- 1 Rois 22
  
  1 Et on resta trois ans sans qu'il y eût guerre entre la Syrie et Israël.
  
  2 Et il arriva, en la troisième année, que Josaphat, roi de Juda, descendit vers le roi d'Israël.
  
  3 Et le roi d'Israël dit à ses serviteurs : Savez-vous que Ramoth de Galaad est à nous ? Et nous nous taisons, sans la reprendre de la main du roi de Syrie !
  
  4 Et il dit à Josaphat : Viendras-tu avec moi à la guerre, à Ramoth de Galaad ? Et Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël : Moi, je suis comme toi, mon peuple comme ton peuple, mes chevaux comme tes chevaux.
  
  5 Et Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël : Enquiers-toi aujourd'hui, je te prie, de la parole de l'Éternel.
  
  6 Et le roi d'Israël rassembla les prophètes, environ quatre cents hommes, et leur dit : Irai-je à la guerre contre Ramoth de Galaad, ou m'abstiendrai-je ? Et ils dirent : Monte ; et le Seigneur la livrera en la main du roi.
  
  7 Et Josaphat dit : N'y a-t-il pas ici encore un prophète de l'Éternel, pour que nous nous enquérions auprès de lui ?
  
  8 Et le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat : Il y a encore un homme, pour consulter l'Éternel par lui ; mais je le hais, car il ne prophétise pas du bien à mon égard, mais du mal ; c'est Michée, fils de Jimla. Et Josaphat dit : Que le roi ne parle pas ainsi !
  
  9 Et le roi d'Israël appela un eunuque, et dit : Fais promptement venir Michée, fils de Jimla.
  
  10 Et le roi d'Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, étaient assis chacun sur son trône, revêtus de leurs robes, sur une place ouverte, à l'entrée de la porte de Samarie ; et tous les prophètes prophétisaient devant eux.
  
  11 Et Sédécias, fils de Kenaana, se fit des cornes de fer, et dit : Ainsi dit l'Éternel : Avec celles-ci tu heurteras les Syriens, jusqu'à les exterminer.
  
  12 Et tous les prophètes prophétisaient de même, disant : Monte à Ramoth de Galaad, et prospère ; et l'Éternel la livrera en la main du roi.
  
  13 Et le messager qui était allé pour appeler Michée lui parla, disant : Voici, les paroles des prophètes, d'une seule bouche, annoncent du bien au roi ; que ta parole soit, je te prie, comme la parole de l'un d'eux, et annonce du bien.
  
  14 Mais Michée dit : L'Éternel est vivant, que ce que l'Éternel me dira, je l'annoncerai.
  
  15 Et il vint vers le roi. Et le roi lui dit : Michée, irons-nous à la guerre à Ramoth de Galaad, ou nous en abstiendrons-nous ? Et il lui dit : Monte et prospère ; et l'Éternel la livrera en la main du roi.
  
  16 Et le roi lui dit : Combien de fois t'adjurerai-je de ne me dire que la vérité au nom de l'Éternel ?
  
  17 Et Michée dit : J'ai vu tout Israël dispersé sur les montagnes, comme un troupeau qui n'a pas de berger ; et l'Éternel a dit : Ceux-ci n'ont pas de seigneur ; qu'ils s'en retournent en paix chacun à sa maison.
  
  18 Et le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat : Ne t'ai-je pas dit qu'il ne prophétise pas du bien à mon égard, mais du mal ?
  
  19 Et Michée dit : C'est pourquoi, écoute la parole de l'Éternel. J'ai vu l'Éternel assis sur son trône, et toute l'armée des cieux se tenant près de lui, à sa droite et à sa gauche ;
  
  20 et l'Éternel dit : Qui persuadera Achab, afin qu'il monte et qu'il tombe à Ramoth de Galaad ? Et celui-ci dit ainsi, et celui-là dit ainsi.
  
  21 Et un esprit sortit, et se tint devant l'Éternel, et dit : Moi, je le persuaderai.
  
  22 Et l'Éternel lui dit : Comment ? Et il dit : Je sortirai, et je serai un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes. Et l'Éternel dit : Tu le persuaderas, et aussi tu réussiras : sors, et fais ainsi.
  
  23 Et maintenant, voici, l'Éternel a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous tes prophètes que voilà, et l'Éternel a prononcé du mal à ton sujet.
  
  24 Et Sédécias, fils de Kenaana, s'approcha et frappa Michée sur la joue, et dit : Par où a passé l'Esprit de l'Éternel, d'avec moi, pour te parler ?
  
  25 Et Michée dit : Voici, tu le verras ce jour-là, quand tu iras de chambre en chambre pour te cacher.
  
  26 Et le roi d'Israël dit : Prends Michée, et emmène-le à Amon, chef de la ville, et à Joas, fils du roi ;
  
  27 et tu diras : Ainsi a dit le roi : Mettez cet homme en prison, et donnez-lui à manger le pain d'affliction et l'eau d'affliction, jusqu'à ce que je revienne en paix.
  
  28 Et Michée dit : Si jamais tu reviens en paix, l'Éternel n'a point parlé par moi. Et il dit : Peuples, entendez-le tous !
  
  29 Et le roi d'Israël monta, et Josaphat, roi de Juda, à Ramoth de Galaad.
  
  30 Et le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat : Je me déguiserai, et j'irai à la bataille ; mais toi, revêts-toi de tes robes. Et le roi d'Israël se déguisa et fut à la bataille.
  
  31 Et le roi de Syrie commanda aux trente-deux chefs de ses chars, disant : Ne combattez ni contre petit ni contre grand, mais contre le roi d'Israël seul.
  
  32 Et il arriva que, quand les chefs des chars virent Josaphat, ils dirent : Certainement c'est le roi d'Israël. Et ils se détournèrent, pour combattre contre lui ; et Josaphat cria.
  
  33 Et il arriva que, lorsque les chefs des chars virent que ce n'était pas le roi d'Israël, ils s'en revinrent de sa poursuite.
  
  34 Et un homme tira de l'arc à l'aventure et frappa le roi d'Israël entre les pièces d'attache et la cuirasse ; et Achab dit au conducteur de son char : Tourne ta main, et mène-moi hors de l'armée, car je suis blessé.
  
  35 Et la bataille se renforça ce jour-là, et le roi fut soutenu debout sur son char, vis-à-vis des Syriens ; et il mourut le soir ; et le sang de la blessure coulait dans le fond du char.
  
  36 Et une proclamation passa par le camp, au coucher du soleil, disant : Chacun à sa ville, et chacun à son pays !
  
  37 Et le roi mourut, et on l'amena à Samarie ; et on enterra le roi à Samarie.
  
  38 Et on lava le char à l'étang de Samarie, et les chiens léchèrent le sang d'Achab, là où les prostituées se lavaient, selon la parole de l'Éternel qu'il avait prononcée.
  
  39 Et le reste des actes d'Achab, et tout ce qu'il fit, et la maison d'ivoire qu'il bâtit, et toutes les villes qu'il bâtit : ces choses ne sont-elles pas écrites dans le livre des chroniques des rois d'Israël ?
  
  40 Et Achab s'endormit avec ses pères ; et Achazia, son fils, régna à sa place.
  
  41 Josaphat, fils d'Asa, commença de régner sur Juda, la quatrième année d'Achab, roi d'Israël.
  
  42 Josaphat était âgé de trente-cinq ans, lorsqu'il commença de régner, et il régna vingt-cinq ans à Jérusalem ; et le nom de sa mère était Azuba, fille de Shilkhi.
  
