- 1 Rois 1
  
  1 Et le roi David était vieux, avancé en âge. Et on le couvrit de vêtements, mais il ne fut pas réchauffé.
  
  2 Et ses serviteurs lui dirent : Qu'on cherche pour le roi, mon seigneur, une jeune fille vierge, et qu'elle se tienne devant le roi, et qu'elle le soigne, et qu'elle couche dans ton sein, et que le roi, mon seigneur, se réchauffe.
  
  3 Et on chercha une belle jeune fille dans tous les confins d'Israël ; et on trouva Abishag, la Sunamite, et on l'amena au roi.
  
  4 Et la jeune fille était extrêmement belle ; et elle soignait le roi et le servait ; mais le roi ne la connut pas.
  
  5 Et Adonija, fils de Hagguith, s'éleva, disant : Moi, je serai roi. Et il se procura des chars et des cavaliers, et cinquante hommes qui couraient devant lui.
  
  6 Et son père ne l'avait jamais chagriné, en disant : Pourquoi fais-tu ainsi ? Et il était aussi un très-bel homme ; et sa mère l'avait enfanté après Absalom.
  
  7 Et il conféra avec Joab, fils de Tseruïa, et avec Abiathar, le sacrificateur, et ils aidèrent Adonija et le suivirent.
  
  8 Mais Tsadok, le sacrificateur, et Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada, et Nathan, le prophète, et Shimhi, et Réï, et les hommes forts qui étaient à David, ne furent pas avec Adonija.
  
  9 Et Adonija sacrifia du menu et du gros bétail et des bêtes grasses, près de la pierre de Zokheleth, qui est à côté d'En-Roguel. Et il invita tous ses frères, les fils du roi, et tous les hommes de Juda, serviteurs du roi.
  
  10 Mais il n'invita pas Nathan, le prophète, ni Benaïa, ni les hommes forts, ni Salomon, son frère.
  
  11 Et Nathan parla à Bath-Shéba, mère de Salomon, en disant : N'as-tu pas entendu qu'Adonija, fils de Hagguith, règne ? Et notre seigneur David ne le sait pas.
  
  12 Maintenant donc viens, et que je te donne un conseil, je te prie, et sauve ta vie et la vie de ton fils Salomon.
  
  13 Va, et entre auprès du roi David, et dis-lui : O roi, mon seigneur, n'as-tu pas juré à ta servante, en disant : Salomon, ton fils, règnera après moi, et lui s'assiéra sur mon trône ? Et pourquoi Adonija règne-t-il ?
  
  14 Voici, pendant que tu parleras encore là avec le roi, moi je viendrai après toi, et je confirmerai tes paroles.
  
  15 Et Bath-Shéba entra auprès du roi, dans la chambre ; et le roi était très-vieux ; et Abishag, la Sunamite, servait le roi.
  
  16 Et Bath-Shéba s'inclina, et se prosterna devant le roi. Et le roi lui dit : Que veux-tu ?
  
  17 Et elle lui dit : Mon seigneur, tu as juré par l'Éternel, ton Dieu, à ta servante : Salomon, ton fils, régnera après moi, et il s'assiéra sur mon trône.
  
  18 Et maintenant, voici Adonija règne ; et maintenant, ô roi, mon seigneur, tu ne le sais pas.
  
  19 Et il a sacrifié des boeufs et des bêtes grasses, et du menu bétail en abondance, et il a invité tous les fils du roi, et Abiathar, le sacrificateur, et Joab, le chef de l'armée ; mais Salomon, ton serviteur, il ne l'a pas invité.
  
  20 Et quant à toi, ô roi, mon seigneur, les yeux de tout Israël sont sur toi, pour que tu leur déclares qui doit s'asseoir sur le trône du roi, mon seigneur, après lui.
  
  21 Et il arrivera que, quand le roi, mon seigneur, sera endormi avec ses pères, moi et mon fils Salomon, nous serons trouvés coupables.
  
  22 Et voici, elle parlait encore avec le roi, que Nathan, le prophète, arriva.
  
  23 Et on l'annonça au roi, en disant : Voici Nathan, le prophète. Et il entra devant le roi, et se prosterna en terre sur sa face devant le roi.
  
  24 Et Nathan dit : O roi, mon seigneur, as-tu dit : Adonija régnera après moi, et lui s'assiéra sur mon trône ?
  
  25 Car il est descendu aujourd'hui, et a sacrifié des boeufs et des bêtes grasses, et du menu bétail en abondance, et a invité tous les fils du roi, et les chefs de l'armée, et Abiathar, le sacrificateur ; et voilà, ils mangent et boivent devant lui, et disent : Vive le roi Adonija !
  
  26 Mais moi, ton serviteur, et Tsadok, le sacrificateur, et Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada, et ton serviteur Salomon, il ne nous a pas invités.
  
  27 Est-ce de la part du roi, mon seigneur, que cette chose a lieu ? et tu n'as pas fait connaître à tes serviteurs qui s'assiéra sur le trône du roi, mon seigneur, après lui.
  
  28 Et le roi David répondit et dit : Appelez-moi Bath-Shéba. Et elle entra devant le roi, et se tint devant le roi.
  
  29 Et le roi jura, et dit : L'Éternel est vivant, qui a racheté mon âme de toute détresse, que,
  
  30 comme je t'ai juré par l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, disant : Salomon, ton fils, régnera après moi, et lui s'assiéra sur mon trône, à ma place, -ainsi je ferai ce jour-ci.
  
  31 Et Bath-Shéba s'inclina, le visage contre terre, et se prosterna devant le roi, et dit : Que le roi David, mon seigneur, vive à toujours !
  
  32 Et le roi David dit : Appelez-moi Tsadok, le sacrificateur, et Nathan, le prophète, et Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada. Et ils entrèrent devant le roi.
  
  33 Et le roi leur dit : Prenez avec vous les serviteurs de votre seigneur, et faites monter Salomon, mon fils, sur ma mule, et faites-le descendre à Guihon ;
  
  34 et que Tsadok, le sacrificateur, et Nathan, le prophète, l'oignent là pour roi sur Israël ; et vous sonnerez de la trompette, et vous direz : Vive le roi Salomon !
  
