- 1 Rois 19
  
  1 Et Achab raconta à Jézabel tout ce qu'Élie avait fait, et, en détail, comment il avait tué par l'épée tous les prophètes.
  
  2 Et Jézabel envoya un messager à Élie, disant : Ainsi me fassent les dieux, et ainsi ils y ajoutent, si demain, à cette heure, je ne mets ton âme comme l'âme de l'un d'eux !
  
  3 Et voyant cela, il se leva, et s'en alla pour sa vie, et vint à Beër-Shéba, qui appartient à Juda, et il y laissa son jeune homme.
  
  4 Et il s'en alla, lui, dans le désert, le chemin d'un jour, et vint et s'assit sous un genêt ; et il demanda la mort pour son âme, et dit : C'est assez ! maintenant, Éternel, prends mon âme, car je ne suis pas meilleur que mes pères.
  
  5 Et il se coucha, et dormit sous le genêt. Et voici, un ange le toucha, et lui dit : Lève-toi, mange.
  
  6 Et il regarda, et voici à son chevet, un gâteau cuit sur les pierres chaudes, et une cruche d'eau ; et il mangea et but, et se recoucha.
  
  7 Et l'ange de l'Éternel revint une seconde fois, et le toucha, et dit : Lève-toi, mange, car le chemin est trop long pour toi.
  
  8 Et il se leva, et mangea et but ; et il alla, avec la force de ces aliments, quarante jours et quarante nuits, jusqu'à Horeb, la montagne de Dieu.
  
  9 Et là, il entra dans la caverne, et y passa la nuit. Et voici, la parole de l'Éternel vint à lui et lui dit : Que fais-tu ici, Élie ?
  
  10 Et il dit : J'ai été très-jaloux pour l'Éternel, le Dieu des armées ; car les fils d'Israël ont abandonné ton alliance, ils ont renversé tes autels et ils ont tué tes prophètes par l'épée, et je suis resté, moi seul, et ils cherchent ma vie pour me l'ôter.
  
  11 Et il dit : Sors, et tiens-toi sur la montagne devant l'Éternel. Et voici, l'Éternel passa, et devant l'Éternel un grand vent impétueux déchirait les montagnes et brisait les rochers : l'Éternel n'était pas dans le vent. Et après le vent, un tremblement de terre : l'Éternel n'était pas dans le tremblement de terre.
  
  12 Et après le tremblement de terre, du feu : l'Éternel n'était pas dans le feu. Et après le feu, une voix douce, subtile.
  
  13 Et il arriva, quand Élie l'entendit, qu'il enveloppa son visage dans son manteau, et sortit et se tint à l'entrée de la caverne. Et voici, une voix lui parla, et dit : Que fais-tu ici, Élie ?
  
  14 Et il dit : J'ai été très-jaloux pour l'Éternel, le Dieu des armées ; car les fils d'Israël ont abandonné ton alliance, ils ont renversé tes autels et ils ont tué tes prophètes par l'épée, et je suis resté, moi seul, et ils cherchent ma vie pour me l'ôter.
  
  15 Et l'Éternel lui dit : Va, retourne par ton chemin, vers le désert de Damas, et quand tu seras arrivé, tu oindras Hazaël pour qu'il soit roi sur la Syrie ;
  
  16 et Jéhu, fils de Nimshi, tu l'oindras pour qu'il soit roi sur Israël, et tu oindras Élisée, fils de Shaphath, d'Abel-Mehola, pour qu'il soit prophète à ta place.
  
  17 Et il arrivera que celui qui échappera à l'épée de Hazaël, Jéhu le fera mourir ; et celui qui échappera à l'épée de Jéhu, Élisée le fera mourir.
  
  18 Mais je me suis réservé en Israël sept mille hommes, tous les genoux qui n'ont pas fléchi devant Baal, et toutes les bouches qui ne l'ont pas baisé.
  
  19 Et il s'en alla de là, et trouva Élisée, fils de Shaphath ; et il labourait avec douze paires de boeufs devant lui, et lui était avec la douzième. Et Élie passa vers lui et jeta son manteau sur lui.
  
  20 Et il abandonna les boeufs, et courut après Élie, et dit : Que je baise, je te prie, mon père et ma mère, et je m'en irai après toi. Et il lui dit : Va, retourne ; car que t'ai-je fait ?
  
  21 Et il s'en retourna d'auprès de lui, et prit la paire de boeufs, et en fit un sacrifice ; et, avec le harnachement des boeufs, il fit cuire leur chair et la donna au peuple, et ils mangèrent ; et il se leva et s'en alla après Élie ; et il le servait.
  