  43 Et il marcha dans toute la voie d'Asa, son père ; il ne s'en détourna pas, faisant ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel. (22 : 44) Seulement, les hauts lieux ne furent pas ôtés : le peuple sacrifiait encore et faisait fumer de l'encens sur les hauts lieux.
  
  44 (22 : 45) Et Josaphat fut en paix avec le roi d'Israël.
  
  45 (22 : 46) Et le reste des actes de Josaphat, et la puissance qu'il montra, et les guerres qu'il fit, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Juda ?
  
  46 (22 : 47) Et il extermina du pays le reste des hommes voués à la prostitution, qui étaient restés dans les jours d'Asa, son père.
  
  47 (22 : 48) Et il n'y avait pas de roi en Édom ; un gouverneur y régnait.
  
  48 (22 : 49) Josaphat construisit des navires de Tarsis pour aller à Ophir chercher de l'or ; mais ils n'allèrent pas, car les navires furent brisés à Etsion-Guéber.
  
  49 (22 : 50) Alors Achazia, fils d'Achab, dit à Josaphat : Que mes serviteurs aillent avec tes serviteurs dans les navires ; et Josaphat ne le voulut pas.
  
  50 (22 : 51) Et Josaphat s'endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père ; et Joram, son fils régna à sa place.
  
  51 (22 : 52) Achazia, fils d'Achab, commença de régner en Israël, à Samarie, la dix-septième année de Josaphat, roi de Juda ; et il régna sur Israël deux ans.
  
  52 (22 : 53) Et il fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l'Éternel, et il marcha dans la voie de son père, et dans la voie de sa mère, et dans la voie de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui fit pécher Israël.
  
  53 (22 : 54) Et il servit Baal, et se prosterna devant lui, et provoqua à colère l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, selon tout ce que son père avait fait.
  
  Daniel 4
  
  1 Nebucadnetsar le roi, à tous les peuples, peuplades et langues, qui habitent sur toute la terre : Que votre paix soit multipliée !
  
  2 Il m'a semblé bon de faire connaître les signes et les prodiges que le Dieu Très-haut a opérés à mon égard.
  
  3 Ses signes, combien ils sont grands ! Et ses prodiges, combien ils sont puissants ! Son royaume est un royaume éternel, et sa domination est de génération en génération.
  
  4 Moi, Nebucadnetsar, j'étais en paix dans ma maison, et florissant dans mon palais.
  
  5 Je vis un songe, et il m'effraya, et les pensées que j'avais sur mon lit, et les visions de ma tête, me troublèrent.
  
  6 Et de par moi fut donné un ordre qu'on amenât devant moi tous les sages de Babylone pour qu'ils me fissent connaître l'interprétation du songe.
  
  7 Alors vinrent les devins, les enchanteurs, les Chaldéens, et les augures ; et je dis le songe devant eux, mais ils ne m'en firent pas connaître l'interprétation ;
  
  8 mais, à la fin, entra devant moi Daniel, dont le nom est Belteshatsar, selon le nom de mon dieu, et en qui est l'esprit des dieux saints ; et je dis le songe devant lui.
  
  9 Belteshatsar, chef des devins, puisque je sais que l'esprit des dieux saints est en toi, et qu'aucun secret ne t'embarrasse, dis-moi les visions du songe que j'ai vu, et son interprétation.
  
  10 Or les visions de ma tête, sur mon lit, étaient celles-ci : je voyais, et voici, un arbre au milieu de la terre, et sa hauteur était grande.
  
  11 L'arbre crût et devint fort, et sa hauteur atteignit jusqu'aux bout de toute la terre.
  
  12 Son feuillage était beau et son fruit abondant, et en lui il y avait de la nourriture pour tous ; sous son ombre se tenaient les bêtes des champs, et dans ses branches habitaient les oiseaux des cieux ; et de lui toute chair se nourrissait.
  
  13 Je voyais, dans les visions de ma tête, sur mon lit, et voici un veillant, un saint, descendit des cieux.
  
  14 Il cria avec force, et dit ainsi : Abattez l'arbre et coupez ses branches, faites tomber son feuillage et dispersez son fruit ; que les bêtes s'enfuient de dessous lui, et les oiseaux, de ses branches.
  
  15 Toutefois, laissez dans la terre le tronc de ses racines, avec un lien de fer et d'airain autour de lui, dans l'herbe des champs ; et qu'il soit baigné de la rosée des cieux, et qu'il ait, avec les bêtes, sa part à l'herbe de la terre ;
  
  16 que son coeur d'homme soit changé, et qu'un coeur de bête lui soit donné ; et que sept temps passent sur lui.
  
  17 Cette sentence est par le décret des veillants, et la chose, par la parole des saints, afin que les vivants sachent que le Très-haut domine sur le royaume des hommes, et qu'il le donne à qui il veut, et y élève le plus vil des hommes.
  
  18 Ce songe, moi, le roi Nebucadnetsar, je l'ai vu ; et toi, Belteshatsar, dis-en l'interprétation, puisque tous les sages de mon royaume n'ont pas pu me faire connaître l'interprétation ; mais toi, tu le peux, car l'esprit des dieux saints est en toi.
  
  19 Alors Daniel, dont le nom est Belteshatsar, fut stupéfié pour une heure environ, et ses pensées le troublèrent. Le roi prit la parole et dit : Belteshatsar, que le songe et son interprétation ne te troublent pas. Belteshatsar répondit et dit : Mon seigneur ! que le songe soit pour ceux qui te haïssent, et son interprétation pour tes ennemis.
  
  20 L'arbre que tu as vu, qui croissait et devenait fort, et dont la hauteur atteignait jusqu'aux cieux, et qu'on voyait de toute la terre,
  
  21 et dont le feuillage était beau et le fruit abondant, et qui avait de la nourriture pour tous, sous lequel habitaient les bêtes des champs, et dans les branches duquel demeuraient les oiseaux des cieux :
  
  22 c'est toi, ô roi, qui t'es agrandi et es devenu puissant ; et ta grandeur s'est accrue et atteint jusqu'aux cieux, et ta domination, jusqu'au bout de la terre.
  
  23 Et quant à ce que le roi a vu un veillant, un saint, descendre des cieux et dire : Abattez l'arbre et détruisez-le ; toutefois laissez dans la terre le tronc de ses racines, avec un lien de fer et d'airain autour de lui, dans l'herbe des champs, et qu'il soit baigné de la rosée des cieux, et qu'il ait sa part avec les bêtes des champs jusqu'à ce que sept temps passent sur lui,
  
  24 -c'est ici l'interprétation, ô roi, et la décision du Très-haut, ce qui va arriver au roi, mon seigneur :
  
  25 On te chassera du milieu des hommes, et ta demeure sera avec les bêtes des champs, et on te fera manger l'herbe comme les boeufs, et tu seras baigné de la rosée des cieux, et sept temps passeront sur toi, jusqu'à ce que tu connaisses que le Très-haut domine sur le royaume des hommes, et qu'il le donne à qui il veut.
  
  26 Et quant à ce qu'on a dit de laisser le tronc des racines de l'arbre, ton royaume te demeurera, quand tu auras connu que les cieux dominent.
  
  27 C'est pourquoi, ô roi, que mon conseil te soit agréable ; et romps avec tes péchés par la justice, et avec ton iniquité, par la compassion envers les affligés, si ce peut être un prolongement de ta paix.
  