  35 Et vous monterez après lui ; et qu'il vienne et qu'il s'asseye sur mon trône ; et lui règnera à ma place ; et j'ai ordonné qu'il soit prince sur Israël et sur Juda.
  
  36 Et Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada, répondit au roi et dit : Amen ! Que l'Éternel, le Dieu du roi, mon seigneur, dise ainsi !
  
  37 Comme l'Éternel a été avec le roi, mon seigneur, qu'il soit de même avec Salomon, et qu'il rende son trône plus grand que le trône du roi David, mon seigneur !
  
  38 Et Tsadok, le sacrificateur, et Nathan, le prophète, et Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada, et les Keréthiens, et les Peléthiens, descendirent, et firent monter Salomon sur la mule du roi David, et le menèrent à Guihon.
  
  39 Et Tsadok, le sacrificateur, prit la corne d'huile dans le tabernacle, et oignit Salomon ; et ils sonnèrent de la trompette, et tout le peuple dit : Vive le roi Salomon !
  
  40 Et tout le peuple monta après lui, et le peuple jouait de la flûte, et ils se réjouissaient d'une grande joie ; et la terre se fendait au bruit qu'ils faisaient.
  
  41 Et Adonija et tous les invités qui étaient avec lui l'entendirent, comme ils terminaient leur repas. Et Joab entendit la voix de la trompette, et il dit : Pourquoi ce bruit de la ville en tumulte !
  
  42 Tandis qu'il parlait, voici, Jonathan, fils d'Abiathar, le sacrificateur, arriva. Et Adonija dit : Entre, car tu es un vaillant homme, et tu apportes de bonnes nouvelles.
  
  43 Et Jonathan répondit et dit à Adonija : Oui, mais le roi David, notre seigneur, a fait Salomon roi.
  
  44 Et le roi a envoyé avec lui Tsadok, le sacrificateur, et Nathan, le prophète, et Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada, et les Keréthiens, et les Peléthiens, et ils l'ont fait monter sur la mule du roi ;
  
  45 et Tsadok, le sacrificateur, et Nathan, le prophète, l'ont oint pour roi à Guihon ; et, de là, ils sont montés en se réjouissant ; et la ville est en tumulte. C'est là le bruit que vous avez entendu.
  
  46 Et aussi Salomon est assis sur le trône du royaume ;
  
  47 et les serviteurs du roi sont aussi venus pour bénir le roi David, notre seigneur, disant : Que ton Dieu fasse le nom de Salomon plus excellent que ton nom, et rende son trône plus grand que ton trône ! Et le roi s'est prosterné sur son lit.
  
  48 Et le roi a aussi dit ainsi : Béni soit l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, qui a donné aujourd'hui quelqu'un qui fût assis sur mon trône, et mes yeux le voient !
  
  49 Et tous les invités qui étaient avec Adonija furent saisis de peur ; et ils se levèrent, et s'en allèrent chacun son chemin.
  
  50 Et Adonija eut peur à cause de Salomon, et il se leva, et s'en alla, et saisit les cornes de l'autel.
  
  51 Et on le rapporta à Salomon, disant : Voici, Adonija craint le roi Salomon ; et voici, il a saisi les cornes de l'autel, disant : Que le roi Salomon me jure aujourd'hui qu'il ne fera pas mourir son serviteur par l'épée.
  
  52 Et Salomon dit : S'il est un homme fidèle, pas un de ses cheveux ne tombera en terre ; mais si du mal est trouvé en lui, il mourra.
  
  53 Et le roi Salomon envoya, et on le fit descendre de l'autel. Et il vint et se prosterna devant le roi Salomon ; et Salomon lui dit : Va dans ta maison.
  
  Ezéchiel 32
  
  1 Et il arriva, en la douzième année, au douzième mois, le premier jour du mois, que la parole de l'Éternel vint à moi, disant :
  
  2 Fils d'homme, élève une complainte sur le Pharaon, le roi d'Égypte, et dis-lui : Tu étais semblable à un jeune lion parmi les nations, tu étais comme un monstre dans les eaux ; et tu t'élançais dans tes fleuves, et tu troublais les eaux avec tes pieds, et tu rendais bourbeux leurs fleuves.
  
  3 Ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : J'étendrai sur toi mon rets par un rassemblement de peuples nombreux, et ils te feront monter avec mon filet ;
  
  4 et je te laisserai là, sur la terre, je te jetterai sur la face des champs, et je ferai demeurer sur toi tous les oiseaux des cieux et je rassasierai de toi les bêtes de toute la terre.
  
  5 Et je mettrai ta chair sur les montagnes, et je remplirai les vallées du monceau de tes membres ;
  
  6 et j'arroserai de ton sang le pays où tu nages, jusqu'aux montagnes ; et les ravins seront remplis de toi.
  
  7 Et quand je t'éteindrai, je couvrirai les cieux, et j'obscurcirai leurs étoiles ; je couvrirai le soleil de nuages, et la lune ne fera pas luire sa clarté.
  
  8 Tous les luminaires qui luisent dans les cieux, je les obscurcirai à cause de toi, et je mettrai les ténèbres sur ton pays, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  9 Et je troublerai le coeur de beaucoup de peuples, quand je ferai parvenir la nouvelle de ta ruine parmi les nations, dans des pays que tu n'as pas connus.
  
  10 Et je frapperai de stupeur à cause de toi beaucoup de peuples ; et leurs rois frémirent d'horreur à cause de toi, quand je brandirai mon épée devant eux, et ils trembleront à tout moment, chacun pour sa vie, au jour de ta chute.
  
  11 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : L'épée du roi de Babylone viendra sur toi.
  
  12 Par les épées des hommes forts je ferai tomber ta multitude ; tous, ils sont les terribles d'entre les nations, et ils détruiront l'orgueil de l'Égypte, et toute sa multitude sera anéantie.
  
  13 Et je ferai périr tout son bétail d'auprès des grandes eaux ; et le pied de l'homme ne les troublera plus, et l'ongle divisé du bétail ne les troublera plus.
  
