19 David went up according to the saying of Gad, as Yahweh commanded.
  
  20 Araunah looked out, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him. Then Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
  
  21 Araunah said, "Why has my lord the king come to his servant?" David said, "To buy your threshing floor, to build an altar to Yahweh, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people."
  
  22 Araunah said to David, "Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him. Behold, the cattle for the burnt offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood:
  
  23 all this, king, does Araunah give to the king." Araunah said to the king, "May Yahweh your God accept you."
  
  24 The king said to Araunah, "No; but I will most certainly buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to Yahweh my God which cost me nothing." So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
  
  25 David built an altar to Yahweh there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So Yahweh was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
  
  Ezéchiel 31
  
  1 It happened in the eleventh year, in the third [month], in the first [day] of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
  
  2 Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: Whom are you like in your greatness?
  
  3 Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, and with a forest-like shade, and of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs.
  
  4 The waters nourished it, the deep made it to grow: its rivers ran all around its plantation; and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.
  
  5 Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it shot [them] forth.
  
  6 All the birds of the sky made their nests in its boughs; and under its branches all the animals of the field brought forth their young; and all great nations lived under its shadow.
  
  7 Thus was it beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.
  
  8 The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the fir trees were not like its boughs, and the plane trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.
  
  9 I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.
  
  10 Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh: Because you are exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
  
  11 I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him; I have driven him out for his wickedness.
  
  12 Strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: on the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land; and all the peoples of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
  
  13 On his ruin all the birds of the sky shall dwell, and all the animals of the field shall be on his branches;
  
  14 to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones stand up on their height, [even] all who drink water: for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.
  
  15 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: In the day when he went down to Sheol I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its rivers; and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
  
  16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth.
  
  17 They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were his arm, [that] lived under his shadow in the midst of the nations.
  
  18 To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth: you shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  Galates 4
  
  1 But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all;
  
  2 but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.
  
  3 So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.
  
  4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,
  
  5 that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children.
  
  6 And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, "Abba, Father!"
  
  7 So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
  
  8 However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods.
  
  9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?
  
  10 You observe days, months, seasons, and years.
  
  11 I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.
  
  12 I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,
  
  13 but you know that because of weakness of the flesh I preached the Good News to you the first time.
  
  14 That which was a temptation to you in my flesh, you didn't despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
  
  15 What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
  
  16 So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
  
  17 They zealously seek you in no good way. No, they desire to alienate you, that you may seek them.
  
  18 But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.
  
  19 My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ is formed in you--
  
  20 but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
  
  21 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don't you listen to the law?
  
  22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaid, and one by the free woman.
  
  23 However, the son by the handmaid was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.
  
  24 These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar.
  
  25 For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children.
  
  26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
  
  27 For it is written, "Rejoice, you barren who don't bear. Break forth and shout, you that don't travail. For more are the children of the desolate than of her who has a husband."
  
  28 Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
  
  29 But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
  
  30 However what does the Scripture say? "Throw out the handmaid and her son, for the son of the handmaid will not inherit with the son of the free woman."
  
  31 So then, brothers, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the free woman.
- 2 Samuel 24
  
  1 וַיֹּ֙סֶף֙ אַף־יְהוָ֔ה לַחֲר֖וֹת בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיָּ֨סֶת אֶת־דָּוִ֤ד בָּהֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֵ֛ךְ מְנֵ֥ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְאֶת־יְהוּדָֽה׃
  
  2 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶל־יוֹאָ֣ב ׀ שַׂר־הַחַ֣יִל אֲשֶׁר־אִתּ֗וֹ שֽׁוּט־נָ֞א בְּכָל־שִׁבְטֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מִדָּן֙ וְעַד־בְּאֵ֣ר שֶׁ֔בַע וּפִקְד֖וּ אֶת־הָעָ֑ם וְיָ֣דַעְתִּ֔י אֵ֖ת מִסְפַּ֥ר הָעָֽם׃
  