  28 Tout cela arrivera au roi Nebucadnetsar.
  
  29 Au bout de douze mois, il se promenait sur le palais du royaume de Babylone.
  
  30 Le roi prit la parole et dit : N'est-ce pas ici Babylone la grande, que j'ai bâtie pour être la maison de mon royaume, par la puissance de ma force et pour la gloire de ma magnificence ?
  
  31 La parole était encore dans la bouche du roi, qu'une voix tomba des cieux : Roi Nebucadnetsar, il t'est dit : Le royaume s'en est allé d'avec toi ;
  
  32 et on te chassera du milieu des hommes, et ta demeure sera avec les bêtes des champs ; on te fera manger de l'herbe comme les boeufs, et sept temps passeront sur toi, jusqu'à ce que tu connaisses que le Très-haut domine sur le royaume des hommes et qu'il le donne à qui il veut.
  
  33 Au même instant la parole s'accomplit sur Nebucadnetsar : il fut chassé du milieu des hommes, et il mangea de l'herbe comme les boeufs, et son corps fut baigné de la rosée des cieux, jusqu'à que ses cheveux fussent devenus longs comme les plumes de l'aigle, et ses ongles, comme ceux des oiseaux.
  
  34 à la fin de ces jours, moi, Nebucadnetsar, j'élevai mes yeux vers les cieux, et mon intelligence me revint, et je bénis le Très-Haut, et je louai et magnifiai celui qui vit éternellement, duquel la domination est une domination éternelle, et dont le royaume est de génération en génération ;
  
  35 et tous les habitants de la terre sont réputés comme néant, et il agit selon son bon plaisir dans l'armée des cieux et parmi les habitants de la terre ; et il n'y a personne qui puisse arrêter sa main et lui dire : Que fais-tu ?
  
  36 Dans ce temps-là, mon intelligence me revint, et, pour la gloire de mon royaume, ma magnificence et ma splendeur me revinrent, et mes conseillers et mes grands me cherchèrent, et je fus rétabli dans mon royaume, et ma grandeur fut extraordinairement augmentée.
  
  37 Maintenant, moi, Nebucadnetsar, je loue et j'exalte et je magnifie le roi des cieux, dont toutes les oeuvres sont vérité, et les voies, jugement, et qui est puissant pour abaisser ceux qui marchent avec orgueil.

  1 Mais pour ce qui est des temps et des saisons, frères, vous n'avez pas besoin qu'on vous en écrive ;
  
  2 car vous savez vous-mêmes parfaitement que le jour du Seigneur vient comme un voleur dans la nuit.
  
  3 Quand ils diront : "Paix et sûreté", alors une subite destruction viendra sur eux, comme les douleurs sur celle qui est enceinte, et ils n'échapperont point.
  
  4 Mais vous, frères, vous n'êtes pas dans les ténèbres, en sorte que le jour vous surprenne comme un voleur ;
  
  5 car vous êtes tous des fils de la lumière et des fils du jour ; nous ne sommes pas de la nuit ni des ténèbres.
  
  6 Ainsi donc ne dormons pas comme les autres, mais veillons et soyons sobres ;
  
  7 car ceux qui dorment, dorment la nuit, et ceux qui s'enivrent, s'enivrent la nuit ;
  
  8 mais nous qui sommes du jour, soyons sobres, revêtant la cuirasse de la foi et de l'amour, et, pour casque, l'espérance du salut ;
  
  9 car Dieu ne nous a pas destinés à la colère, mais à l'acquisition du salut par notre Seigneur Jésus Christ,
  
  10 qui est mort pour nous, afin que, soit que nous veillions, soit que nous dormions, nous vivions ensemble avec lui.
  
  11 C'est pourquoi exhortez-vous l'un l'autre et édifiez-vous l'un l'autre, chacun en particulier, comme aussi vous le faites.
  
  12 Or nous vous prions, frères, de connaître ceux qui travaillent parmi vous, et qui sont à la tête parmi vous dans le Seigneur, et qui vous avertissent,
  
  13 de les estimer très-haut en amour à cause de leur oeuvre. Soyez en paix entre vous.
  
  14 Or nous vous exhortons, frères : avertissez les déréglés, consolez ceux qui sont découragés, venez en aide aux faibles, usez de patience envers tous.
  
  15 Prenez garde que nul ne rende à personne mal pour mal ; mais poursuivez toujours ce qui est bon, et entre vous, et à l'égard de tous les hommes.
  
  16 Réjouissez-vous toujours.
  
  17 Priez sans cesse.
  
  18 En toutes choses rendez grâces, car telle est la volonté de Dieu dans le Christ Jésus à votre égard.
  
  19 N'éteignez pas l'Esprit ;
  
  20 ne méprisez pas les prophéties,
  
  21 mais éprouvez toutes choses, retenez ce qui est bon.
  
  22 Abstenez-vous de toute forme de mal.
  
  23 Or le Dieu de paix lui-même vous sanctifie entièrement ; et que votre esprit, et votre âme, et votre corps tout entiers, soient conservés sans reproche en la venue de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.
  
  24 Celui qui vous appelle est fidèle, qui aussi le fera.
  
  25 Frères, priez pour nous.
  
  26 Saluez tous les frères par un saint baiser.
  
  27 Je vous adjure par le Seigneur que la lettre soit lue à tous les saints frères.
  
  28 Que la grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ soit avec vous !

  1 They continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
  
  2 It happened in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
  
  3 The king of Israel said to his servants, "You know that Ramoth Gilead is ours, and we are still, and don't take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?"
  
  4 He said to Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth Gilead?" Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."
  
  5 Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire first for the word of Yahweh."
  
  6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?" They said, "Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king."
  
  7 But Jehoshaphat said, "Isn't there here a prophet of Yahweh, that we may inquire of him?"
  
  8 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him; for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil." Jehoshaphat said, "Don't let the king say so."
  
  9 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, "Quickly get Micaiah the son of Imlah."
  
  10 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
  
  11 Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, "Thus says Yahweh, 'With these you shall push the Syrians, until they are consumed.'"
  
  12 All the prophets prophesied so, saying, "Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king."
  
  13 The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, "See now, the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak good."
  
  14 Micaiah said, "As Yahweh lives, what Yahweh says to me, that I will speak."
  
  15 When he had come to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall we forbear?" He answered him, "Go up and prosper; and Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king."
  
  16 The king said to him, "How many times do I have to adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh?"
  
  17 He said, "I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. Yahweh said, 'These have no master. Let them each return to his house in peace.'"
  
  18 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"
  
  19 Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
  
  20 Yahweh said, 'Who shall entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?' One said one thing; and another said another.
  
  21 A spirit came out and stood before Yahweh, and said, 'I will entice him.'
  
  22 Yahweh said to him, 'How?' He said, 'I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' He said, 'You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.'
  
  23 Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you."
  
  24 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way did the Spirit of Yahweh go from me to speak to you?"
  
  25 Micaiah said, "Behold, you will see on that day, when you go into an inner room to hide yourself."
  
  26 The king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son.
  
  27 Say, 'Thus says the king, "Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace."'"
  
  28 Micaiah said, "If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me." He said, "Listen, all you people!"
  
  29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
  
  30 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes." The king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
  
  31 Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.
  
  32 It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "Surely that is the king of Israel!" and they turned aside to fight against him. Jehoshaphat cried out.
  