  14 Alors je rendrai leurs eaux limpides, et je ferai couler leurs rivières comme de l'huile, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  15 Quand j'aurai fait du pays d'Égypte une désolation, et que le pays sera désolé, vide de ce qu'il contient, quand j'aurai frappé tous ceux qui y habitent, alors ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.
  
  16 C'est une complainte, et on la dira pour se lamenter ; les filles des nations la diront en se lamentant, elles la diront en se lamentant sur l'Égypte et sur toute sa multitude, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  17 Et il arriva, la douzième année, le quinzième jour du mois, que la parole de l'Éternel vint à moi, disant :
  
  18 Fils d'homme, gémis sur la multitude de l'Égypte, et fais-la descendre, elle et les filles des nations magnifiques, dans les lieux bas de la terre, avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse.
  
  19 A qui es-tu supérieure en agrément ? Descends, et sois couchée avec les incirconcis.
  
  20 Ils tomberont parmi ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée ; l'épée a été donnée ; traînez l'Égypte et toute sa multitude.
  
  21 Les forts d'entre les puissants, avec ceux qui lui avaient aidé, lui parleront du milieu du shéol ; ils sont descendus, ils sont couchés, incirconcis, tués par l'épée.
  
  22 Là est Assur et toute son assemblée, ses sépulcres autour de lui : tous tués, tombés par l'épée.
  
  23 Ses sépulcres ont été posés au fond de la fosse, et son assemblée est autour de son sépulcre : tous tués, tombés par l'épée, eux qui répandaient la terreur sur la terre des vivants.
  
  24 Là est Élam, et toute sa multitude autour de son sépulcre : tous tués, tombés par l'épée ; ils sont descendus incirconcis dans les lieux bas de la terre, eux qui répandaient leur terreur sur la terre des vivants, et qui ont porté leur confusion avec ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse.
  
  25 On a mis sa couche au milieu des tués, avec toute sa multitude, ses sépulcres autour de lui : eux tous incirconcis, tués par l'épée, quoique leur terreur fût répandue sur la terre des vivants ; et ils portent leur confusion avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse : il a été placé parmi les tués.
  
  26 Là est Méshec, Tubal, et toute leur multitude, leurs sépulcres autour d'eux : eux tous incirconcis, tués par l'épée, quoiqu'ils aient répandu leur terreur sur la terre des vivants.
  
  27 Et ils n'ont pas été couchés avec les hommes forts, tombés d'entre les incirconcis, qui sont descendus dans le shéol avec leurs instruments de guerre, et sous la tête desquels on a mis leurs épées, et dont les iniquités sont sur leurs os ; quoiqu'ils fussent la terreur des hommes forts sur la terre des vivants.
  
  28 Toi aussi, tu as été brisée au milieu des incirconcis, et tu es couchée avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée.
  
  29 Là est Édom, ses rois, et tous ses princes, qui, dans leur vaillance, ont été placés avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée ; ils sont couchés avec les incirconcis et avec ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse.
  
  30 Là sont les princes du nord, eux tous, et tous les Sidoniens, qui sont descendus avec les tués, honteux de la terreur qu'ils répandaient par leur vaillance ; et ils sont couchés incirconcis avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée, et ils portent leur confusion avec ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse.
  
  31 Le Pharaon les verra, et il sera consolé au sujet de toute sa multitude, le Pharaon et toute son armée, tués par l'épée, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  32 Car j'ai répandu ma terreur dans la terre des vivants ; et il sera couché au milieu des incirconcis, avec ceux qui ont été tués par l'épée, le Pharaon, et toute sa multitude, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
  
  Galates 5
  
  1 Christ nous a placés dans la liberté en nous affranchissant ; tenez-vous donc fermes, et ne soyez pas de nouveau retenus sous un joug de servitude.
  
  2 Voici, moi Paul, je vous dis que si vous êtes circoncis, Christ ne vous profitera de rien ;
  
  3 et je proteste de nouveau à tout homme circoncis, qu'il est tenu d'accomplir toute la loi.
  
  4 Vous vous êtes séparés de tout le bénéfice qu'il y a dans le Christ, vous tous qui vous justifiez par la loi ; vous êtes déchus de la grâce.
  
  5 Car nous, par l'Esprit, sur le principe de la foi, nous attendons l'espérance de la justice.
  
  6 Car, dans le Christ Jésus, ni circoncision, ni incirconcision, n'ont de valeur, mais la foi opérante par l'amour.
  
  7 Vous couriez bien, qui est-ce qui vous a arrêtés pur que vous n'obéissiez pas à la vérité ?
  
  8 La persuasion ne vient pas de celui qui vous appelle.
  
  9 Un peu de levain fait lever la pâte tout entière.
  
  10 J'ai confiance à votre égard par le Seigneur, que vous n'aurez point d'autre sentiment ; mais celui qui vous trouble, quel qu'il soit, en portera le jugement.
  
  11 Mais moi, frères, si je prêche encore la circoncision, pourquoi suis-je encore persécuté ? -alors le scandale de la croix est anéanti.
  
  12 Je voudrais que ceux qui vous bouleversent se retranchassent même.
  
  13 Car vous, frères, vous avez été appelés à la liberté ; seulement n'usez pas de la liberté comme d'une occasion pour la chair, mais, par amour, servez-vous l'un l'autre ;
  
  14 car toute la loi est accomplie dans une seule parole, dans celle-ci : "Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même".
  
  15 Mais si vous vous mordez et vous dévorez l'un l'autre, prenez garde que vous ne soyez consumés l'un par l'autre.
  
  16 Mais je dis : Marchez par l'Esprit, et vous n'accomplirez point la convoitise de la chair.
  
  17 Car la chair convoite contre l'Esprit, et l'Esprit contre la chair ; et ces choses sont opposées l'une à l'autre, afin que vous ne pratiquiez pas les choses que vous voudriez.
  
