      1 In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign.
      2 Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
      3 He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.
      4 However the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
      5 Yahweh struck the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house. Jotham the king's son was over the household, judging the people of the land.
      6 Now the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
      7 Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Jotham his son reigned in his place.
      8 In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria six months.
      9 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as his fathers had done: he didn't depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.
      10 Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and struck him before the people, and killed him, and reigned in his place.
      11 Now the rest of the acts of Zechariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
      12 This was the word of Yahweh which he spoke to Jehu, saying, "Your sons to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel." So it came to pass.
      13 Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned for a month in Samaria.
      14 Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and struck Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and killed him, and reigned in his place.
      15 Now the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
      16 Then Menahem struck Tiphsah, and all who were therein, and its borders, from Tirzah: because they didn't open to him, therefore he struck it; and all the women therein who were with child he ripped up.
      17 In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem the son of Gadi began to reign over Israel for ten years in Samaria.
      18 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn't depart all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.
      19 There came against the land Pul the king of Assyria; and Menahem gave Pul one thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.
      20 Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and didn't stay there in the land.
      21 Now the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
      22 Menahem slept with his fathers; and Pekahiah his son reigned in his place.
      23 In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekahiah the son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria for two years.
      24 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn't depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.
      25 Pekah the son of Remaliah, his captain, conspired against him, and struck him in Samaria, in the castle of the king's house, with Argob and Arieh; and with him were fifty men of the Gileadites: and he killed him, and reigned in his place.
      26 Now the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
      27 In the two and fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria for twenty years.
      28 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn't depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.
      29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abel Beth Maacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria.
      30 Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and struck him, and killed him, and reigned in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.
      31 Now the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
      32 In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign.
      33 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jerusha the daughter of Zadok.
      34 He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.
      35 However the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh.
      36 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
      37 In those days Yahweh began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.
      38 Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.

      Osée 8

      1 "Put the trumpet to your lips! Something like an eagle is over Yahweh's house, because they have broken my covenant, and rebelled against my law.
      2 They cry to me, 'My God, we Israel acknowledge you!'
      3 Israel has cast off that which is good. The enemy will pursue him.
      4 They have set up kings, but not by me. They have made princes, and I didn't approve. Of their silver and their gold they have made themselves idols, that they may be cut off.
      5 Let Samaria throw out his calf idol! My anger burns against them! How long will it be until they are capable of purity?
      6 For this is even from Israel! The workman made it, and it is no God; indeed, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
      7 For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield, strangers will swallow it up.
      8 Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations like a worthless thing.
      9 For they have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey wandering alone. Ephraim has hired lovers for himself.
      10 But although they sold themselves among the nations, I will now gather them; and they begin to waste away because of the oppression of the king of mighty ones.
      11 Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they became for him altars for sinning.
      12 I wrote for him the many things of my law; but they were regarded as a strange thing.
      13 As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; But Yahweh doesn't accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.
      14 For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses."

      Tite 1

      1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's chosen ones, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,
      2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who can't lie, promised before time began;
      3 but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;
      4 to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.
      5 I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you;
      6 if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior.
      7 For the overseer must be blameless, as God's steward; not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;
      8 but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled;
      9 holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.
      10 For there are also many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
      11 whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain's sake.
      12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and idle gluttons."
      13 This testimony is true. For this cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
      14 not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
      15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
      16 They profess that they know God, but by their works they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.