  Daniel 1
  
  1 La troisième année du règne de Jehoïakim, roi de Juda, Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, vint àààà Jérusalem et l'assiégea ;
  
  2 et le Seigneur livra en sa main Jehoïakim, roi de Juda, et une partie des ustensiles de la maison de Dieu, et il les fit apporter dans le pays de Shinhar, dans la maison de son dieu : il fit porter les ustensiles dans la maison du trésor de son dieu.
  
  3 Et le roi dit ààà Ashpenaz, chef de ses eunuques, d'amener d'entre les fils d'Israël, et de la semence royale et d'entre les nobles,
  
  4 des jeunes gens en qui il n'y eût aucun défaut, et beaux de visage, et instruits en toute sagesse, et possédant des connaissances, et entendus en science, et qui fussent capables de se tenir dans le palais du roi, -et de leur enseigner les lettres et la langue des Chaldéens.
  
  5 Et le roi leur assigna, pour chaque jour, une portion fixe des mets délicats du roi et du vin qu'il buvait, pour les élever pendant trois ans, à la fin desquels ils se tiendraient devant le roi.
  
  6 Et parmi eux il y avait, d'entre les fils de Juda, Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël, et Azaria ;
  
  7 et le prince des eunuques leur donna des noms : à Daniel il donna le nom de Belteshatsar, et à Hanania celui de Shadrac, et à Mishaël celui de Méshac, et à Azaria celui d'Abed-Nego.
  
  8 Et Daniel arrêta dans son coeur qu'il ne se souillerait point par les mets délicats du roi et par le vin qu'il buvait ; et il demanda au prince des eunuques de lui permettre de ne pas se souiller.
  
  9 Et Dieu fit trouver à Daniel faveur et grâce auprès du prince des eunuques.
  
  10 Et le prince des eunuques dit à Daniel : Je crains le roi mon seigneur, qui a prescrit votre nourriture et votre boisson ; car pourquoi verrait-il vos visages plus tristes que ceux des jeunes gens de votre âge ? Et vous exposeriez ma tête auprès du roi.
  
  11 Et Daniel dit à l'intendant que le prince des eunuques avait établi sur Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria :
  
  12 Éprouve, je te prie, tes serviteurs dix jours, et qu'on nous donne des légumes à manger, et de l'eau à boire ;
  
  13 et on regardera, en ta présence, nos visages et le visage des jeunes gens qui mangent les mets délicats du roi ; et tu agiras avec tes serviteurs d'après ce que tu verras.
  
  14 Et il les écoutera dans cette affaire, et les mit à l'épreuve, dix jours ;
  
  15 et, au bout de dix jours, leurs visages avaient meilleure apparence et étaient plus gras que ceux de tous les jeunes gens qui mangeaient les mets délicats du roi.
  
  16 Alors l'intendant ôta leurs mets délicats et le vin de leur boisson, et leur donna des légumes.
  
  17 Et à ces jeunes gens, aux quatre, Dieu donna de la science et de l'instruction dans toutes les lettres et dans toute la sagesse ; et Daniel avait de l'intelligence en toute vision et dans les songes.
  
  18 Et, à la fin des jours où le roi avait dit de les amener, le prince des eunuques les amena devant Nebucadnetsar ;
  
  19 et le roi parla avec eux, et entre eux tous il n'en fut trouvé aucun comme Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria ; et ils se tinrent devant le roi.
  
  20 Et dans toutes les choses qui réclamaient de la sagesse et de l'intelligence, au sujet desquelles le roi les interrogea, il les trouva dix fois supérieurs à tous les devins et enchanteurs qui étaient dans tout son royaume.
  
  21 Et Daniel fut là jusqu'à la première année du roi Cyrus.
  
  1 Thessaloniciens 2
  
  1 Car vous-mêmes vous savez, frères, que notre entrée au milieu de vous n'a pas été vaine ;
  
  2 mais, après avoir auparavant souffert et avoir été outragés à Philippes, comme vous le savez, nous avons eu toute hardiesse en notre Dieu pour vous annoncer l'évangile de Dieu avec beaucoup de combats.
  
  3 Car notre exhortation n'a eu pour principe ni séduction, ni impureté, et nous n'y avons pas usé de ruse ;
  
  4 mais comme nous avons été approuvés de Dieu pour que l'évangile nous fût confié, nous parlons ainsi, non comme plaisant aux hommes, mais à Dieu qui éprouve nos coeurs.
  
  5 Car aussi nous n'avons jamais usé de parole de flatterie, comme vous le savez, ni de prétexte de cupidité, Dieu en est témoin ;
  
  6 et nous n'avons pas cherché la gloire qui vient des hommes, ni de votre part, ni de la part des autres, quand nous aurions pu vous être à charge comme apôtres de Christ ;
  
  7 mais nous avons été doux au milieu de vous. Comme une nourrice chérit ses propres enfants,
  
  8 ainsi, vous étant tendrement affectionnés, nous aurions été tout disposés à vous communiquer non seulement l'évangile de Dieu, mais aussi nos propres vies, parce que vous nous étiez devenus fort chers.
  