  18 Mais si vous êtes conduis par l'Esprit, vous n'êtes pas sous la loi.
  
  19 Or les oeuvres de la chair sont manifestes, lesquelles sont la fornication, l'impureté, l'impudicité,
  
  20 l'idolâtrie, la magie, les inimitiés, les querelles, les jalousies, les colères, les intrigues, les divisions,
  
  21 les sectes, les envies, les meurtres, les ivrogneries, les orgies, et les choses semblables à celles-là, au sujet desquelles je vous déclare d'avance, comme aussi je l'ai déjà dit, que ceux qui commettent de telles choses n'hériteront pas du royaume de Dieu.
  
  22 Mais le fruit de l'Esprit est l'amour, la joie, la paix, la longanimité, la bienveillance, la bonté,
  
  23 la fidélité, la douceur, la tempérance : contre de telles choses, il n'y a pas de loi.
  
  24 Or ceux qui sont du Christ ont crucifié la chair avec les passions et les convoitises.
  
  25 Si nous vivons par l'Esprit, marchons aussi par l'Esprit.
  
  26 Ne soyons pas désireux de vaine gloire, en nous provoquant les uns les autres et en nous portant envie les uns aux autres.

  1 Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn't keep warm.
  
  2 Therefore his servants said to him, "Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin. Let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm."
  
  3 So they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
  
  4 The young lady was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king didn't know her intimately.
  
  5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king." Then he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
  
  6 His father had not displeased him at any time in saying, "Why have you done so?" and he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.
  
  7 He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.
  
  8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
  
  9 Adonijah killed sheep and cattle and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants:
  
  10 but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he didn't call.
  
  11 Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Haven't you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn't know it?
  
  12 Now therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.
  
  13 Go in to king David, and tell him, 'Didn't you, my lord, king, swear to your handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign?'
  
  14 Behold, while you yet talk there with the king, I also will come in after you, and confirm your words."
  
  15 Bathsheba went in to the king into the room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king.
  
  16 Bathsheba bowed, and showed respect to the king. The king said, "What would you like?"
  
  17 She said to him, "My lord, you swore by Yahweh your God to your handmaid, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.'
  
  18 Now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don't know it.
  
  19 He has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn't called Solomon your servant.
  
  20 You, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
  
  21 Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders."
  
  22 Behold, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
  
  23 They told the king, saying, "Behold, Nathan the prophet!" When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
  
  24 Nathan said, "My lord, king, have you said, 'Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne?'
  
  25 For he is gone down this day, and has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, 'Long live king Adonijah!'
  
  26 But he hasn't called me, even me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.
  
  27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven't shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"
  
  28 Then king David answered, "Call to me Bathsheba." She came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.
  
  29 The king swore, and said, "As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
  
  30 most certainly as I swore to you by Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;' most certainly so will I do this day."
  
  31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and showed respect to the king, and said, "Let my lord king David live forever!"
  
  32 King David said, "Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." They came before the king.
  
  33 The king said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.
  
  34 Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, 'Long live king Solomon!'
  
  35 Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah."
  
  36 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, "Amen. May Yahweh, the God of my lord the king, say so.
  
  37 As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David."
  
  38 So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
  
  39 Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, "Long live king Solomon!"
  
  40 All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with their sound.
  
  41 Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, "Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?"
  
  42 While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said, "Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news."
  
  43 Jonathan answered Adonijah, "Most certainly our lord king David has made Solomon king.
  
  44 The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king's mule.
  
  45 Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.
  
  46 Also, Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.
  
  47 Moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, 'May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;' and the king bowed himself on the bed.
  
  48 Also thus said the king, 'Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.'"
  
  49 All the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and each man went his way.
  
  50 Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
  
  51 It was told Solomon, saying, "Behold, Adonijah fears king Solomon; for, behold, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let king Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.'"
  
  52 Solomon said, "If he shows himself a worthy man, not a hair of him shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die."
  
  53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, "Go to your house."

  1 It happened in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first [day] of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
  
  2 Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and tell him, You were likened to a young lion of the nations: yet you are as a monster in the seas; and you broke out with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers.
  
  3 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will spread out my net on you with a company of many peoples; and they shall bring you up in my net.
  
  4 I will leave you on the land, I will cast you forth on the open field, and will cause all the birds of the sky to settle on you, and I will satisfy the animals of the whole earth with you.
  
  5 I will lay your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your height.
  
  6 I will also water with your blood the land in which you swim, even to the mountains; and the watercourses shall be full of you.
  
  7 When I shall extinguish you, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.
  
  8 All the bright lights of the sky will I make dark over you, and set darkness on your land, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  9 I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I shall bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.
  
  10 Yes, I will make many peoples amazed at you, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for you, when I shall brandish my sword before them; and they shall tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your fall.
  
  11 For thus says the Lord Yahweh: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come on you.
  
  12 By the swords of the mighty will I cause your multitude to fall; the terrible of the nations are they all: and they shall bring to nothing the pride of Egypt, and all its multitude shall be destroyed.
  
  13 I will destroy also all its animals from beside many waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them any more, nor the hoofs of animals trouble them.
  
  14 Then will I make their waters clear, and cause their rivers to run like oil, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  15 When I shall make the land of Egypt desolate and waste, a land destitute of that of which it was full, when I shall strike all those who dwell therein, then shall they know that I am Yahweh.
  
  16 This is the lamentation with which they shall lament; the daughters of the nations shall lament therewith; over Egypt, and over all her multitude, shall they lament therewith, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  17 It happened also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth [day] of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
  
  18 Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lower parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.
  
  19 Whom do you pass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.
  
  20 They shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword; draw her away and all her multitudes.
  
  21 The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of Sheol with those who help him: they are gone down, they lie still, even the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
  
  22 Asshur is there and all her company; her graves are all around her; all of them slain, fallen by the sword;
  
  23 whose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the pit, and her company is around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror in the land of the living.
  
  24 There is Elam and all her multitude around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who are gone down uncircumcised into the lower parts of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living, and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.
  
  25 They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude; her graves are around her; all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for their terror was caused in the land of the living, and they have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of those who are slain.
  
  26 There is Meshech, Tubal, and all their multitude; their graves are around them; all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for they caused their terror in the land of the living.
  