      1 La vingt-septième année du règne de Jéroboam sur Israël, Azaria, fils d'Amatsia, le roi de Juda, devint roi.
      2 Il avait 16 ans lorsqu'il devint roi et il régna 52 ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Jecolia et elle était de Jérusalem.
      3 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, entièrement comme l’avait fait son père Amatsia.
      4 Toutefois, les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas ; le peuple y offrait encore des sacrifices et des parfums.
      5 L'Eternel frappa le roi, et il fut lépreux jusqu'au jour de sa mort. Il habitait dans une maison isolée et c’était Jotham, son fils, qui était responsable du palais et jugeait le peuple du pays.
      6 Le reste des actes d'Azaria, tout ce qu'il a accompli, cela est décrit dans les annales des rois de Juda.
      7 Azaria se coucha avec ses ancêtres et on l'enterra à leurs côtés dans la ville de David. Son fils Jotham devint roi à sa place.
      8 La trente-huitième année du règne d'Azaria sur Juda, Zacharie, le fils de Jéroboam, devint roi d'Israël à Samarie. Il régna 6 mois.
      9 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, comme l’avaient fait ses ancêtres ; il ne se détourna pas des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël.
      10 Shallum, le fils de Jabesh, conspira contre lui et le frappa à mort devant le peuple, puis il devint roi à sa place.
      11 Le reste des actes de Zacharie, cela est décrit dans les annales des rois d'Israël.
      12 Ainsi s'accomplit ce que l'Eternel avait déclaré à Jéhu : « Tes descendants jusqu'à la quatrième génération seront assis sur le trône d'Israël. »
      13 Shallum, le fils de Jabesh, devint roi la trente-neuvième année du règne d'Ozias sur Juda. Il régna pendant un mois à Samarie.
      14 Menahem, le fils de Gadi, monta de Thirtsa et vint à Samarie. Il frappa à mort Shallum, fils de Jabesh, dans Samarie et il devint roi à sa place.
      15 Le reste des actes de Shallum et la conspiration qu'il a formée, cela est décrit dans les annales des rois d'Israël.
      16 Alors Menahem frappa la ville de Thiphsach, tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient, ainsi que son territoire jusqu’à Thirtsa ; il la frappa parce qu'elle ne lui avait pas ouvert ses portes, et il fendit le ventre de toutes les femmes enceintes.
      17 La trente-neuvième année du règne d'Azaria sur Juda, Menahem, le fils de Gadi, devint roi d'Israël. Il régna 10 ans à Samarie.
      18 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel ; de toute sa vie, il ne se détourna pas des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël.
      19 Pul, le roi d'Assyrie, vint attaquer le pays, et Menahem lui donna 30 tonnes d'argent pour qu'il contribue à affermir la royauté entre ses mains.
      20 Menahem préleva cet argent sur tous les Israélites riches afin de le donner au roi d'Assyrie, à raison de 50 pièces d'argent chacun. Le roi d'Assyrie repartit alors sans prendre position dans le pays.
      21 Le reste des actes de Menahem, tout ce qu'il a accompli, cela est décrit dans les annales des rois d'Israël.
      22 Menahem se coucha avec ses ancêtres. Son fils Pekachia devint roi à sa place.
      23 La cinquantième année du règne d'Azaria sur Juda, Pekachia, le fils de Menahem, devint roi d'Israël à Samarie. Il régna 2 ans.
      24 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel ; il ne se détourna pas des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël.
      25 Son officier Pékach, fils de Remalia, conspira contre lui. Il le frappa à Samarie, dans une partie fortifiée du palais royal, avec l'aide d'Argob et d’Arié. Il avait avec lui 50 Galaadites. Il fit ainsi mourir Pekachia et il devint roi à sa place.
      26 Le reste des actes de Pekachia, tout ce qu'il a accompli, cela est décrit dans les annales des rois d'Israël.
      27 La cinquante-deuxième année du règne d'Azaria sur Juda, Pékach, le fils de Remalia, devint roi d'Israël à Samarie. Il régna 20 ans.
      28 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel ; il ne se détourna pas des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël.
      29 Durant le règne de Pékach sur Israël, Tiglath-Piléser, le roi d'Assyrie, vint s'emparer des villes d'Ijjon, d’Abel-Beth-Maaca, de Janoach, de Kédesh, de Hatsor, de Galaad, de la Galilée et de tout le pays de Nephthali, et il exila les habitants en Assyrie.
      30 Osée, fils d'Ela, forma une conspiration contre Pékach, fils de Remalia, et le frappa à mort, puis il devint roi à sa place. C’était la vingtième année du règne de Jotham, fils d'Ozias.
      31 Le reste des actes de Pékach, tout ce qu'il a accompli, cela est décrit dans les annales des rois d'Israël.
      32 La deuxième année du règne de Pékach, fils de Remalia, sur Israël, Jotham, fils d'Ozias, le roi de Juda, devint roi.
      33 Il avait 25 ans lorsqu'il devint roi et il régna 16 ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Jerusha et c’était la fille de Tsadok.
      34 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, il agit entièrement comme l’avait fait son père Ozias.
      35 Toutefois, les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas ; le peuple y offrait encore des sacrifices et des parfums. Jotham construisit la porte supérieure de la maison de l'Eternel.
      36 Le reste des actes de Jotham, tout ce qu'il a accompli, cela est décrit dans les annales des rois de Juda.
      37 A cette époque, l'Eternel commença à envoyer contre Juda Retsin, le roi de Syrie, et Pékach, le fils de Remalia.
      38 Jotham se coucha avec ses ancêtres et il fut enterré à leurs côtés dans la ville de son ancêtre David. Son fils Achaz devint roi à sa place.