  33 It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
  
  34 A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, "Turn your hand, and carry me out of the battle; for I am severely wounded."
  
  35 The battle increased that day. The king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.
  
  36 A cry went throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, "Every man to his city, and every man to his country!"
  
  37 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
  
  38 They washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood where the prostitutes washed themselves; according to the word of Yahweh which he spoke.
  
  39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
  
  40 So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.
  
  41 Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
  
  42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
  
  43 He walked in all the way of Asa his father; He didn't turn aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh: however the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
  
  44 Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
  
  45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
  
  46 The remnant of the sodomites, that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land.
  
  47 There was no king in Edom: a deputy was king.
  
  48 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they didn't go; for the ships were broken at Ezion Geber.
  
  49 Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my servants go with your servants in the ships." But Jehoshaphat would not.
  
  50 Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; Jehoram his son reigned in his place.
  
  51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel.
  
  52 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, in which he made Israel to sin.
  
  53 He served Baal, and worshiped him, and provoked to anger Yahweh, the God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
  
  Daniel 4
  
  1 Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.
  
  2 It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked toward me.
  
  3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
  
  4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace.
  
  5 I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
  
  6 Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.
  
  7 Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me its interpretation.
  
  8 But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and I told the dream before him, [saying],
  
  9 Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no secret troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation.
  
  10 Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and its height was great.
  
  11 The tree grew, and was strong, and its height reached to the sky, and its sight to the end of all the earth.
  
  12 The leaves of it were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all: the animals of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the sky lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it.
  
  13 I saw in the visions of my head on my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from the sky.
  
  14 He cried aloud, and said thus, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the animals get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches.
  
  15 Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth:
  
  16 let his heart be changed from man's, and let an animal's heart be given to him; and let seven times pass over him.
  
  17 The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will, and sets up over it the lowest of men.
  
  18 This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and you, Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.
  
  19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken mute for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered, Belteshazzar, don't let the dream, or the interpretation, trouble you. Belteshazzar answered, My lord, the dream be to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries.
  
  20 The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached to the sky, and its sight to all the earth;
  
  21 whose leaves were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all; under which the animals of the field lived, and on whose branches the birds of the sky had their habitation:
  
  22 it is you, O king, that are grown and become strong; for your greatness is grown, and reaches to the sky, and your dominion to the end of the earth.
  
  23 Whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him;
  
  24 this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which has come on my lord the king:
  
  25 that you shall be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field, and you shall be made to eat grass as oxen, and shall be wet with the dew of the sky, and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.
  
  26 Whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; your kingdom shall be sure to you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule.
  
  27 Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your tranquility.
  
  28 All this came on the king Nebuchadnezzar.
  
  29 At the end of twelve months he was walking in the royal palace of Babylon.
  
  30 The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?
  
  31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from the sky, [saying], O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you:
  
  32 and you shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field; you shall be made to eat grass as oxen; and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.
  
  33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair was grown like eagles' [feathers], and his nails like birds' [claws].
  
  34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation.
  
  35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or ask him, What are you doing?
  
  36 At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought to me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me.
  
  37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
  
  1 Thessaloniciens 5
  
  1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
  
  2 For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
  
  3 For when they are saying, "Peace and safety," then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape.
  
  4 But you, brothers, aren't in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
  
  5 You are all children of light, and children of the day. We don't belong to the night, nor to darkness,
  
  6 so then let's not sleep, as the rest do, but let's watch and be sober.
  
  7 For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.
  
  8 But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
  
  9 For God didn't appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
  
  10 who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
  
  11 Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.
  
  12 But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you,
  
  13 and to respect and honor them in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
  
  14 We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient toward all.
  
  15 See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good, for one another, and for all.
  
  16 Rejoice always.
  
  17 Pray without ceasing.
  
  18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
  
  19 Don't quench the Spirit.
  
  20 Don't despise prophesies.
  
  21 Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.
  
  22 Abstain from every form of evil.
  
  23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  
  24 He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
  
  25 Brothers, pray for us.
  
  26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
  
  27 I solemnly command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.
  
  28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

  11 וַיַּ֥עַשׂ ל֛וֹ צִדְקִיָּ֥ה בֶֽן־כְּנַעֲנָ֖ה קַרְנֵ֣י בַרְזֶ֑ל וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ כֹּֽה־אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה בְּאֵ֛לֶּה תְּנַגַּ֥ח אֶת־אֲרָ֖ם עַד־כַּלֹּתָֽם׃
  
  12 וְכָל־הַנְּבִאִ֔ים נִבְּאִ֥ים כֵּ֖ן לֵאמֹ֑ר עֲלֵ֞ה רָמֹ֤ת גִּלְעָד֙ וְהַצְלַ֔ח וְנָתַ֥ן יְהוָ֖ה בְּיַ֥ד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  13 וְהַמַּלְאָ֞ךְ אֲשֶׁר־הָלַ֣ךְ ׀ לִקְרֹ֣א מִיכָ֗יְהוּ דִּבֶּ֤ר אֵלָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּה־נָ֞א דִּבְרֵ֧י הַנְּבִיאִ֛ים פֶּֽה־אֶחָ֥ד ט֖וֹב אֶל־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ יְהִֽי־נָ֣א *דבריך **דְבָרְךָ֗ כִּדְבַ֛ר אַחַ֥ד מֵהֶ֖ם וְדִבַּ֥רְתָּ טּֽוֹב׃

  22 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֵצֵא֙ וְהָיִ֙יתִי֙ ר֣וּחַ שֶׁ֔קֶר בְּפִ֖י כָּל־נְבִיאָ֑יו וַיֹּ֗אמֶר תְּפַתֶּה֙ וְגַם־תּוּכָ֔ל צֵ֖א וַעֲשֵׂה־כֵֽן׃
  
  23 וְעַתָּ֗ה הִנֵּ֨ה נָתַ֤ן יְהוָה֙ ר֣וּחַ שֶׁ֔קֶר בְּפִ֖י כָּל־נְבִיאֶ֣יךָ אֵ֑לֶּה וַֽיהוָ֔ה דִּבֶּ֥ר עָלֶ֖יךָ רָעָֽה׃
  
  24 וַיִּגַּשׁ֙ צִדְקִיָּ֣הוּ בֶֽן־כְּנַעֲנָ֔ה וַיַּכֶּ֥ה אֶת־מִיכָ֖יְהוּ עַל־הַלֶּ֑חִי וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אֵי־זֶ֨ה עָבַ֧ר רֽוּחַ־יְהוָ֛ה מֵאִתִּ֖י לְדַבֵּ֥ר אוֹתָֽךְ׃
  
  25 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מִיכָ֔יְהוּ הִנְּךָ֥ רֹאֶ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא אֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּבֹ֛א חֶ֥דֶר בְּחֶ֖דֶר לְהֵחָבֵֽה׃
  
  26 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל קַ֚ח אֶת־מִיכָ֔יְהוּ וַהֲשִׁיבֵ֖הוּ אֶל־אָמֹ֣ן שַׂר־הָעִ֑יר וְאֶל־יוֹאָ֖שׁ בֶּן־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  27 וְאָמַרְתָּ֗ כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ שִׂ֥ימוּ אֶת־זֶ֖ה בֵּ֣ית הַכֶּ֑לֶא וְהַאֲכִילֻ֨הוּ לֶ֤חֶם לַ֙חַץ֙ וּמַ֣יִם לַ֔חַץ עַ֖ד בֹּאִ֥י בְשָׁלֽוֹם׃
  