  27 They shall not lie with the mighty who are fallen of the uncircumcised, who are gone down to Sheol with their weapons of war, and have laid their swords under their heads, and their iniquities are on their bones; for [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
  
  28 But you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shall lie with those who are slain by the sword.
  
  29 There is Edom, her kings and all her princes, who in their might are laid with those who are slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with those who go down to the pit.
  
  30 There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who are gone down with the slain; in the terror which they caused by their might they are put to shame; and they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.
  
  31 Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  32 For I have put his terror in the land of the living; and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  Galates 5
  
  1 Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
  
  2 Behold, I, Paul, tell you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will profit you nothing.
  
  3 Yes, I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
  
  4 You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace.
  
  5 For we, through the Spirit, by faith wait for the hope of righteousness.
  
  6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.
  
  7 You were running well! Who interfered with you that you should not obey the truth?
  
  8 This persuasion is not from him who calls you.
  
  9 A little yeast grows through the whole lump.
  
  10 I have confidence toward you in the Lord that you will think no other way. But he who troubles you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.
  
  11 But I, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been removed.
  
  12 I wish that those who disturb you would cut themselves off.
  
  13 For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don't use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.
  
  14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
  
  15 But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don't consume one another.
  
  16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lust of the flesh.
  
  17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.
  
  18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
  
  19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness,
  
  20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies,
  
  21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
  
  22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,
  
  23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
  
  24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
  
  25 If we live by the Spirit, let's also walk by the Spirit.
  
  26 Let's not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another.

  35 וַעֲלִיתֶ֣ם אַחֲרָ֗יו וּבָא֙ וְיָשַׁ֣ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֔י וְה֥וּא יִמְלֹ֖ךְ תַּחְתָּ֑י וְאֹת֤וֹ צִוִּ֙יתִי֙ לִֽהְי֣וֹת נָגִ֔יד עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְעַל־יְהוּדָֽה׃
  
  36 וַיַּ֨עַן בְּנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן־יְהֽוֹיָדָ֛ע אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ אָמֵ֑ן כֵּ֚ן יֹאמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֱלֹהֵ֖י אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  37 כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר הָיָ֤ה יְהוָה֙ עִם־אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כֵּ֖ן *יהי **יִֽהְיֶ֣ה עִם־שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וִֽיגַדֵּל֙ אֶת־כִּסְא֔וֹ מִ֨כִּסֵּ֔א אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִֽד׃
  
  38 וַיֵּ֣רֶד צָד֣וֹק הַ֠כֹּהֵן וְנָתָ֨ן הַנָּבִ֜יא וּבְנָיָ֣הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֗ע וְהַכְּרֵתִי֙ וְהַפְּלֵתִ֔י וַיַּרְכִּ֙בוּ֙ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַל־פִּרְדַּ֖ת הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֑ד וַיֹּלִ֥כוּ אֹת֖וֹ עַל־גִּחֽוֹן׃
  
  39 וַיִּקַּח֩ צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אֶת־קֶ֤רֶן הַשֶּׁ֙מֶן֙ מִן־הָאֹ֔הֶל וַיִּמְשַׁ֖ח אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ כָּל־הָעָ֔ם יְחִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
  
  40 וַיַּעֲל֤וּ כָל־הָעָם֙ אַֽחֲרָ֔יו וְהָעָם֙ מְחַלְּלִ֣ים בַּחֲלִלִ֔ים וּשְׂמֵחִ֖ים שִׂמְחָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֑ה וַתִּבָּקַ֥ע הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּקוֹלָֽם׃
  
  41 וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע אֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּ וְכָל־הַקְּרֻאִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ וְהֵ֖ם כִּלּ֣וּ לֶאֱכֹ֑ל וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע יוֹאָב֙ אֶת־ק֣וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מַדּ֥וּעַ קֽוֹל־הַקִּרְיָ֖ה הוֹמָֽה׃
  
  42 עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ מְדַבֵּ֔ר וְהִנֵּ֧ה יוֹנָתָ֛ן בֶּן־אֶבְיָתָ֥ר הַכֹּהֵ֖ן בָּ֑א וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲדֹנִיָּ֙הוּ֙ בֹּ֔א כִּ֣י אִ֥ישׁ חַ֛יִל אַ֖תָּה וְט֥וֹב תְּבַשֵּֽׂר׃
  
  43 וַיַּ֙עַן֙ יוֹנָתָ֔ן וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ אֲבָ֕ל אֲדֹנֵ֥ינוּ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ־דָּוִ֖ד הִמְלִ֥יךְ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
  
  44 וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח אִתּֽוֹ־הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ אֶת־צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְאֶת־נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֗יא וּבְנָיָ֙הוּ֙ בֶּן־יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע וְהַכְּרֵתִ֖י וְהַפְּלֵתִ֑י וַיַּרְכִּ֣בוּ אֹת֔וֹ עַ֖ל פִּרְדַּ֥ת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  45 וַיִּמְשְׁח֣וּ אֹת֡וֹ צָד֣וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֣ן וְנָתָן֩ הַנָּבִ֨יא לְמֶ֜לֶךְ בְּגִח֗וֹן וַיַּעֲל֤וּ מִשָּׁם֙ שְׂמֵחִ֔ים וַתֵּהֹ֖ם הַקִּרְיָ֑ה ה֥וּא הַקּ֖וֹל אֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁמַעְתֶּֽם׃
  
  46 וְגַם֙ יָשַׁ֣ב שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַ֖ל כִּסֵּ֥א הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃
  
  47 וְגַם־בָּ֜אוּ עַבְדֵ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ לְ֠בָרֵךְ אֶת־אֲדֹנֵ֜ינוּ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִד֮ לֵאמֹר֒ יֵיטֵ֨ב *אלהיך **אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶת־שֵׁ֤ם שְׁלֹמֹה֙ מִשְּׁמֶ֔ךָ וִֽיגַדֵּ֥ל אֶת־כִּסְא֖וֹ מִכִּסְאֶ֑ךָ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עַל־הַמִּשְׁכָּֽב׃
  
  48 וְגַם־כָּ֖כָה אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ בָּר֨וּךְ יְהוָ֜ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֥ן הַיּ֛וֹם יֹשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֖י וְעֵינַ֥י רֹאֽוֹת׃
  