      Osée 8

      1 Embouche la trompette ! L'ennemi fond comme un aigle sur la maison de l'Eternel parce qu'ils ont violé mon alliance et se sont révoltés contre ma loi.
      2 Ils crieront vers moi : « Mon Dieu, nous te connaissons, nous, Israël ! »
      3 Israël a rejeté le bien : l'ennemi le poursuivra.
      4 Ils ont établi des rois sans mon ordre, et des chefs sans se référer à moi ; ils ont fait des idoles avec leur argent et leur or, c'est pourquoi ils seront anéantis.
      5 L'Eternel a rejeté ton veau, Samarie ! Ma colère s'est enflammée contre eux. Jusqu'à quand refuseront-ils de se purifier ?
      6 Ce veau vient d'Israël, un ouvrier l'a fabriqué, et il n'est pas Dieu ; c'est pourquoi le veau de Samarie sera mis en pièces.
      7 Puisqu'ils ont semé du vent, ils moissonneront la tempête. Ils n'auront pas un épi de blé. Ce qui poussera ne donnera pas de farine, et s'il y en avait, des étrangers la dévoreraient.
      8 Israël est englouti ! Ils sont maintenant parmi les nations comme un vase indésirable.
      9 En effet, ils sont allés en Assyrie comme un âne sauvage qui se tient à l'écart ; Ephraïm a fait des cadeaux pour avoir des amis.
      10 Même s'ils font des cadeaux parmi les nations, je vais maintenant les rassembler, et bientôt ils souffriront sous le fardeau du roi des princes.
      11 Ephraïm a multiplié les autels pour pécher, et ces autels l'ont fait tomber dans le péché.
      12 Si j'écris pour lui tous les articles de ma loi, ils sont regardés comme quelque chose d'étranger.
      13 Ils sacrifient des victimes qu'ils m'offrent et ils en mangent la viande : l'Eternel n'y prend pas plaisir. Maintenant l'Eternel se souvient de leur faute, et il punira leurs péchés : ils retourneront en Egypte.
      14 Israël a oublié celui qui l'a fait, il a construit des palais ; Juda a multiplié les villes fortifiées. Mais j'enverrai le feu dans leurs villes et il dévorera leurs palais.

      1 De la part de Paul, serviteur de Dieu et apôtre de Jésus-Christ. – J’ai été chargé d’amener ceux que Dieu a choisis à la foi et à la connaissance de la vérité qui est conforme à la piété,
      2 afin qu’ils aient l'espérance de la vie éternelle. Le Dieu qui ne ment pas l’avait promise avant tous les temps,
      3 et au moment voulu il a révélé sa parole par la prédication qui m'a été confiée sur ordre de Dieu notre Sauveur. –
      4 A Tite, mon véritable enfant dans la foi qui nous est commune : que la grâce, [la compassion] et la paix te soient données de la part de Dieu le Père et [du Seigneur] Jésus-Christ notre Sauveur !
      5 Je t'ai laissé en Crète afin que tu mettes en ordre ce qui reste à régler et que tu établisses des anciens dans chaque ville en suivant mes instructions :
      6 des hommes irréprochables, fidèles à leur femme, dont les enfants soient croyants et ne soient pas accusés de débauche ou insoumis.
      7 En effet, en tant qu’intendant de Dieu, il faut que le responsable soit irréprochable. Il ne doit pas être arrogant, colérique, buveur, violent ni attiré par le gain.
      8 Il doit au contraire être hospitalier, ami du bien, réfléchi, juste, saint, maître de lui,
      9 attaché à la parole digne de confiance telle qu'elle a été enseignée, afin d'être capable à la fois d'encourager les autres par la saine doctrine et de réfuter les contradicteurs.
      10 Il y a en effet beaucoup d’hommes insoumis, des discoureurs creux et trompeurs, surtout parmi les circoncis.
      11 Il faut leur fermer la bouche, car ils bouleversent des familles entières en enseignant ce qu’il ne faut pas pour un gain honteux.
      12 L'un d'eux, leur propre prophète, a dit : « Les Crétois ? Toujours menteurs, de méchantes bêtes, des goinfres paresseux. »
      13 Ce témoignage est bien vrai. C'est pourquoi reprends-les sévèrement afin qu'ils aient une foi saine
      14 et qu'ils ne s'attachent pas à des fables juives et à des commandements émis par des hommes qui se détournent de la vérité.
      15 Tout est pur pour ceux qui sont purs, mais rien n'est pur pour ceux qui sont souillés et incrédules ; bien plus, leur intelligence et leur conscience sont souillées.
      16 Ils prétendent connaître Dieu, mais ils le renient par leur manière d’agir. Ils sont abominables, rebelles et incompétents pour la moindre œuvre bonne.