  3 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יוֹאָ֜ב אֶל־הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ וְיוֹסֵ֣ף יְהוָה֩ אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ אֶל־הָעָ֜ם כָּהֵ֤ם ׀ וְכָהֵם֙ מֵאָ֣ה פְעָמִ֔ים וְעֵינֵ֥י אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ רֹא֑וֹת וַאדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לָ֥מָּה חָפֵ֖ץ בַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃
  
  4 וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק דְּבַר־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ אֶל־יוֹאָ֔ב וְעַ֖ל שָׂרֵ֣י הֶחָ֑יִל וַיֵּצֵ֨א יוֹאָ֜ב וְשָׂרֵ֤י הַחַ֙יִל֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לִפְקֹ֥ד אֶת־הָעָ֖ם אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
  
  5 וַיַּעַבְר֖וּ אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ בַעֲרוֹעֵ֗ר יְמִ֥ין הָעִ֛יר אֲשֶׁ֛ר בְּתוֹךְ־הַנַּ֥חַל הַגָּ֖ד וְאֶל־יַעְזֵֽר׃
  
  6 וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ הַגִּלְעָ֔דָה וְאֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ תַּחְתִּ֖ים חָדְשִׁ֑י וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ דָּ֣נָה יַּ֔עַן וְסָבִ֖יב אֶל־צִידֽוֹן׃
  
  7 וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ מִבְצַר־צֹ֔ר וְכָל־עָרֵ֥י הַחִוִּ֖י וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑י וַיֵּֽצְא֛וּ אֶל־נֶ֥גֶב יְהוּדָ֖ה בְּאֵ֥ר שָֽׁבַע׃
  
  8 וַיָּשֻׁ֖טוּ בְּכָל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ מִקְצֵ֨ה תִשְׁעָ֧ה חֳדָשִׁ֛ים וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים י֖וֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
  
  9 וַיִּתֵּ֥ן יוֹאָ֛ב אֶת־מִסְפַּ֥ר מִפְקַד־הָעָ֖ם אֶל־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַתְּהִ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל שְׁמֹנֶה֩ מֵא֨וֹת אֶ֤לֶף אִֽישׁ־חַ֙יִל֙ שֹׁ֣לֵֽף חֶ֔רֶב וְאִ֣ישׁ יְהוּדָ֔ה חֲמֵשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֖לֶף אִֽישׁ׃
  
  10 וַיַּ֤ךְ לֵב־דָּוִד֙ אֹת֔וֹ אַחֲרֵי־כֵ֖ן סָפַ֣ר אֶת־הָעָ֑ם סוַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד אֶל־יְהוָ֗ה חָטָ֤אתִי מְאֹד֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֔יתִי וְעַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה הַֽעֲבֶר־נָא֙ אֶת־עֲוֺ֣ן עַבְדְּךָ֔ כִּ֥י נִסְכַּ֖לְתִּי מְאֹֽד׃
  
  11 וַיָּ֥קָם דָּוִ֖ד בַּבֹּ֑קֶר פוּדְבַר־יְהוָ֗ה הָיָה֙ אֶל־גָּ֣ד הַנָּבִ֔יא חֹזֵ֥ה דָוִ֖ד לֵאמֹֽר׃
  
  12 הָל֞וֹךְ וְדִבַּרְתָּ֣ אֶל־דָּוִ֗ד כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שָׁלֹ֕שׁ אָנֹכִ֖י נוֹטֵ֣ל עָלֶ֑יךָ בְּחַר־לְךָ֥ אַֽחַת־מֵהֶ֖ם וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה־לָּֽךְ׃
  
  13 וַיָּבֹא־גָ֥ד אֶל־דָּוִ֖ד וַיַּגֶּד־ל֑וֹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֡וֹ הֲתָב֣וֹא לְךָ֣ שֶֽׁבַע שָׁנִ֣ים ׀ רָעָ֣ב ׀ בְּאַרְצֶ֡ךָ אִם־שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה חֳ֠דָשִׁים נֻסְךָ֨ לִפְנֵֽי־צָרֶ֜יךָ וְה֣וּא רֹדְפֶ֗ךָ וְאִם־הֱ֠יוֹת שְׁלֹ֨שֶׁת יָמִ֥ים דֶּ֙בֶר֙ בְּאַרְצֶ֔ךָ עַתָּה֙ דַּ֣ע וּרְאֵ֔ה מָה־אָשִׁ֥יב שֹׁלְחִ֖י דָּבָֽר׃
  