  49 וַיֶּֽחֶרְדוּ֙ וַיָּקֻ֔מוּ כָּל־הַ֨קְּרֻאִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ לְדַרְכּֽוֹ׃
  
  50 וַאֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ יָרֵ֖א מִפְּנֵ֣י שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַיָּ֣קָם וַיֵּ֔לֶךְ וַֽיַּחֲזֵ֖ק בְּקַרְנ֥וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃
  
  51 וַיֻּגַּ֤ד לִשְׁלֹמֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּה֙ אֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ יָרֵ֖א אֶת־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וְ֠הִנֵּה אָחַ֞ז בְּקַרְנ֤וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יִשָּֽׁבַֽע־לִ֤י כַיּוֹם֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אִם־יָמִ֥ית אֶת־עַבְדּ֖וֹ בֶּחָֽרֶב׃
  
  52 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אִ֚ם יִהְיֶ֣ה לְבֶן־חַ֔יִל לֹֽא־יִפֹּ֥ל מִשַּׂעֲרָת֖וֹ אָ֑רְצָה וְאִם־רָעָ֥ה תִמָּצֵא־ב֖וֹ וָמֵֽת׃
  
  53 וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה וַיֹּרִדֻ֙הוּ֙ מֵעַ֣ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וַיָּבֹ֕א וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ל֥וֹ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה לֵ֥ךְ לְבֵיתֶֽךָ׃

  1 וַֽיְהִי֙ בִּשְׁתֵּ֣י עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה שָׁנָ֔ה בִּשְׁנֵי־עָשָׂ֥ר חֹ֖דֶשׁ בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ הָיָ֥ה דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃
  
  2 בֶּן־אָדָ֗ם שָׂ֤א קִינָה֙ עַל־פַּרְעֹ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֔יִם וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֵלָ֔יו כְּפִ֥יר גּוֹיִ֖ם נִדְמֵ֑יתָ וְאַתָּה֙ כַּתַּנִּ֣ים בַּיַּמִּ֔ים וַתָּ֣גַח בְּנַהֲרוֹתֶ֗יךָ וַתִּדְלַח־מַ֙יִם֙ בְּרַגְלֶ֔יךָ וַתִּרְפֹּ֖ס נַהֲרוֹתָֽם׃
  
  3 כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה וּפָרַשְׂתִּ֤י עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ אֶת־רִשְׁתִּ֔י בִּקְהַ֖ל עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וְהֶעֱל֖וּךָ בְּחֶרְמִֽי׃
  
  4 וּנְטַשְׁתִּ֣יךָ בָאָ֔רֶץ עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה אֲטִילֶ֑ךָ וְהִשְׁכַּנְתִּ֤י עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ כָּל־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְהִשְׂבַּעְתִּ֥י מִמְּךָ֖ חַיַּ֥ת כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
  
  5 וְנָתַתִּ֥י אֶת־בְּשָׂרְךָ֖ עַל־הֶֽהָרִ֑ים וּמִלֵּאתִ֥י הַגֵּאָי֖וֹת רָמוּתֶֽךָ׃
  
  6 וְהִשְׁקֵיתִ֨י אֶ֧רֶץ צָפָתְךָ֛ מִדָּמְךָ֖ אֶל־הֶֽהָרִ֑ים וַאֲפִקִ֖ים יִמָּלְא֥וּן מִמֶּֽךָּ׃
  
  7 וְכִסֵּיתִ֤י בְכַבּֽוֹתְךָ֙ שָׁמַ֔יִם וְהִקְדַּרְתִּ֖י אֶת־כֹּֽכְבֵיהֶ֑ם שֶׁ֚מֶשׁ בֶּעָנָ֣ן אֲכַסֶּ֔נּוּ וְיָרֵ֖חַ לֹא־יָאִ֥יר אוֹרֽוֹ׃
  
  8 כָּל־מְא֤וֹרֵי אוֹר֙ בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם אַקְדִּירֵ֖ם עָלֶ֑יךָ וְנָתַ֤תִּי חֹ֙שֶׁךְ֙ עַֽל־אַרְצְךָ֔ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃
  
  9 וְהִ֨כְעַסְתִּ֔י לֵ֖ב עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים בַּהֲבִיאִ֤י שִׁבְרְךָ֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם עַל־אֲרָצ֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יְדַעְתָּֽם׃
  
  10 וַהֲשִׁמּוֹתִ֨י עָלֶ֜יךָ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֗ים וּמַלְכֵיהֶם֙ יִשְׂעֲר֤וּ עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ שַׂ֔עַר בְּעוֹפְפִ֥י חַרְבִּ֖י עַל־פְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וְחָרְד֤וּ לִרְגָעִים֙ אִ֣ישׁ לְנַפְשׁ֔וֹ בְּי֖וֹם מַפַּלְתֶּֽךָ׃
  
  11 כִּ֛י כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה חֶ֥רֶב מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֖ל תְּבוֹאֶֽךָ׃
  
  12 בְּחַרְב֤וֹת גִּבּוֹרִים֙ אַפִּ֣יל הֲמוֹנֶ֔ךָ עָרִיצֵ֥י גוֹיִ֖ם כֻּלָּ֑ם וְשָֽׁדְדוּ֙ אֶת־גְּא֣וֹן מִצְרַ֔יִם וְנִשְׁמַ֖ד כָּל־הֲמוֹנָֽהּ׃
  
  13 וְהַֽאֲבַדְתִּי֙ אֶת־כָּל־בְּהֶמְתָּ֔הּ מֵעַ֖ל מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֑ים וְלֹ֨א תִדְלָחֵ֤ם רֶֽגֶל־אָדָם֙ ע֔וֹד וּפַרְס֥וֹת בְּהֵמָ֖ה לֹ֥א תִדְלָחֵֽם׃
  
  14 אָ֚ז אַשְׁקִ֣יעַ מֵֽימֵיהֶ֔ם וְנַהֲרוֹתָ֖ם כַּשֶּׁ֣מֶן אוֹלִ֑יךְ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃
  