  28 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מִיכָ֔יְהוּ אִם־שׁ֤וֹב תָּשׁוּב֙ בְּשָׁל֔וֹם לֹֽא־דִבֶּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה בִּ֑י וַיֹּ֕אמֶר שִׁמְע֖וּ עַמִּ֥ים כֻּלָּֽם׃
  
  29 וַיַּ֧עַל מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל וְיהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֖ה רָמֹ֥ת גִּלְעָֽד׃
  
  30 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ מֶ֨לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶל־יְהוֹשָׁפָ֗ט הִתְחַפֵּשׂ֙ וָבֹ֣א בַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וְאַתָּ֖ה לְבַ֣שׁ בְּגָדֶ֑יךָ וַיִּתְחַפֵּשׂ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיָּב֖וֹא בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
  
  31 וּמֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֡ם צִוָּ֣ה אֶת־שָׂרֵי֩ הָרֶ֨כֶב אֲשֶׁר־ל֜וֹ שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹ֚א תִּלָּ֣חֲמ֔וּ אֶת־קָטֹ֖ן וְאֶת־גָּד֑וֹל כִּ֛י אִֽם־אֶת־מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְבַדּֽוֹ׃
  
  32 וַיְהִ֡י כִּרְאוֹת֩ שָׂרֵ֨י הָרֶ֜כֶב אֶת־יְהוֹשָׁפָ֗ט וְהֵ֤מָּה אָֽמְרוּ֙ אַ֣ךְ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל ה֔וּא וַיָּסֻ֥רוּ עָלָ֖יו לְהִלָּחֵ֑ם וַיִּזְעַ֖ק יְהוֹשָׁפָֽט׃
  
  33 וַיְהִ֗י כִּרְאוֹת֙ שָׂרֵ֣י הָרֶ֔כֶב כִּֽי־לֹא־מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל ה֑וּא וַיָּשׁ֖וּבוּ מֵאַחֲרָֽיו׃
  
  34 וְאִ֗ישׁ מָשַׁ֤ךְ בַּקֶּ֙שֶׁת֙ לְתֻמּ֔וֹ וַיַּכֶּה֙ אֶת־מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בֵּ֥ין הַדְּבָקִ֖ים וּבֵ֣ין הַשִּׁרְיָ֑ן וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְרַכָּב֗וֹ הֲפֹ֥ךְ יָדְךָ֛ וְהוֹצִיאֵ֥נִי מִן־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה כִּ֥י הָחֳלֵֽיתִי׃
  
  35 וַתַּעֲלֶ֤ה הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא וְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ הָיָ֧ה מָעֳמָ֛ד בַּמֶּרְכָּבָ֖ה נֹ֣כַח אֲרָ֑ם וַיָּ֣מָת בָּעֶ֔רֶב וַיִּ֥צֶק דַּֽם־הַמַּכָּ֖ה אֶל־חֵ֥יק הָרָֽכֶב׃
  
  36 וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר הָרִנָּה֙ בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה כְּבֹ֥א הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ לֵאמֹ֑ר אִ֥ישׁ אֶל־עִיר֖וֹ וְאִ֥ישׁ אֶל־אַרְצֽוֹ׃
  
  37 וַיָּ֣מָת הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַיָּב֖וֹא שֹׁמְר֑וֹן וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃
  
  38 וַיִּשְׁטֹ֨ף אֶת־הָרֶ֜כֶב עַ֣ל ׀ בְּרֵכַ֣ת שֹׁמְר֗וֹן וַיָּלֹ֤קּוּ הַכְּלָבִים֙ אֶת־דָּמ֔וֹ וְהַזֹּנ֖וֹת רָחָ֑צוּ כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽר׃
  
  39 וְיֶתֶר֩ דִּבְרֵ֨י אַחְאָ֜ב וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֗ה וּבֵ֤ית הַשֵּׁן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּנָ֔ה וְכָל־הֶעָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּנָ֑ה הֲלֽוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
  
  40 וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב אַחְאָ֖ב עִם־אֲבֹתָ֑יו וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
  
  41 וִיהֽוֹשָׁפָט֙ בֶּן־אָסָ֔א מָלַ֖ךְ עַל־יְהוּדָ֑ה בִּשְׁנַ֣ת אַרְבַּ֔ע לְאַחְאָ֖ב מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
  
  42 יְהוֹשָׁפָ֗ט בֶּן־שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים וְחָמֵ֤שׁ שָׁנָה֙ בְּמָלְכ֔וֹ וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים וְחָמֵשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ עֲזוּבָ֖ה בַּת־שִׁלְחִֽי׃
  
  43 וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ בְּכָל־דֶּ֛רֶךְ אָסָ֥א אָבִ֖יו לֹא־סָ֣ר מִמֶּ֑נּוּ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הַיָּשָׁ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
  
  44 אַ֥ךְ הַבָּמ֖וֹת לֹֽא־סָ֑רוּ ע֥וֹד הָעָ֛ם מְזַבְּחִ֥ים וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים בַּבָּמֽוֹת׃
  
  45 וַיַּשְׁלֵ֥ם יְהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט עִם־מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
  
  46 וְיֶ֨תֶר דִּבְרֵ֧י יְהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט וּגְבוּרָת֥וֹ אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֖ה וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר נִלְחָ֑ם הֲלֹֽא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃
  
  47 וְיֶ֙תֶר֙ הַקָּדֵ֔שׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁאַ֔ר בִּימֵ֖י אָסָ֣א אָבִ֑יו בִּעֵ֖ר מִן־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
  
  48 וּמֶ֥לֶךְ אֵ֛ין בֶּאֱד֖וֹם נִצָּ֥ב מֶֽלֶךְ׃
  
  49 יְהוֹשָׁפָ֡ט *עשר **עָשָׂה֩ אֳנִיּ֨וֹת תַּרְשִׁ֜ישׁ לָלֶ֧כֶת אוֹפִ֛ירָה לַזָּהָ֖ב וְלֹ֣א הָלָ֑ךְ כִּֽי־*נשברה **נִשְׁבְּר֥וּ אֳנִיּ֖וֹת בְּעֶצְי֥וֹן גָּֽבֶר׃
  
  50 אָ֠ז אָמַ֞ר אֲחַזְיָ֤הוּ בֶן־אַחְאָב֙ אֶל־יְה֣וֹשָׁפָ֔ט יֵלְכ֧וּ עֲבָדַ֛י עִם־עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ בָּאֳנִיּ֑וֹת וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה יְהוֹשָׁפָֽט׃
  
  51 וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב יְהֽוֹשָׁפָט֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵר֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו בְּעִ֖יר דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יְהוֹרָ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
  
  52 אֲחַזְיָ֣הוּ בֶן־אַחְאָ֗ב מָלַ֤ךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן בִּשְׁנַת֙ שְׁבַ֣ע עֶשְׂרֵ֔ה לִיהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שְׁנָתָֽיִם׃
  
  53 וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ בְּדֶ֤רֶךְ אָבִיו֙ וּבְדֶ֣רֶךְ אִמּ֔וֹ וּבְדֶ֙רֶךְ֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