  14 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר דָּוִ֛ד אֶל־גָּ֖ד צַר־לִ֣י מְאֹ֑ד נִפְּלָה־נָּ֤א בְיַד־יְהוָה֙ כִּֽי־רַבִּ֣ים *רחמו **רַֽחֲמָ֔יו וּבְיַד־אָדָ֖ם אַל־אֶפֹּֽלָה׃
  
  15 וַיִּתֵּ֨ן יְהוָ֥ה דֶּ֙בֶר֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מֵהַבֹּ֖קֶר וְעַד־עֵ֣ת מוֹעֵ֑ד וַיָּ֣מָת מִן־הָעָ֗ם מִדָּן֙ וְעַד־בְּאֵ֣ר שֶׁ֔בַע שִׁבְעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף אִֽישׁ׃
  
  16 וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ יָד֨וֹ הַמַּלְאָ֥ךְ ׀ יְרֽוּשָׁלִַם֮ לְשַׁחֲתָהּ֒ וַיִּנָּ֤חֶם יְהוָה֙ אֶל־הָ֣רָעָ֔ה וַ֠יֹּאמֶר לַמַּלְאָ֞ךְ הַמַּשְׁחִ֤ית בָּעָם֙ רַ֔ב עַתָּ֖ה הֶ֣רֶף יָדֶ֑ךָ וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ הָיָ֔ה עִם־גֹּ֖רֶן *האורנה **הָאֲרַ֥וְנָה הַיְבֻסִֽי׃
  
  17 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ דָּוִ֨ד אֶל־יְהוָ֜ה בִּרְאֹת֣וֹ ׀ אֶֽת־הַמַּלְאָ֣ךְ ׀ הַמַּכֶּ֣ה בָעָ֗ם וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הִנֵּ֨ה אָנֹכִ֤י חָטָ֙אתִי֙ וְאָנֹכִ֣י הֶעֱוֵ֔יתִי וְאֵ֥לֶּה הַצֹּ֖אן מֶ֣ה עָשׂ֑וּ תְּהִ֨י נָ֥א יָדְךָ֛ בִּ֖י וּבְבֵ֥ית אָבִֽי׃
  
  18 וַיָּבֹא־גָ֥ד אֶל־דָּוִ֖ד בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ עֲלֵה֙ הָקֵ֤ם לַֽיהוָה֙ מִזְבֵּ֔חַ בְּגֹ֖רֶן *ארניה **אֲרַ֥וְנָה הַיְבֻסִֽי׃
  
  19 וַיַּ֤עַל דָּוִד֙ כִּדְבַר־גָּ֔ד כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָֽה׃
  
  20 וַיַּשְׁקֵ֣ף אֲרַ֗וְנָה וַיַּ֤רְא אֶת־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וְאֶת־עֲבָדָ֔יו עֹבְרִ֖ים עָלָ֑יו וַיֵּצֵ֣א אֲרַ֔וְנָה וַיִּשְׁתַּ֧חוּ לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ אַפָּ֖יו אָֽרְצָה׃
  
  21 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲרַ֔וְנָה מַדּ֛וּעַ בָּ֥א אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־עַבְדּ֑וֹ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד לִקְנ֧וֹת מֵעִמְּךָ֣ אֶת־הַגֹּ֗רֶן לִבְנ֤וֹת מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה וְתֵעָצַ֥ר הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה מֵעַ֥ל הָעָֽם׃
  
  22 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲרַ֙וְנָה֙ אֶל־דָּוִ֔ד יִקַּ֥ח וְיַ֛עַל אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ הַטּ֣וֹב *בעינו **בְּעֵינָ֑יו רְאֵה֙ הַבָּקָ֣ר לָעֹלָ֔ה וְהַמֹּרִגִּ֛ים וּכְלֵ֥י הַבָּקָ֖ר לָעֵצִֽים׃
  