  9 Car vous vous souvenez, frères, de notre peine et de notre labeur ; c'est en travaillant nuit et jour pour n'être à charge à aucun de vous, que nous vous avons prêché l'évangile de Dieu.
  
  10 Vous-mêmes, vous êtes témoins, et Dieu aussi, combien nous nous sommes conduits saintement, et justement, et irréprochablement envers vous qui croyez,
  
  11 que vous savez comment nous avons exhorté chacun de vous, comme un père ses propres enfants, vous exhortant, et vous consolant, et rendant témoignage,
  
  12 que vous marchiez d'une manière digne de Dieu qui vous appelle à son propre royaume et à sa propre gloire.
  
  13 Et c'est pourquoi aussi nous, nous rendons sans cesse grâces à Dieu de ce que, ayant reçu de nous la parole de la prédication qui est de Dieu, vous avez accepté, non la parole des hommes, mais (ainsi qu'elle l'est véritablement) la parole de Dieu, laquelle aussi opère en vous qui croyez.
  
  14 Car vous, frères, vous êtes devenus les imitateurs des assemblées de Dieu qui sont dans la Judée dans le Christ Jésus ; car vous aussi, vous avez souffert de la part de vos propres compatriotes les mêmes choses qu'elles aussi ont souffertes de la part des Juifs,
  
  15 qui ont mis à mort et le Seigneur Jésus et les prophètes, et qui nous ont chassés par la persécution, et qui ne plaisent pas à Dieu, et qui sont opposés à tous les hommes,
  
  16 -nous empêchant de parler aux nations afin qu'elles soient sauvées, pour combler toujours la mesure de leurs péchés ; mais la colère est venue sur eux au dernier terme.
  
  17 Or pour nous, frères, ayant été séparés de vous pour un temps, de visage et non de coeur, nous avons d'autant plus, avec un fort grand désir, cherché à voir votre visage ;
  
  18 c'est pourquoi nous avons voulu aller vers vous, moi Paul, et une fois et deux fois, et Satan nous en a empêchés.
  
  19 Car quelle est notre espérance, ou notre joie, ou la couronne dont nous nous glorifions ? N'est-ce pas bien vous devant notre Seigneur Jésus, à sa venue ?
  
  20 Car vous, vous êtes notre gloire et notre joie.

  1 Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
  
  2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I don't make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time!"
  
  3 When he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
  
  4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough. Now, O Yahweh, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers."
  
  5 He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, an angel touched him, and said to him, "Arise and eat!"
  
  6 He looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again.
  
  7 The angel of Yahweh came again the second time, and touched him, and said, "Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you."
  
  8 He arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the Mount of God.
  
  9 He came there to a cave, and lodged there; and behold, the word of Yahweh came to him, and he said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
  
  10 He said, "I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."
  
  11 He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before Yahweh." Behold, Yahweh passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before Yahweh; but Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind an earthquake; but Yahweh was not in the earthquake.
  
  12 After the earthquake a fire passed; but Yahweh was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
  
  13 It was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. Behold, a voice came to him, and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
  
  14 He said, "I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."
  
  15 Yahweh said to him, "Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.
  
  16 You shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel; and you shall anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah to be prophet in your place.
  
  17 It shall happen, that he who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and he who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.
  
  18 Yet will I leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed him."
  
  19 So he departed there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing, with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed over to him, and cast his mantle on him.
  
  20 He left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, "Let me please kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you." He said to him, "Go back again; for what have I done to you?"
  
  21 He returned from following him, and took the yoke of oxen, and killed them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and served him.
  
  Daniel 1
  
  1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and besieged it.
  
  2 The Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God ; and he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god: and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
  
  3 The king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in [certain] of the children of Israel, even of the seed royal and of the nobles;
  
  4 youths in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and endowed with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability to stand in the king's palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.
  
  5 The king appointed for them a daily portion of the king's dainties, and of the wine which he drank, and that they should be nourished three years; that at its end they should stand before the king.
  
  6 Now among these were, of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
  
  7 The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave [the name of] Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, [of] Shadrach; and to Mishael, [of] Meshach; and to Azariah, [of] Abednego.
  
  8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
  
  9 Now God made Daniel to find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.
  
  10 The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? so would you endanger my head with the king.
  
  11 Then Daniel said to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
  
  12 Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink.
  
  13 Then let our faces be looked on before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king's dainties; and as you see, deal with your servants.
  