  1 אֲנָ֣ה נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר שְׁלֵ֤ה הֲוֵית֙ בְּבֵיתִ֔י וְרַעְנַ֖ן בְּהֵיכְלִֽי׃
  
  2 חֵ֥לֶם חֲזֵ֖ית וִֽידַחֲלִנַּ֑נִי וְהַרְהֹרִין֙ עַֽל־מִשְׁכְּבִ֔י וְחֶזְוֵ֥י רֵאשִׁ֖י יְבַהֲלֻנַּֽנִי׃
  
  3 וּמִנִּי֙ שִׂ֣ים טְעֵ֔ם לְהַנְעָלָ֣ה קָֽדָמַ֔י לְכֹ֖ל חַכִּימֵ֣י בָבֶ֑ל דִּֽי־פְשַׁ֥ר חֶלְמָ֖א יְהֽוֹדְעֻנַּֽנִי׃
  
  4 בֵּאדַ֣יִן *עללין **עָלִּ֗ין חַרְטֻמַיָּא֙ אָֽשְׁפַיָּ֔א *כשדיא **כַּשְׂדָּאֵ֖י וְגָזְרַיָּ֑א וְחֶלְמָ֗א אָמַ֤ר אֲנָה֙ קֳדָ֣מֵיה֔וֹן וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ לָא־מְהוֹדְעִ֥ין לִֽי׃
  
  5 וְעַ֣ד אָחֳרֵ֡ין עַל֩ קָֽדָמַ֨י דָּנִיֵּ֜אל דִּֽי־שְׁמֵ֤הּ בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ כְּשֻׁ֣ם אֱלָהִ֔י וְדִ֛י רֽוּחַ־אֱלָהִ֥ין קַדִּישִׁ֖ין בֵּ֑הּ וְחֶלְמָ֖א קָֽדָמ֥וֹהִי אַמְרֵֽת׃
  
  6 בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֮ רַ֣ב חַרְטֻמַיָּא֒ דִּ֣י ׀ אֲנָ֣ה יִדְעֵ֗ת דִּ֠י ר֣וּחַ אֱלָהִ֤ין קַדִּישִׁין֙ בָּ֔ךְ וְכָל־רָ֖ז לָא־אָנֵ֣ס לָ֑ךְ חֶזְוֵ֨י חֶלְמִ֧י דִֽי־חֲזֵ֛ית וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ אֱמַֽר׃
  
  7 וְחֶזְוֵ֥י רֵאשִׁ֖י עַֽל־מִשְׁכְּבִ֑י חָזֵ֣ה הֲוֵ֔ית וַאֲל֥וּ אִילָ֛ן בְּג֥וֹא אַרְעָ֖א וְרוּמֵ֥הּ שַׂגִּֽיא׃
  
  8 רְבָ֥ה אִֽילָנָ֖א וּתְקִ֑ף וְרוּמֵהּ֙ יִמְטֵ֣א לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א וַחֲזוֹתֵ֖הּ לְס֥וֹף כָּל־אַרְעָֽא׃
  
  9 עָפְיֵ֤הּ שַׁפִּיר֙ וְאִנְבֵּ֣הּ שַׂגִּ֔יא וּמָז֨וֹן לְכֹ֖לָּא־בֵ֑הּ תְּחֹת֜וֹהִי תַּטְלֵ֣ל ׀ חֵיוַ֣ת בָּרָ֗א וּבְעַנְפ֙וֹהִי֙ *ידרון **יְדוּרָן֙ צִפֲּרֵ֣י שְׁמַיָּ֔א וּמִנֵּ֖הּ יִתְּזִ֥ין כָּל־בִּשְׂרָֽא׃
  
  10 חָזֵ֥ה הֲוֵ֛ית בְּחֶזְוֵ֥י רֵאשִׁ֖י עַֽל־מִשְׁכְּבִ֑י וַאֲלוּ֙ עִ֣יר וְקַדִּ֔ישׁ מִן־שְׁמַיָּ֖א נָחִֽת׃
  
  11 קָרֵ֨א בְחַ֜יִל וְכֵ֣ן אָמַ֗ר גֹּ֤דּוּ אִֽילָנָא֙ וְקַצִּ֣צוּ עַנְפ֔וֹהִי אַתַּ֥רוּ עָפְיֵ֖הּ וּבַדַּ֣רוּ אִנְבֵּ֑הּ תְּנֻ֤ד חֵֽיוְתָא֙ מִן־תַּחְתּ֔וֹהִי וְצִפְּרַיָּ֖א מִן־עַנְפֽוֹהִי׃
  
  12 בְּרַ֨ם עִקַּ֤ר שָׁרְשׁ֙וֹהִי֙ בְּאַרְעָ֣א שְׁבֻ֔קוּ וּבֶֽאֱסוּר֙ דִּֽי־פַרְזֶ֣ל וּנְחָ֔שׁ בְּדִתְאָ֖א דִּ֣י בָרָ֑א וּבְטַ֤ל שְׁמַיָּא֙ יִצְטַבַּ֔ע וְעִם־חֵיוְתָ֥א חֲלָקֵ֖הּ בַּעֲשַׂ֥ב אַרְעָֽא׃
  
  13 לִבְבֵהּ֙ מִן־*אנושא **אֲנָשָׁ֣א יְשַׁנּ֔וֹן וּלְבַ֥ב חֵיוָ֖ה יִתְיְהִ֣ב לֵ֑הּ וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה עִדָּנִ֖ין יַחְלְפ֥וּן עֲלֽוֹהִי׃
  
  14 בִּגְזֵרַ֤ת עִירִין֙ פִּתְגָמָ֔א וּמֵאמַ֥ר קַדִּישִׁ֖ין שְׁאֵֽלְתָ֑א עַד־דִּבְרַ֡ת דִּ֣י יִנְדְּע֣וּן חַ֠יַּיָּא דִּֽי־שַׁלִּ֨יט *עליא **עִלָּאָ֜ה בְּמַלְכ֣וּת *אנושא **אֲנָשָׁ֗א וּלְמַן־דִּ֤י יִצְבֵּא֙ יִתְּנִנַּ֔הּ וּשְׁפַ֥ל אֲנָשִׁ֖ים יְקִ֥ים *עליה **עֲלַֽהּ׃
  
  15 דְּנָה֙ חֶלְמָ֣א חֲזֵ֔ית אֲנָ֖ה מַלְכָּ֣א נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֑ר *ואנתה **וְאַ֨נְתְּ בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֜ר פִּשְׁרֵ֣א ׀ אֱמַ֗ר כָּל־קֳבֵל֙ דִּ֣י ׀ כָּל־חַכִּימֵ֣י מַלְכוּתִ֗י לָֽא־יָכְלִ֤ין פִּשְׁרָא֙ לְהוֹדָ֣עֻתַ֔נִי *ואנתה **וְאַ֣נְתְּ כָּהֵ֔ל דִּ֛י רֽוּחַ־אֱלָהִ֥ין קַדִּישִׁ֖ין בָּֽךְ׃
  
  16 אֱדַ֨יִן דָּֽנִיֵּ֜אל דִּֽי־שְׁמֵ֣הּ בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר אֶשְׁתּוֹמַם֙ כְּשָׁעָ֣ה חֲדָ֔ה וְרַעְיֹנֹ֖הִי יְבַהֲלֻנֵּ֑הּ עָנֵ֨ה מַלְכָּ֜א וְאָמַ֗ר בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ חֶלְמָ֤א וּפִשְׁרֵא֙ אַֽל־יְבַהֲלָ֔ךְ עָנֵ֤ה בֵלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ וְאָמַ֔ר *מראי **מָרִ֕י חֶלְמָ֥א *לשנאיך **לְשָֽׂנְאָ֖ךְ וּפִשְׁרֵ֥הּ *לעריך **לְעָרָֽךְ׃
  