  23 הַכֹּ֗ל נָתַ֛ן אֲרַ֥וְנָה הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ סוַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲרַ֙וְנָה֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ יִרְצֶֽךָ׃

  3 הִנֵּ֨ה אַשּׁ֜וּר אֶ֣רֶז בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן יְפֵ֥ה עָנָ֛ף וְחֹ֥רֶשׁ מֵצַ֖ל וּגְבַ֣הּ קוֹמָ֑ה וּבֵ֣ין עֲבֹתִ֔ים הָיְתָ֖ה צַמַּרְתּֽוֹ׃
  
  4 מַ֣יִם גִּדְּל֔וּהוּ תְּה֖וֹם רֹֽמְמָ֑תְהוּ אֶת־נַהֲרֹתֶ֗יהָ הֹלֵךְ֙ סְבִיב֣וֹת מַטָּעָ֔הּ וְאֶת־תְּעָלֹתֶ֣יהָ שִׁלְחָ֔ה אֶ֖ל כָּל־עֲצֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
  
  5 עַל־כֵּן֙ גָּבְהָ֣א קֹמָת֔וֹ מִכֹּ֖ל עֲצֵ֣י הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וַתִּרְבֶּ֨ינָה סַֽרְעַפֹּתָ֜יו וַתֶּאֱרַ֧כְנָה *פארתו **פֹארֹתָ֛יו מִמַּ֥יִם רַבִּ֖ים בְּשַׁלְּחֽוֹ׃
  
  6 בִּסְעַפֹּתָ֤יו קִֽנְנוּ֙ כָּל־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְתַ֤חַת פֹּֽארֹתָיו֙ יָֽלְד֔וּ כֹּ֖ל חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וּבְצִלּוֹ֙ יֵֽשְׁב֔וּ כֹּ֖ל גּוֹיִ֥ם רַבִּֽים׃
  
  7 וַיְּיִ֣ף בְּגָדְל֔וֹ בְּאֹ֖רֶךְ דָּֽלִיּוֹתָ֑יו כִּֽי־הָיָ֥ה שָׁרְשׁ֖וֹ אֶל־מַ֥יִם רַבִּֽים׃
  
  8 אֲרָזִ֣ים לֹֽא־עֲמָמֻהוּ֮ בְּגַן־אֱלֹהִים֒ בְּרוֹשִׁ֗ים לֹ֤א דָמוּ֙ אֶל־סְעַפֹּתָ֔יו וְעַרְמֹנִ֥ים לֹֽא־הָי֖וּ כְּפֹֽארֹתָ֑יו כָּל־עֵץ֙ בְּגַן־אֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹא־דָמָ֥ה אֵלָ֖יו בְּיָפְיֽוֹ׃
  
  9 יָפֶ֣ה עֲשִׂיתִ֔יו בְּרֹ֖ב דָּֽלִיּוֹתָ֑יו וַיְקַנְאֻ֙הוּ֙ כָּל־עֲצֵי־עֵ֔דֶן אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּגַ֥ן הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
  
  10 לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה יַ֕עַן אֲשֶׁ֥ר גָּבַ֖הְתָּ בְּקוֹמָ֑ה וַיִּתֵּ֤ן צַמַּרְתּוֹ֙ אֶל־בֵּ֣ין עֲבוֹתִ֔ים וְרָ֥ם לְבָב֖וֹ בְּגָבְהֽוֹ׃
  
  11 וְאֶ֨תְּנֵ֔הוּ בְּיַ֖ד אֵ֣יל גּוֹיִ֑ם עָשׂ֤וֹ יַֽעֲשֶׂה֙ ל֔וֹ כְּרִשְׁע֖וֹ גֵּרַשְׁתִּֽהוּ׃
  