  14 So he listened to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
  
  15 At the end of ten days their faces appeared fairer, and they were fatter in flesh, than all the youths who ate of the king's dainties.
  
  16 So the steward took away their dainties, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them pulse.
  
  17 Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
  
  18 At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
  
  19 The king talked with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
  
  20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.
  
  21 Daniel continued even to the first year of king Cyrus.

  1 For you yourselves know, brothers, our visit to you wasn't in vain,
  
  2 but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as you know, at Philippi, we grew bold in our God to tell you the Good News of God in much conflict.
  
  3 For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in deception.
  
  4 But even as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts.
  
  5 For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness (God is witness),
  
  6 nor seeking glory from men (neither from you nor from others), when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.
  
  7 But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother cherishes her own children.
  
  8 Even so, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you, not the Good News of God only, but also our own souls, because you had become very dear to us.
  
  9 For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail; for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the Good News of God.
  
  10 You are witnesses with God, how holy, righteously, and blamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you who believe.
  
  11 As you know, we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you, as a father does his own children,
  
  12 to the end that you should walk worthily of God, who calls you into his own Kingdom and glory.
  
  13 For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.
  
  14 For you, brothers, became imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus; for you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews;
  
  15 who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove us out, and didn't please God, and are contrary to all men;
  
  16 forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost.
  
  17 But we, brothers, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence, not in heart, tried even harder to see your face with great desire,
  
  18 because we wanted to come to you--indeed, I, Paul, once and again--but Satan hindered us.
  
  19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Isn't it even you, before our Lord Jesus at his coming?
  
  20 For you are our glory and our joy.

  1 וַיַּגֵּ֤ד אַחְאָב֙ לְאִיזֶ֔בֶל אֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה אֵלִיָּ֑הוּ וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָרַ֛ג אֶת־כָּל־הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים בֶּחָֽרֶב׃
  
  2 וַתִּשְׁלַ֤ח אִיזֶ֙בֶל֙ מַלְאָ֔ךְ אֶל־אֵלִיָּ֖הוּ לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּֽה־יַעֲשׂ֤וּן אֱלֹהִים֙ וְכֹ֣ה יוֹסִפ֔וּן כִּֽי־כָעֵ֤ת מָחָר֙ אָשִׂ֣ים אֶֽת־נַפְשְׁךָ֔ כְּנֶ֖פֶשׁ אַחַ֥ד מֵהֶֽם׃
  
  3 וַיַּ֗רְא וַיָּ֙קָם֙ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ אֶל־נַפְשׁ֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֕א בְּאֵ֥ר שֶׁ֖בַע אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה וַיַּנַּ֥ח אֶֽת־נַעֲר֖וֹ שָֽׁם׃
  
  4 וְהֽוּא־הָלַ֤ךְ בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ י֔וֹם וַיָּבֹ֕א וַיֵּ֕שֶׁב תַּ֖חַת רֹ֣תֶם *אחת **אֶחָ֑ד וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל אֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ֙ לָמ֔וּת וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ רַ֗ב עַתָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ קַ֣ח נַפְשִׁ֔י כִּֽי־לֹא־ט֥וֹב אָנֹכִ֖י מֵאֲבֹתָֽי׃
  
  5 וַיִּשְׁכַּב֙ וַיִּישַׁ֔ן תַּ֖חַת רֹ֣תֶם אֶחָ֑ד וְהִנֵּֽה־זֶ֤ה מַלְאָךְ֙ נֹגֵ֣עַ בּ֔וֹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹ ק֥וּם אֱכֽוֹל׃
  
  6 וַיַּבֵּ֕ט וְהִנֵּ֧ה מְרַאֲשֹׁתָ֛יו עֻגַ֥ת רְצָפִ֖ים וְצַפַּ֣חַת מָ֑יִם וַיֹּ֣אכַל וַיֵּ֔שְׁתְּ וַיָּ֖שָׁב וַיִּשְׁכָּֽב׃
  
  7 וַיָּשָׁב֩ מַלְאַ֨ךְ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ שֵׁנִית֙ וַיִּגַּע־בּ֔וֹ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר ק֣וּם אֱכֹ֑ל כִּ֛י רַ֥ב מִמְּךָ֖ הַדָּֽרֶךְ׃
  
  8 וַיָּ֖קָם וַיֹּ֣אכַל וַיִּשְׁתֶּ֑ה וַיֵּ֜לֶךְ בְּכֹ֣חַ ׀ הָאֲכִילָ֣ה הַהִ֗יא אַרְבָּעִ֥ים יוֹם֙ וְאַרְבָּעִ֣ים לַ֔יְלָה עַ֛ד הַ֥ר הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים חֹרֵֽב׃
  