  17 אִֽילָנָא֙ דִּ֣י חֲזַ֔יְתָ דִּ֥י רְבָ֖ה וּתְקִ֑ף וְרוּמֵהּ֙ יִמְטֵ֣א לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א וַחֲזוֹתֵ֖הּ לְכָל־אַרְעָֽא׃
  
  18 וְעָפְיֵ֤הּ שַׁפִּיר֙ וְאִנְבֵּ֣הּ שַׂגִּ֔יא וּמָז֨וֹן לְכֹ֖לָּא־בֵ֑הּ תְּחֹת֗וֹהִי תְּדוּר֙ חֵיוַ֣ת בָּרָ֔א וּבְעַנְפ֕וֹהִי יִשְׁכְּנָ֖ן צִפֲּרֵ֥י שְׁמַיָּֽא׃
  
  19 *אנתה־**אַנְתְּ־ה֣וּא מַלְכָּ֔א דִּ֥י רְבַ֖ית וּתְקֵ֑פְתְּ וּרְבוּתָ֤ךְ רְבָת֙ וּמְטָ֣ת לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א וְשָׁלְטָנָ֖ךְ לְס֥וֹף אַרְעָֽא׃
  
  20 וְדִ֣י חֲזָ֣ה מַלְכָּ֡א עִ֣יר וְקַדִּ֣ישׁ נָחִ֣ת ׀ מִן־שְׁמַיָּ֡א וְאָמַר֩ גֹּ֨דּוּ אִֽילָנָ֜א וְחַבְּל֗וּהִי בְּרַ֨ם עִקַּ֤ר שָׁרְשׁ֙וֹהִי֙ בְּאַרְעָ֣א שְׁבֻ֔קוּ וּבֶאֱסוּר֙ דִּֽי־פַרְזֶ֣ל וּנְחָ֔שׁ בְּדִתְאָ֖א דִּ֣י בָרָ֑א וּבְטַ֧ל שְׁמַיָּ֣א יִצְטַבַּ֗ע וְעִם־חֵיוַ֤ת בָּרָא֙ חֲלָקֵ֔הּ עַ֛ד דִּֽי־שִׁבְעָ֥ה עִדָּנִ֖ין יַחְלְפ֥וּן עֲלֽוֹהִי׃
  
  21 דְּנָ֥ה פִשְׁרָ֖א מַלְכָּ֑א וּגְזֵרַ֤ת *עליא **עִלָּאָה֙ הִ֔יא דִּ֥י מְטָ֖ת עַל־*מראי **מָרִ֥י מַלְכָּֽא׃
  
  22 וְלָ֣ךְ טָֽרְדִ֣ין מִן־אֲנָשָׁ֡א וְעִם־חֵיוַ֣ת בָּרָא֩ לֶהֱוֵ֨ה מְדֹרָ֜ךְ וְעִשְׂבָּ֥א כְתוֹרִ֣ין ׀ לָ֣ךְ יְטַֽעֲמ֗וּן וּמִטַּ֤ל שְׁמַיָּא֙ לָ֣ךְ מְצַבְּעִ֔ין וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה עִדָּנִ֖ין יַחְלְפ֣וּן עֲלָ֑יךְ עַ֣ד דִּֽי־תִנְדַּ֗ע דִּֽי־שַׁלִּ֤יט עִלָּיָא֙ בְּמַלְכ֣וּת אֲנָשָׁ֔א וּלְמַן־דִּ֥י יִצְבֵּ֖א יִתְּנִנַּֽהּ׃
  
  23 וְדִ֣י אֲמַ֗רוּ לְמִשְׁבַּ֞ק עִקַּ֤ר שָׁרְשׁ֙וֹהִי֙ דִּ֣י אִֽילָנָ֔א מַלְכוּתָ֖ךְ לָ֣ךְ קַיָּמָ֑ה מִן־דִּ֣י תִנְדַּ֔ע דִּ֥י שַׁלִּטִ֖ן שְׁמַיָּֽא׃
  
  24 לָהֵ֣ן מַלְכָּ֗א מִלְכִּי֙ יִשְׁפַּ֣ר *עליך **עֲלָ֔ךְ *וחטיך **וַחֲטָאָךְ֙ בְּצִדְקָ֣ה פְרֻ֔ק וַעֲוָיָתָ֖ךְ בְּמִחַ֣ן עֲנָ֑יִן הֵ֛ן תֶּהֱוֵ֥א אַרְכָ֖ה לִשְׁלֵוְתָֽךְ׃
  
  25 כֹּ֣לָּא מְּטָ֔א עַל־נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֖ר מַלְכָּֽא׃
  
  26 לִקְצָ֥ת יַרְחִ֖ין תְּרֵֽי־עֲשַׂ֑ר עַל־הֵיכַ֧ל מַלְכוּתָ֛א דִּ֥י בָבֶ֖ל מְהַלֵּ֥ךְ הֲוָֽה׃
  
  27 עָנֵ֤ה מַלְכָּא֙ וְאָמַ֔ר הֲלָ֥א דָא־הִ֖יא בָּבֶ֣ל רַבְּתָ֑א דִּֽי־אֲנָ֤ה בֱנַיְתַהּ֙ לְבֵ֣ית מַלְכ֔וּ בִּתְקַ֥ף חִסְנִ֖י וְלִיקָ֥ר הַדְרִֽי׃
  
  28 ע֗וֹד מִלְּתָא֙ בְּפֻ֣ם מַלְכָּ֔א קָ֖ל מִן־שְׁמַיָּ֣א נְפַ֑ל לָ֤ךְ אָֽמְרִין֙ נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֣ר מַלְכָּ֔א מַלְכוּתָ֖ה עֲדָ֥ת מִנָּֽךְ׃
  
  29 וּמִן־אֲנָשָׁא֩ לָ֨ךְ טָֽרְדִ֜ין וְֽעִם־חֵיוַ֧ת בָּרָ֣א מְדֹרָ֗ךְ עִשְׂבָּ֤א כְתוֹרִין֙ לָ֣ךְ יְטַעֲמ֔וּן וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה עִדָּנִ֖ין יַחְלְפ֣וּן *עליך **עֲלָ֑ךְ עַ֣ד דִּֽי־תִנְדַּ֗ע דִּֽי־שַׁלִּ֤יט עִלָּיָא֙ בְּמַלְכ֣וּת אֲנָשָׁ֔א וּלְמַן־דִּ֥י יִצְבֵּ֖א יִתְּנִנַּֽהּ׃
  
  30 בַּהּ־שַׁעֲתָ֗א מִלְּתָא֮ סָ֣פַת עַל־נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר֒ וּמִן־אֲנָשָׁ֣א טְרִ֔יד וְעִשְׂבָּ֤א כְתוֹרִין֙ יֵאכֻ֔ל וּמִטַּ֥ל שְׁמַיָּ֖א גִּשְׁמֵ֣הּ יִצְטַבַּ֑ע עַ֣ד דִּ֥י שַׂעְרֵ֛הּ כְּנִשְׁרִ֥ין רְבָ֖ה וְטִפְר֥וֹהִי כְצִפְּרִֽין׃
  