  15 בְּתִתִּי֩ אֶת־אֶ֨רֶץ מִצְרַ֜יִם שְׁמָמָ֣ה וּנְשַׁמָּ֗ה אֶ֚רֶץ מִמְּלֹאָ֔הּ בְּהַכּוֹתִ֖י אֶת־כָּל־י֣וֹשְׁבֵי בָ֑הּ וְיָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
  
  16 קִינָ֥ה הִיא֙ וְק֣וֹנְנ֔וּהָ בְּנ֥וֹת הַגּוֹיִ֖ם תְּקוֹנֵ֣נָּה אוֹתָ֑הּ עַל־מִצְרַ֤יִם וְעַל־כָּל־הֲמוֹנָהּ֙ תְּקוֹנֵ֣נָּה אוֹתָ֔הּ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃

  18 בֶּן־אָדָ֕ם נְהֵ֛ה עַל־הֲמ֥וֹן מִצְרַ֖יִם וְהוֹרִדֵ֑הוּ א֠וֹתָהּ וּבְנ֨וֹת גּוֹיִ֧ם אַדִּרִ֛ם אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ תַּחְתִּיּ֖וֹת אֶת־י֥וֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃
  
  19 מִמִּ֖י נָעָ֑מְתָּ רְדָ֥ה וְהָשְׁכְּבָ֖ה אֶת־עֲרֵלִֽים׃
  
  20 בְּת֥וֹךְ חַלְלֵי־חֶ֖רֶב יִפֹּ֑לוּ חֶ֣רֶב נִתָּ֔נָה מָשְׁכ֥וּ אוֹתָ֖הּ וְכָל־הֲמוֹנֶֽיהָ׃
  
  21 יְדַבְּרוּ־ל֞וֹ אֵלֵ֧י גִבּוֹרִ֛ים מִתּ֥וֹךְ שְׁא֖וֹל אֶת־עֹֽזְרָ֑יו יָֽרְד֛וּ שָׁכְב֥וּ הָעֲרֵלִ֖ים חַלְלֵי־חָֽרֶב׃
  
  22 שָׁ֤ם אַשּׁוּר֙ וְכָל־קְהָלָ֔הּ סְבִֽיבוֹתָ֖יו קִבְרֹתָ֑יו כֻּלָּ֣ם חֲלָלִ֔ים הַנֹּפְלִ֖ים בֶּחָֽרֶב׃
  
  23 אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִתְּנ֤וּ קִבְרֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ בְּיַרְכְּתֵי־ב֔וֹר וַיְהִ֣י קְהָלָ֔הּ סְבִיב֖וֹת קְבֻרָתָ֑הּ כֻּלָּ֤ם חֲלָלִים֙ נֹפְלִ֣ים בַּחֶ֔רֶב אֲשֶׁר־נָתְנ֥וּ חִתִּ֖ית בְּאֶ֥רֶץ חַיִּֽים׃
  
  24 שָׁ֤ם עֵילָם֙ וְכָל־הֲמוֹנָ֔הּ סְבִיב֖וֹת קְבֻרָתָ֑הּ כֻּלָּ֣ם חֲלָלִים֩ הַנֹּפְלִ֨ים בַּחֶ֜רֶב אֲ‍ֽשֶׁר־יָרְד֥וּ עֲרֵלִ֣ים ׀ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ תַּחְתִּיּ֗וֹת אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתְנ֤וּ חִתִּיתָם֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ חַיִּ֔ים וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ כְלִמָּתָ֖ם אֶת־י֥וֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃
  
  25 בְּת֣וֹךְ חֲ֠לָלִים נָתְנ֨וּ מִשְׁכָּ֥ב לָהּ֙ בְּכָל־הֲמוֹנָ֔הּ סְבִֽיבוֹתָ֖יו קִבְרֹתֶ֑הָ כֻּלָּ֣ם עֲרֵלִ֣ים חַלְלֵי־חֶ֡רֶב כִּֽי־נִתַּ֨ן חִתִּיתָ֜ם בְּאֶ֣רֶץ חַיִּ֗ים וַיִּשְׂא֤וּ כְלִמָּתָם֙ אֶת־י֣וֹרְדֵי ב֔וֹר בְּת֥וֹךְ חֲלָלִ֖ים נִתָּֽן׃
  
  26 שָׁ֣ם מֶ֤שֶׁךְ תֻּבַל֙ וְכָל־הֲמוֹנָ֔הּ סְבִֽיבוֹתָ֖יו קִבְרוֹתֶ֑יהָ כֻּלָּ֤ם עֲרֵלִים֙ מְחֻ֣לְלֵי חֶ֔רֶב כִּֽי־נָתְנ֥וּ חִתִּיתָ֖ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ חַיִּֽים׃
  
  27 וְלֹ֤א יִשְׁכְּבוּ֙ אֶת־גִּבּוֹרִ֔ים נֹפְלִ֖ים מֵעֲרֵלִ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָרְדֽוּ־שְׁא֣וֹל בִּכְלֵֽי־מִלְחַמְתָּם֩ וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ אֶת־חַרְבוֹתָ֜ם תַּ֣חַת רָאשֵׁיהֶ֗ם וַתְּהִ֤י עֲוֺֽנֹתָם֙ עַל־עַצְמוֹתָ֔ם כִּֽי־חִתִּ֥ית גִּבּוֹרִ֖ים בְּאֶ֥רֶץ חַיִּֽים׃
  
  28 וְאַתָּ֗ה בְּת֧וֹךְ עֲרֵלִ֛ים תִּשָּׁבַ֥ר וְתִשְׁכַּ֖ב אֶת־חַלְלֵי־חָֽרֶב׃
  
  29 שָׁ֣מָּה אֱד֗וֹם מְלָכֶ֙יהָ֙ וְכָל־נְשִׂיאֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁר־נִתְּנ֥וּ בִגְבוּרָתָ֖ם אֶת־חַלְלֵי־חָ֑רֶב הֵ֛מָּה אֶת־עֲרֵלִ֥ים יִשְׁכָּ֖בוּ וְאֶת־יֹ֥רְדֵי בֽוֹר׃
  