  9 וַיָּבֹא־שָׁ֥ם אֶל־הַמְּעָרָ֖ה וַיָּ֣לֶן שָׁ֑ם וְהִנֵּ֤ה דְבַר־יְהוָה֙ אֵלָ֔יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ מַה־לְּךָ֥ פֹ֖ה אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃
  
  10 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ קַנֹּ֨א קִנֵּ֜אתִי לַיהוָ֣ה ׀ אֱלֹהֵ֣י צְבָא֗וֹת כִּֽי־עָזְב֤וּ בְרִֽיתְךָ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶת־מִזְבְּחֹתֶ֣יךָ הָרָ֔סוּ וְאֶת־נְבִיאֶ֖יךָ הָרְג֣וּ בֶחָ֑רֶב וָֽאִוָּתֵ֤ר אֲנִי֙ לְבַדִּ֔י וַיְבַקְשׁ֥וּ אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֖י לְקַחְתָּֽהּ׃
  
  11 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר צֵ֣א וְעָמַדְתָּ֣ בָהָר֮ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָה֒ וְהִנֵּ֧ה יְהוָ֣ה עֹבֵ֗ר וְר֣וּחַ גְּדוֹלָ֡ה וְחָזָ֞ק מְפָרֵק֩ הָרִ֨ים וּמְשַׁבֵּ֤ר סְלָעִים֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לֹ֥א בָר֖וּחַ יְהוָ֑ה וְאַחַ֤ר הָר֨וּחַ רַ֔עַשׁ לֹ֥א בָרַ֖עַשׁ יְהוָֽה׃
  
  12 וְאַחַ֤ר הָרַ֙עַשׁ֙ אֵ֔שׁ לֹ֥א בָאֵ֖שׁ יְהוָ֑ה וְאַחַ֣ר הָאֵ֔שׁ ק֖וֹל דְּמָמָ֥ה דַקָּֽה׃
  
  13 וַיְהִ֣י ׀ כִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ אֵלִיָּ֗הוּ וַיָּ֤לֶט פָּנָיו֙ בְּאַדַּרְתּ֔וֹ וַיֵּצֵ֕א וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד פֶּ֣תַח הַמְּעָרָ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ ק֔וֹל וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מַה־לְּךָ֥ פֹ֖ה אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃

  15 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלָ֔יו לֵ֛ךְ שׁ֥וּב לְדַרְכְּךָ֖ מִדְבַּ֣רָה דַמָּ֑שֶׂק וּבָ֗אתָ וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֧ אֶת־חֲזָאֵ֛ל לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־אֲרָֽם׃
  
  16 וְאֵת֙ יֵה֣וּא בֶן־נִמְשִׁ֔י תִּמְשַׁ֥ח לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְאֶת־אֱלִישָׁ֤ע בֶּן־שָׁפָט֙ מֵאָבֵ֣ל מְחוֹלָ֔ה תִּמְשַׁ֥ח לְנָבִ֖יא תַּחְתֶּֽיךָ׃
  
  17 וְהָיָ֗ה הַנִּמְלָ֛ט מֵחֶ֥רֶב חֲזָאֵ֖ל יָמִ֣ית יֵה֑וּא וְהַנִּמְלָ֛ט מֵחֶ֥רֶב יֵה֖וּא יָמִ֥ית אֱלִישָֽׁע׃
  
  18 וְהִשְׁאַרְתִּ֥י בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שִׁבְעַ֣ת אֲלָפִ֑ים כָּל־הַבִּרְכַּ֗יִם אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־כָֽרְעוּ֙ לַבַּ֔עַל וְכָ֨ל־הַפֶּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־נָשַׁ֖ק לֽוֹ׃
  
  19 וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ מִ֠שָּׁם וַיִּמְצָ֞א אֶת־אֱלִישָׁ֤ע בֶּן־שָׁפָט֙ וְה֣וּא חֹרֵ֔שׁ שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֤ר צְמָדִים֙ לְפָנָ֔יו וְה֖וּא בִּשְׁנֵ֣ים הֶעָשָׂ֑ר וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר אֵלִיָּ֙הוּ֙ אֵלָ֔יו וַיַּשְׁלֵ֥ךְ אַדַּרְתּ֖וֹ אֵלָֽיו׃
  
  20 וַיַּעֲזֹ֣ב אֶת־הַבָּקָ֗ר וַיָּ֙רָץ֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י אֵֽלִיָּ֔הוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֶשְּׁקָה־נָּא֙ לְאָבִ֣י וּלְאִמִּ֔י וְאֵלְכָ֖ה אַחֲרֶ֑יךָ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ לֵ֣ךְ שׁ֔וּב כִּ֥י מֶה־עָשִׂ֖יתִי לָֽךְ׃
  