  12 וַיִּכְרְתֻ֧הוּ זָרִ֛ים עָרִיצֵ֥י גוֹיִ֖ם וַֽיִּטְּשֻׁ֑הוּ אֶל־הֶ֠הָרִים וּבְכָל־גֵּ֨אָי֜וֹת נָפְל֣וּ דָלִיּוֹתָ֗יו וַתִּשָּׁבַ֤רְנָה פֹֽארֹתָיו֙ בְּכֹל֙ אֲפִיקֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ וַיֵּרְד֧וּ מִצִּלּ֛וֹ כָּל־עַמֵּ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ וַֽיִּטְּשֻֽׁהוּ׃
  
  13 עַל־מַפַּלְתּ֥וֹ יִשְׁכְּנ֖וּ כָּל־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וְאֶל־פֹּארֹתָ֣יו הָי֔וּ כֹּ֖ל חַיַּ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
  
  14 לְמַ֡עַן אֲשֶׁר֩ לֹא־יִגְבְּה֨וּ בְקוֹמָתָ֜ם כָּל־עֲצֵי־מַ֗יִם וְלֹֽא־יִתְּנ֤וּ אֶת־צַמַּרְתָּם֙ אֶל־בֵּ֣ין עֲבֹתִ֔ים וְלֹֽא־יַעַמְד֧וּ אֵלֵיהֶ֛ם בְּגָבְהָ֖ם כָּל־שֹׁ֣תֵי מָ֑יִם כִּֽי־כֻלָּם֩ נִתְּנ֨וּ לַמָּ֜וֶת אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ תַּחְתִּ֗ית בְּת֛וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י אָדָ֖ם אֶל־י֥וֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃

  1 Λέγω δέ, ἐφ’ ὅσον χρόνον ὁ κληρονόμος νήπιός ἐστιν, οὐδὲν διαφέρει δούλου κύριος πάντων ὤν,
  
  2 ἀλλὰ ὑπὸ ἐπιτρόπους ἐστὶ καὶ οἰκονόμους ἄχρι τῆς προθεσμίας τοῦ πατρός.
  
  3 οὕτως καὶ ἡμεῖς, ὅτε ἦμεν νήπιοι, ὑπὸ τὰ στοιχεῖα τοῦ κόσμου ἤμεθα δεδουλωμένοι·
  
  4 ὅτε δὲ ἦλθεν τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ χρόνου, ἐξαπέστειλεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ, γενόμενον ἐκ γυναικός, γενόμενον ὑπὸ νόμον,
  
  5 ἵνα τοὺς ὑπὸ νόμον ἐξαγοράσῃ, ἵνα τὴν υἱοθεσίαν ἀπολάβωμεν.
  
  6 ὅτι δέ ἐστε υἱοί, ἐξαπέστειλεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὰς καρδίας ἡμῶν, κρᾶζον· Αββα ὁ πατήρ.
  
  7 ὥστε οὐκέτι εἶ δοῦλος ἀλλὰ υἱός· εἰ δὲ υἱός, καὶ κληρονόμος διὰ θεοῦ.
  
  8 Ἀλλὰ τότε μὲν οὐκ εἰδότες θεὸν ἐδουλεύσατε τοῖς φύσει μὴ οὖσι θεοῖς·
  
  9 νῦν δὲ γνόντες θεόν, μᾶλλον δὲ γνωσθέντες ὑπὸ θεοῦ, πῶς ἐπιστρέφετε πάλιν ἐπὶ τὰ ἀσθενῆ καὶ πτωχὰ στοιχεῖα, οἷς πάλιν ἄνωθεν δουλεύειν θέλετε;
  
  10 ἡμέρας παρατηρεῖσθε καὶ μῆνας καὶ καιροὺς καὶ ἐνιαυτούς.
  
  11 φοβοῦμαι ὑμᾶς μή πως εἰκῇ κεκοπίακα εἰς ὑμᾶς.
  