  30 שָׁ֣מָּה נְסִיכֵ֥י צָפ֛וֹן כֻּלָּ֖ם וְכָל־צִֽדֹנִ֑י אֲשֶׁר־יָרְד֣וּ אֶת־חֲלָלִ֗ים בְּחִתִּיתָ֤ם מִגְבֽוּרָתָם֙ בּוֹשִׁ֔ים וַיִּשְׁכְּב֤וּ עֲרֵלִים֙ אֶת־חַלְלֵי־חֶ֔רֶב וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ כְלִמָּתָ֖ם אֶת־י֥וֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃
  
  31 אוֹתָם֙ יִרְאֶ֣ה פַרְעֹ֔ה וְנִחַ֖ם עַל־כָּל־*המונה **הֲמוֹנ֑וֹ חַלְלֵי־חֶ֙רֶב֙ פַּרְעֹ֣ה וְכָל־חֵיל֔וֹ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃

  1 τῇ ἐλευθερίᾳ ἡμᾶς Χριστὸς ἠλευθέρωσεν· στήκετε οὖν καὶ μὴ πάλιν ζυγῷ δουλείας ἐνέχεσθε.
  
  2 Ἴδε ἐγὼ Παῦλος λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν περιτέμνησθε Χριστὸς ὑμᾶς οὐδὲν ὠφελήσει.
  
  3 μαρτύρομαι δὲ πάλιν παντὶ ἀνθρώπῳ περιτεμνομένῳ ὅτι ὀφειλέτης ἐστὶν ὅλον τὸν νόμον ποιῆσαι.
  
  4 κατηργήθητε ἀπὸ Χριστοῦ οἵτινες ἐν νόμῳ δικαιοῦσθε, τῆς χάριτος ἐξεπέσατε.
  
  5 ἡμεῖς γὰρ πνεύματι ἐκ πίστεως ἐλπίδα δικαιοσύνης ἀπεκδεχόμεθα.
  
  6 ἐν γὰρ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ οὔτε περιτομή τι ἰσχύει οὔτε ἀκροβυστία, ἀλλὰ πίστις δι’ ἀγάπης ἐνεργουμένη.
  
  7 Ἐτρέχετε καλῶς· τίς ὑμᾶς ἐνέκοψεν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ μὴ πείθεσθαι;
  
  8 ἡ πεισμονὴ οὐκ ἐκ τοῦ καλοῦντος ὑμᾶς.
  
  9 μικρὰ ζύμη ὅλον τὸ φύραμα ζυμοῖ.
  
  10 ἐγὼ πέποιθα εἰς ὑμᾶς ἐν κυρίῳ ὅτι οὐδὲν ἄλλο φρονήσετε· ὁ δὲ ταράσσων ὑμᾶς βαστάσει τὸ κρίμα, ὅστις ἐὰν ᾖ.
  
  11 ἐγὼ δέ, ἀδελφοί, εἰ περιτομὴν ἔτι κηρύσσω, τί ἔτι διώκομαι; ἄρα κατήργηται τὸ σκάνδαλον τοῦ σταυροῦ.
  
  12 ὄφελον καὶ ἀποκόψονται οἱ ἀναστατοῦντες ὑμᾶς.
  
  13 Ὑμεῖς γὰρ ἐπ’ ἐλευθερίᾳ ἐκλήθητε, ἀδελφοί· μόνον μὴ τὴν ἐλευθερίαν εἰς ἀφορμὴν τῇ σαρκί, ἀλλὰ διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης δουλεύετε ἀλλήλοις·
  
  14 ὁ γὰρ πᾶς νόμος ἐν ἑνὶ λόγῳ πεπλήρωται, ἐν τῷ· Ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν.
  
  15 εἰ δὲ ἀλλήλους δάκνετε καὶ κατεσθίετε, βλέπετε μὴ ὑπ’ ἀλλήλων ἀναλωθῆτε.
  
  16 Λέγω δέ, πνεύματι περιπατεῖτε καὶ ἐπιθυμίαν σαρκὸς οὐ μὴ τελέσητε.
  
  17 ἡ γὰρ σὰρξ ἐπιθυμεῖ κατὰ τοῦ πνεύματος, τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα κατὰ τῆς σαρκός, ταῦτα γὰρ ἀλλήλοις ἀντίκειται, ἵνα μὴ ἃ ἐὰν θέλητε ταῦτα ποιῆτε.
  
  18 εἰ δὲ πνεύματι ἄγεσθε, οὐκ ἐστὲ ὑπὸ νόμον.
  
  19 φανερὰ δέ ἐστιν τὰ ἔργα τῆς σαρκός, ἅτινά ἐστιν πορνεία, ἀκαθαρσία, ἀσέλγεια,
  
  20 εἰδωλολατρία, φαρμακεία, ἔχθραι, ἔρις, ζῆλος, θυμοί, ἐριθεῖαι, διχοστασίαι, αἱρέσεις,
  
  21 φθόνοι, μέθαι, κῶμοι, καὶ τὰ ὅμοια τούτοις, ἃ προλέγω ὑμῖν καθὼς προεῖπον ὅτι οἱ τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντες βασιλείαν θεοῦ οὐ κληρονομήσουσιν.
  
  22 Ὁ δὲ καρπὸς τοῦ πνεύματός ἐστιν ἀγάπη, χαρά, εἰρήνη, μακροθυμία, χρηστότης, ἀγαθωσύνη, πίστις,
  
  23 πραΰτης, ἐγκράτεια· κατὰ τῶν τοιούτων οὐκ ἔστιν νόμος.
  
  24 οἱ δὲ τοῦ Χριστοῦ τὴν σάρκα ἐσταύρωσαν σὺν τοῖς παθήμασιν καὶ ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις.
  
  25 εἰ ζῶμεν πνεύματι, πνεύματι καὶ στοιχῶμεν.
  
  26 μὴ γινώμεθα κενόδοξοι, ἀλλήλους προκαλούμενοι, ἀλλήλοις φθονοῦντες.