  21 וַיָּ֨שָׁב מֵאַחֲרָ֜יו וַיִּקַּ֣ח אֶת־צֶ֧מֶד הַבָּקָ֣ר וַיִּזְבָּחֵ֗הוּ וּבִכְלִ֤י הַבָּקָר֙ בִּשְּׁלָ֣ם הַבָּשָׂ֔ר וַיִּתֵּ֥ן לָעָ֖ם וַיֹּאכֵ֑לוּ וַיָּ֗קָם וַיֵּ֛לֶךְ אַחֲרֵ֥י אֵלִיָּ֖הוּ וַיְשָׁרְתֵֽהוּ׃

  1 בִּשְׁנַ֣ת שָׁל֔וֹשׁ לְמַלְכ֖וּת יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֑ה בָּ֣א נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּ֧ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֛ל יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם וַיָּ֥צַר עָלֶֽיהָ׃
  
  2 וַיִּתֵּן֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י בְּיָד֜וֹ אֶת־יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֗ה וּמִקְצָת֙ כְּלֵ֣י בֵית־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיְבִיאֵ֥ם אֶֽרֶץ־שִׁנְעָ֖ר בֵּ֣ית אֱלֹהָ֑יו וְאֶת־הַכֵּלִ֣ים הֵבִ֔יא בֵּ֖ית אוֹצַ֥ר אֱלֹהָֽיו׃
  
  3 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לְאַשְׁפְּנַ֖ז רַ֣ב סָרִיסָ֑יו לְהָבִ֞יא מִבְּנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל וּמִזֶּ֥רַע הַמְּלוּכָ֖ה וּמִן־הַֽפַּרְתְּמִֽים׃
  
  4 יְלָדִ֣ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֵֽין־בָּהֶ֣ם כָּל־*מאום **מוּם֩ וְטוֹבֵ֨י מַרְאֶ֜ה וּמַשְׂכִּילִ֣ים בְּכָל־חָכְמָ֗ה וְיֹ֤דְעֵי דַ֙עַת֙ וּמְבִינֵ֣י מַדָּ֔ע וַאֲשֶׁר֙ כֹּ֣חַ בָּהֶ֔ם לַעֲמֹ֖ד בְּהֵיכַ֣ל הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וּֽלֲלַמְּדָ֥ם סֵ֖פֶר וּלְשׁ֥וֹן כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃
  
  5 וַיְמַן֩ לָהֶ֨ם הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ דְּבַר־י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֗וֹ מִפַּת־בַּ֤ג הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וּמִיֵּ֣ין מִשְׁתָּ֔יו וּֽלְגַדְּלָ֖ם שָׁנִ֣ים שָׁל֑וֹשׁ וּמִ֨קְצָתָ֔ם יַֽעַמְד֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  6 וַיְהִ֥י בָהֶ֖ם מִבְּנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה דָּנִיֵּ֣אל חֲנַנְיָ֔ה מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃
  
  7 וַיָּ֧שֶׂם לָהֶ֛ם שַׂ֥ר הַסָּרִיסִ֖ים שֵׁמ֑וֹת וַיָּ֨שֶׂם לְדָֽנִיֵּ֜אל בֵּ֣לְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר וְלַֽחֲנַנְיָה֙ שַׁדְרַ֔ךְ וּלְמִֽישָׁאֵ֣ל מֵישַׁ֔ךְ וְלַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה עֲבֵ֥ד נְגֽוֹ׃
  
  8 וַיָּ֤שֶׂם דָּנִיֵּאל֙ עַל־לִבּ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא־יִתְגָּאַ֛ל בְּפַתְבַּ֥ג הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וּבְיֵ֣ין מִשְׁתָּ֑יו וַיְבַקֵּשׁ֙ מִשַּׂ֣ר הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א יִתְגָּאָֽל׃
  
  9 וַיִּתֵּ֤ן הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־דָּ֣נִיֵּ֔אל לְחֶ֖סֶד וּֽלְרַחֲמִ֑ים לִפְנֵ֖י שַׂ֥ר הַסָּרִיסִֽים׃
  
  10 וַיֹּ֜אמֶר שַׂ֤ר הַסָּרִיסִים֙ לְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל יָרֵ֤א אֲנִי֙ אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מִנָּ֔ה אֶת־מַאֲכַלְכֶ֖ם וְאֶת־מִשְׁתֵּיכֶ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֡ר לָמָּה֩ יִרְאֶ֨ה אֶת־פְּנֵיכֶ֜ם זֹֽעֲפִ֗ים מִן־הַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כְּגִֽילְכֶ֔ם וְחִיַּבְתֶּ֥ם אֶת־רֹאשִׁ֖י לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  11 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר דָּנִיֵּ֖אל אֶל־הַמֶּלְצַ֑ר אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִנָּה֙ שַׂ֣ר הַסָּֽרִיסִ֔ים עַל־דָּנִיֵּ֣אל חֲנַנְיָ֔ה מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃
  