  12 Γίνεσθε ὡς ἐγώ, ὅτι κἀγὼ ὡς ὑμεῖς, ἀδελφοί, δέομαι ὑμῶν. οὐδέν με ἠδικήσατε·
  
  13 οἴδατε δὲ ὅτι δι’ ἀσθένειαν τῆς σαρκὸς εὐηγγελισάμην ὑμῖν τὸ πρότερον,
  
  14 καὶ τὸν πειρασμὸν ὑμῶν ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου οὐκ ἐξουθενήσατε οὐδὲ ἐξεπτύσατε, ἀλλὰ ὡς ἄγγελον θεοῦ ἐδέξασθέ με, ὡς Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν.
  
  15 ποῦ οὖν ὁ μακαρισμὸς ὑμῶν; μαρτυρῶ γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι εἰ δυνατὸν τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ὑμῶν ἐξορύξαντες ἐδώκατέ μοι.
  
  16 ὥστε ἐχθρὸς ὑμῶν γέγονα ἀληθεύων ὑμῖν;
  
  17 ζηλοῦσιν ὑμᾶς οὐ καλῶς, ἀλλὰ ἐκκλεῖσαι ὑμᾶς θέλουσιν, ἵνα αὐτοὺς ζηλοῦτε.
  
  18 καλὸν δὲ ζηλοῦσθαι ἐν καλῷ πάντοτε, καὶ μὴ μόνον ἐν τῷ παρεῖναί με πρὸς ὑμᾶς,
  
  19 τέκνα μου, οὓς πάλιν ὠδίνω μέχρις οὗ μορφωθῇ Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν·
  
  20 ἤθελον δὲ παρεῖναι πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἄρτι, καὶ ἀλλάξαι τὴν φωνήν μου, ὅτι ἀποροῦμαι ἐν ὑμῖν.
  
  21 Λέγετέ μοι, οἱ ὑπὸ νόμον θέλοντες εἶναι, τὸν νόμον οὐκ ἀκούετε;
  
  22 γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι Ἀβραὰμ δύο υἱοὺς ἔσχεν, ἕνα ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης καὶ ἕνα ἐκ τῆς ἐλευθέρας·
  
  23 ἀλλ’ ὁ μὲν ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης κατὰ σάρκα γεγέννηται, ὁ δὲ ἐκ τῆς ἐλευθέρας δι’ ἐπαγγελίας.
  
  24 ἅτινά ἐστιν ἀλληγορούμενα· αὗται γάρ εἰσιν δύο διαθῆκαι, μία μὲν ἀπὸ ὄρους Σινᾶ, εἰς δουλείαν γεννῶσα, ἥτις ἐστὶν Ἁγάρ,
  
  25 τὸ δὲ Ἁγὰρ Σινᾶ ὄρος ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ Ἀραβίᾳ, συστοιχεῖ δὲ τῇ νῦν Ἰερουσαλήμ, δουλεύει γὰρ μετὰ τῶν τέκνων αὐτῆς·
  
  26 ἡ δὲ ἄνω Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐλευθέρα ἐστίν, ἥτις ἐστὶν μήτηρ ἡμῶν·
  
  27 γέγραπται γάρ· Εὐφράνθητι, στεῖρα ἡ οὐ τίκτουσα, ῥῆξον καὶ βόησον, ἡ οὐκ ὠδίνουσα· ὅτι πολλὰ τὰ τέκνα τῆς ἐρήμου μᾶλλον ἢ τῆς ἐχούσης τὸν ἄνδρα.
  
  28 ὑμεῖς δέ, ἀδελφοί, κατὰ Ἰσαὰκ ἐπαγγελίας τέκνα ἐστέ·
  
  29 ἀλλ’ ὥσπερ τότε ὁ κατὰ σάρκα γεννηθεὶς ἐδίωκε τὸν κατὰ πνεῦμα, οὕτως καὶ νῦν.
  
  30 ἀλλὰ τί λέγει ἡ γραφή; Ἔκβαλε τὴν παιδίσκην καὶ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς, οὐ γὰρ μὴ κληρονομήσει ὁ υἱὸς τῆς παιδίσκης μετὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ τῆς ἐλευθέρας.
  
  31 διό, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἐσμὲν παιδίσκης τέκνα ἀλλὰ τῆς ἐλευθέρας.