  31 וְלִקְצָ֣ת יֽוֹמַיָּה֩ אֲנָ֨ה נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֜ר עַיְנַ֣י ׀ לִשְׁמַיָּ֣א נִטְלֵ֗ת וּמַנְדְּעִי֙ עֲלַ֣י יְת֔וּב *ולעליא **וּלְעִלָּאָה֙ בָּרְכֵ֔ת וּלְחַ֥י עָלְמָ֖א שַׁבְּחֵ֣ת וְהַדְּרֵ֑ת דִּ֤י שָׁלְטָנֵהּ֙ שָׁלְטָ֣ן עָלַ֔ם וּמַלְכוּתֵ֖הּ עִם־דָּ֥ר וְדָֽר׃
  
  32 וְכָל־*דארי **דָּיְרֵ֤י אַרְעָא֙ כְּלָ֣ה חֲשִׁיבִ֔ין וּֽכְמִצְבְּיֵ֗הּ עָבֵד֙ בְּחֵ֣יל שְׁמַיָּ֔א *ודארי **וְדָיְרֵ֖י אַרְעָ֑א וְלָ֤א אִיתַי֙ דִּֽי־יְמַחֵ֣א בִידֵ֔הּ וְיֵ֥אמַר לֵ֖הּ מָ֥ה עֲבַֽדְתְּ׃
  
  33 בֵּהּ־זִמְנָ֞א מַנְדְּעִ֣י ׀ יְת֣וּב עֲלַ֗י וְלִיקַ֨ר מַלְכוּתִ֜י הַדְרִ֤י וְזִוִי֙ יְת֣וּב עֲלַ֔י וְלִ֕י הַדָּֽבְרַ֥י וְרַבְרְבָנַ֖י יְבַע֑וֹן וְעַל־מַלְכוּתִ֣י הָתְקְנַ֔ת וּרְב֥וּ יַתִּירָ֖ה ה֥וּסְפַת לִֽי׃
  
  34 כְּעַ֞ן אֲנָ֣ה נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר מְשַׁבַּ֨ח וּמְרוֹמֵ֤ם וּמְהַדַּר֙ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ שְׁמַיָּ֔א דִּ֤י כָל־מַעֲבָד֙וֹהִי֙ קְשֹׁ֔ט וְאֹרְחָתֵ֖הּ דִּ֑ין וְדִי֙ מַהְלְכִ֣ין בְּגֵוָ֔ה יָכִ֖ל לְהַשְׁפָּלָֽה׃

  1 Περὶ δὲ τῶν χρόνων καὶ τῶν καιρῶν, ἀδελφοί, οὐ χρείαν ἔχετε ὑμῖν γράφεσθαι,
  
  2 αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἀκριβῶς οἴδατε ὅτι ἡμέρα κυρίου ὡς κλέπτης ἐν νυκτὶ οὕτως ἔρχεται.
  
  3 ὅταν λέγωσιν· Εἰρήνη καὶ ἀσφάλεια, τότε αἰφνίδιος αὐτοῖς ἐφίσταται ὄλεθρος ὥσπερ ἡ ὠδὶν τῇ ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσῃ, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐκφύγωσιν.
  
  4 ὑμεῖς δέ, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἐστὲ ἐν σκότει, ἵνα ἡ ἡμέρα ὑμᾶς ὡς κλέπτης καταλάβῃ,
  
  5 πάντες γὰρ ὑμεῖς υἱοὶ φωτός ἐστε καὶ υἱοὶ ἡμέρας. οὐκ ἐσμὲν νυκτὸς οὐδὲ σκότους·
  
  6 ἄρα οὖν μὴ καθεύδωμεν ὡς οἱ λοιποί, ἀλλὰ γρηγορῶμεν καὶ νήφωμεν.
  
  7 οἱ γὰρ καθεύδοντες νυκτὸς καθεύδουσιν, καὶ οἱ μεθυσκόμενοι νυκτὸς μεθύουσιν·
  
  8 ἡμεῖς δὲ ἡμέρας ὄντες νήφωμεν, ἐνδυσάμενοι θώρακα πίστεως καὶ ἀγάπης καὶ περικεφαλαίαν ἐλπίδα σωτηρίας·
  
  9 ὅτι οὐκ ἔθετο ἡμᾶς ὁ θεὸς εἰς ὀργὴν ἀλλὰ εἰς περιποίησιν σωτηρίας διὰ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ,
  
  10 τοῦ ἀποθανόντος περὶ ἡμῶν ἵνα εἴτε γρηγορῶμεν εἴτε καθεύδωμεν ἅμα σὺν αὐτῷ ζήσωμεν.
  
  11 διὸ παρακαλεῖτε ἀλλήλους καὶ οἰκοδομεῖτε εἷς τὸν ἕνα, καθὼς καὶ ποιεῖτε.
  
  12 Ἐρωτῶμεν δὲ ὑμᾶς, ἀδελφοί, εἰδέναι τοὺς κοπιῶντας ἐν ὑμῖν καὶ προϊσταμένους ὑμῶν ἐν κυρίῳ καὶ νουθετοῦντας ὑμᾶς,
  
  13 καὶ ἡγεῖσθαι αὐτοὺς ὑπερεκπερισσοῦ ἐν ἀγάπῃ διὰ τὸ ἔργον αὐτῶν. εἰρηνεύετε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς.
  
  14 παρακαλοῦμεν δὲ ὑμᾶς, ἀδελφοί, νουθετεῖτε τοὺς ἀτάκτους, παραμυθεῖσθε τοὺς ὀλιγοψύχους, ἀντέχεσθε τῶν ἀσθενῶν, μακροθυμεῖτε πρὸς πάντας.
  
  15 ὁρᾶτε μή τις κακὸν ἀντὶ κακοῦ τινι ἀποδῷ, ἀλλὰ πάντοτε τὸ ἀγαθὸν διώκετε εἰς ἀλλήλους καὶ εἰς πάντας.
  
  16 πάντοτε χαίρετε,
  
  17 ἀδιαλείπτως προσεύχεσθε,
  
  18 ἐν παντὶ εὐχαριστεῖτε· τοῦτο γὰρ θέλημα θεοῦ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ εἰς ὑμᾶς.
  
  19 τὸ πνεῦμα μὴ σβέννυτε,
  
  20 προφητείας μὴ ἐξουθενεῖτε·
  
  21 πάντα δὲ δοκιμάζετε, τὸ καλὸν κατέχετε,
  
  22 ἀπὸ παντὸς εἴδους πονηροῦ ἀπέχεσθε.
  
  23 Αὐτὸς δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῆς εἰρήνης ἁγιάσαι ὑμᾶς ὁλοτελεῖς, καὶ ὁλόκληρον ὑμῶν τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ καὶ τὸ σῶμα ἀμέμπτως ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τηρηθείη.
  
  24 πιστὸς ὁ καλῶν ὑμᾶς, ὃς καὶ ποιήσει.
  
  25 Ἀδελφοί, προσεύχεσθε περὶ ἡμῶν.
  
  26 ἀσπάσασθε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς πάντας ἐν φιλήματι ἁγίῳ.
  
  27 ἐνορκίζω ὑμᾶς τὸν κύριον ἀναγνωσθῆναι τὴν ἐπιστολὴν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς.
  
  28 ἡ χάρις τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ μεθ’ ὑμῶν.