  12 נַס־נָ֥א אֶת־עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ יָמִ֣ים עֲשָׂרָ֑ה וְיִתְּנוּ־לָ֜נוּ מִן־הַזֵּרֹעִ֛ים וְנֹאכְלָ֖ה וּמַ֥יִם וְנִשְׁתֶּֽה׃
  
  13 וְיֵרָא֤וּ לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ מַרְאֵ֔ינוּ וּמַרְאֵה֙ הַיְלָדִ֔ים הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים אֵ֖ת פַּתְבַּ֣ג הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְכַאֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּרְאֵ֔ה עֲשֵׂ֖ה עִם־עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃
  
  14 וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע לָהֶ֖ם לַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וַיְנַסֵּ֖ם יָמִ֥ים עֲשָׂרָֽה׃
  
  15 וּמִקְצָת֙ יָמִ֣ים עֲשָׂרָ֔ה נִרְאָ֤ה מַרְאֵיהֶם֙ ט֔וֹב וּבְרִיאֵ֖י בָּשָׂ֑ר מִן־כָּל־הַיְלָדִ֔ים הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים אֵ֖ת פַּתְבַּ֥ג הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  16 וַיְהִ֣י הַמֶּלְצַ֗ר נֹשֵׂא֙ אֶת־פַּתְבָּגָ֔ם וְיֵ֖ין מִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֑ם וְנֹתֵ֥ן לָהֶ֖ם זֵרְעֹנִֽים׃
  
  17 וְהַיְלָדִ֤ים הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ אַרְבַּעְתָּ֔ם נָתַ֨ן לָהֶ֧ם הָֽאֱלֹהִ֛ים מַדָּ֥ע וְהַשְׂכֵּ֖ל בְּכָל־סֵ֣פֶר וְחָכְמָ֑ה וְדָנִיֵּ֣אל הֵבִ֔ין בְּכָל־חָז֖וֹן וַחֲלֹמֽוֹת׃
  
  18 וּלְמִקְצָת֙ הַיָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־אָמַ֥ר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לַהֲבִיאָ֑ם וַיְבִיאֵם֙ שַׂ֣ר הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים לִפְנֵ֖י נְבֻכַדְנֶצַּֽר׃
  
  19 וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אִתָּם֮ הַמֶּלֶךְ֒ וְלֹ֤א נִמְצָא֙ מִכֻּלָּ֔ם כְּדָנִיֵּ֣אל חֲנַנְיָ֔ה מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל וַעֲזַרְיָ֑ה וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  20 וְכֹ֗ל דְּבַר֙ חָכְמַ֣ת בִּינָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־בִּקֵּ֥שׁ מֵהֶ֖ם הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַֽיִּמְצָאֵ֞ם עֶ֣שֶׂר יָד֗וֹת עַ֤ל כָּל־הַֽחַרְטֻמִּים֙ הָֽאַשָּׁפִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּכָל־מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃
  
  21 וַֽיְהִי֙ דָּֽנִיֵּ֔אל עַד־שְׁנַ֥ת אַחַ֖ת לְכ֥וֹרֶשׁ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

  1 Αὐτοὶ γὰρ οἴδατε, ἀδελφοί, τὴν εἴσοδον ἡμῶν τὴν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ὅτι οὐ κενὴ γέγονεν,
  
  2 ἀλλὰ προπαθόντες καὶ ὑβρισθέντες καθὼς οἴδατε ἐν Φιλίπποις ἐπαρρησιασάμεθα ἐν τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν λαλῆσαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν πολλῷ ἀγῶνι.
  
  3 ἡ γὰρ παράκλησις ἡμῶν οὐκ ἐκ πλάνης οὐδὲ ἐξ ἀκαθαρσίας οὐδὲ ἐν δόλῳ,
  
  4 ἀλλὰ καθὼς δεδοκιμάσμεθα ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ πιστευθῆναι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον οὕτως λαλοῦμεν, οὐχ ὡς ἀνθρώποις ἀρέσκοντες ἀλλὰ θεῷ τῷ δοκιμάζοντι τὰς καρδίας ἡμῶν.
  
  5 οὔτε γάρ ποτε ἐν λόγῳ κολακείας ἐγενήθημεν, καθὼς οἴδατε, οὔτε ἐν προφάσει πλεονεξίας, θεὸς μάρτυς,
  
  6 οὔτε ζητοῦντες ἐξ ἀνθρώπων δόξαν, οὔτε ἀφ’ ὑμῶν οὔτε ἀπ’ ἄλλων,
  
  7 δυνάμενοι ἐν βάρει εἶναι ὡς Χριστοῦ ἀπόστολοι· ἀλλὰ ἐγενήθημεν ἤπιοι ἐν μέσῳ ὑμῶν, ὡς ἐὰν τροφὸς θάλπῃ τὰ ἑαυτῆς τέκνα·
  
  8 οὕτως ὁμειρόμενοι ὑμῶν εὐδοκοῦμεν μεταδοῦναι ὑμῖν οὐ μόνον τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἀλλὰ καὶ τὰς ἑαυτῶν ψυχάς, διότι ἀγαπητοὶ ἡμῖν ἐγενήθητε.
  
  9 Μνημονεύετε γάρ, ἀδελφοί, τὸν κόπον ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν μόχθον· νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ἐργαζόμενοι πρὸς τὸ μὴ ἐπιβαρῆσαί τινα ὑμῶν ἐκηρύξαμεν εἰς ὑμᾶς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ θεοῦ.
  
  10 ὑμεῖς μάρτυρες καὶ ὁ θεός, ὡς ὁσίως καὶ δικαίως καὶ ἀμέμπτως ὑμῖν τοῖς πιστεύουσιν ἐγενήθημεν,
  
  11 καθάπερ οἴδατε ὡς ἕνα ἕκαστον ὑμῶν ὡς πατὴρ τέκνα ἑαυτοῦ
  
  12 παρακαλοῦντες ὑμᾶς καὶ παραμυθούμενοι καὶ μαρτυρόμενοι, εἰς τὸ περιπατεῖν ὑμᾶς ἀξίως τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ καλοῦντος ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ βασιλείαν καὶ δόξαν.
  
  13 Καὶ διὰ τοῦτο καὶ ἡμεῖς εὐχαριστοῦμεν τῷ θεῷ ἀδιαλείπτως, ὅτι παραλαβόντες λόγον ἀκοῆς παρ’ ἡμῶν τοῦ θεοῦ ἐδέξασθε οὐ λόγον ἀνθρώπων ἀλλὰ καθὼς ἀληθῶς ἐστὶν λόγον θεοῦ, ὃς καὶ ἐνεργεῖται ἐν ὑμῖν τοῖς πιστεύουσιν.
  
  14 ὑμεῖς γὰρ μιμηταὶ ἐγενήθητε, ἀδελφοί, τῶν ἐκκλησιῶν τοῦ θεοῦ τῶν οὐσῶν ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ, ὅτι τὰ αὐτὰ ἐπάθετε καὶ ὑμεῖς ὑπὸ τῶν ἰδίων συμφυλετῶν καθὼς καὶ αὐτοὶ ὑπὸ τῶν Ἰουδαίων
  
  15 τῶν καὶ τὸν κύριον ἀποκτεινάντων Ἰησοῦν καὶ τοὺς προφήτας καὶ ἡμᾶς ἐκδιωξάντων, καὶ θεῷ μὴ ἀρεσκόντων, καὶ πᾶσιν ἀνθρώποις ἐναντίων,
  
  16 κωλυόντων ἡμᾶς τοῖς ἔθνεσιν λαλῆσαι ἵνα σωθῶσιν, εἰς τὸ ἀναπληρῶσαι αὐτῶν τὰς ἁμαρτίας πάντοτε. ἔφθασεν δὲ ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἡ ὀργὴ εἰς τέλος.
  
  17 Ἡμεῖς δέ, ἀδελφοί, ἀπορφανισθέντες ἀφ’ ὑμῶν πρὸς καιρὸν ὥρας, προσώπῳ οὐ καρδίᾳ, περισσοτέρως ἐσπουδάσαμεν τὸ πρόσωπον ὑμῶν ἰδεῖν ἐν πολλῇ ἐπιθυμίᾳ.
  
  18 διότι ἠθελήσαμεν ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ὑμᾶς, ἐγὼ μὲν Παῦλος καὶ ἅπαξ καὶ δίς, καὶ ἐνέκοψεν ἡμᾶς ὁ Σατανᾶς.
  
  19 τίς γὰρ ἡμῶν ἐλπὶς ἢ χαρὰ ἢ στέφανος καυχήσεως — ἢ οὐχὶ καὶ ὑμεῖς — ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῇ αὐτοῦ παρουσίᾳ;
  
  20 ὑμεῖς γάρ ἐστε ἡ δόξα ἡμῶν καὶ ἡ χαρά.
